There’s some scrawls in the Islander Native language that you cannot decipher. Kahaleitzli reads them for you:
2 and 8 pins of one use apiece 7 squares must fit to enact the release Uniform size they need not be Complete the puzzle to win the key!
WHAT?!?!
7 squares got it... but what is the 2 and 8 of one use apiece?

@ kbbob So I'm hearing about this 'gold door puzzle' thing? I've been offline for a day or two and guess I missed it, but it sounds important. Am I screwed for not having participated? Is it still up? May have solved my own question nvm
the puzzles will be up until the end of the plot so if you miss any days, you'll be able to catch up
There is only one puzzle out right now, so if you head to the plot page you should be able to do it.
let me know what that page says though and if you need help :)
[edit] too slow xD
SPOILER (click to toggle)
I think that just means you have to use all 28 pins only once a piece
Thank you. :)

Lol, I was able to do the puzzle! I was originally confused because at first it brought me to the campsite, with all the npc sprites around the fire and such? So I thought I was stuck haha. Thank you!
It just came out today so I was hoping it wasn't stuck or anything. Glad you could do it!
I've definitely solved the puzzle but it keeps saying it's wrong and resetting the board? I've counted it again and again and am pretty sure it's right. Oh well, guess I'll skip it.
Can someone explain this puzzle to me? I'm completely lost T_T
i cant figure this puzzle out at all
- There are 28 pegs on the board, and you need to draw 7 squares. You must use all the pegs, and you cannot use any more than once. Put another way, you can't have two squares that use the same peg. (7 squares x 4 corners/pegs each = 28 pegs total).
Does that help?
- If you haven't already skipped it, the solution has been posted around the forums already. You can compare your answer with that, or if you'd like to message me with a screenshot I could try to help?

Isn't it that you can only use each peg once?
Sorry if this is a silly question, but squares in the strict sense (i. e. four sides of exactly the same length at right angles) or more along the lines of "something with 4 corners"? Because if it's the stricter type of square, they all have to be the same size to get 7 squares from using each of the 28 pins once. If any of the sides is longer than the distance between two pegs, you'd either be using pegs more than once or getting figures that may have four corners but either have sides that are not all the same length or not at right angles. Does that make sense? I'm really not good at these sort of puzzles... :(
- You're right, I meant "once". :x
The puzzle does use the strict definition of a square. Right angles, equal length sides. There is a twist to this puzzle that you should start to pick up on if you keep working at it.
Here's a hint to get you thinking in the right direction:

Look at the bottom row of pegs. There are three, right? You could potentially fit one square there, but how do you make use of that odd peg left over?

Thanks for the explanation. I understand what I'm supposed to do, but I just don't seem able to.
Has the solution been posted on the forums? And if so, where? I think I have the bottom row right, but I keep ending up with 7+ squares
Thanks! :)
Maybe I should just leave the puzzle until after lunch, to clear my mind's cache (metaphorically speaking :))...

It's those odd pegs that give me a headache. I figured that I need to figure out how to use them and then the rest would work out. And it did occur to me that they should also count if they're tilted by 45°.
But right now all I come up with are squares that are at least double peg-to-peg distance per side (so on a full grid it would be using 8 pegs per square) and that's not going to work out.
It's definitely reassuring that I'm working in the right direction. Even if it's frustrating that I've figured out the direction three hours ago and am still stuck anyways... XD
Edit: Got inspiration from a remark from another user and youtube and then figured it out. :)
I'd be happy to send you a link to a video. You don't even have to watch it all, even if you watch like the first 20 seconds, you'll be able to figure the rest out yourself and pat yourself on the back for having solved most of it all on your own. :)
I eventually found the plot guide and used the image from I really wanted to figure it out on my own, but I just kept going around in circles...ermmm squares! xD
Same here. I absolutely suck at geometry and can't draw straight lines or right angles to save my life. Without that very, very broad hint, I'd have been stuck forever... XD
Yes, I have the exact same problem. Can't draw a straight line to save my life and geometry and mathematics are not my thing either. I hope the other puzzles are a little bit easier, but I'm going to keep an eye on the plot guide xD
