I really wish they'd just start betaing their events first, before releasing them. I know it'd be a bit of a PITA to do that, but a little bit of a headache for staff before an event would save EVERYONE from frustration and anger after the fact. Hopefully though, now that we have Elwood being here for seemingly both teams, we're going to start working together instead of competing against each other - or start working individually instead of a team. Something to stop all the growling (even if some of it is justified).

Just logged in for a few minutes on lunch break. Guess I didn't miss anything since we're still at camp. But I see the site is still crashing with error pages. I still haven't gotten 1/2 my quests done today. We'll be on the trail by the time I get home tonight so hope all goes well.

I hope in future events find ways of normalizing for active members. Like I feel it's going to be difficult to achieve but it would reduce future woes. Because rewarding the most active team is valid but it should be most active once the dead weight is cut out.

Oh well. I just want to team up with those team gold guys who are trying their best and we can all try to stave off shitty Merana and protect from curses. We will all adventure together and have a ton of fun c:

I did understand that Ester did not cause the storms, tha's the random choosing of obstacles. But then I might be mistaken.

Hopefully the staff will take this event into consideration. They have done well with this in the past since our teams are more balanced now. But perhaps making a small adjustment to the RNG factor would be nice for next time. ex: When a team gets an event like the wind blowing them back, that team won't be able to get that same event right away. This would have helped Team Gold a lot at the start.

If you know you can't win a round, it's ok to back down. This will save on stress, time, and resources. Not everyone is funded enough to throw resources out the window. Not everyone who is funded will want to.

Though it's another thing to complain about things being unfair if you choose to step back.

No, Esther did not cause the wind. She keeps our weather obstacles good, that's it. It was just really rotten luck that Gold hit all that wind - and is something I'm sure staff will adjust for the next trail.

I don't think anyone here is saying 'oh gold are such complainers, we would NEVER do that' - hell yes I'd be complaining, and have complained through this event - but the one thing I haven't seen here that I have seen from gold is blaming the other team, because really? What does the other team have to do with anything other than participating? I don't think that anyone is saying they shouldn't or don't have the right to complain either, just that the direction of their ire should not be directed toward Team Steele, because we have nothing to do with the issues that have been happening throughout this event.

I think that'd be a great turn of events, to fight off Merena! Course I'm also still kind of hoping we'll merge into Keelhauliday and get pirates, too, so

Oh, I mean, I get cutting losses. There were plenty of us doing that with the Sephora run. But what I mean is to say, "They're going to get Sephora so we just lose look at that speed boost we'll never win now" /throws hands up That's unsportsmanlike to me. Likewise on the trail if you could still help with obstacles but choose not to because pouting, your team still has to get to the end. Leaving your teammates to carry it themselves I see as unsportsmanlike too, if you could still help (I would agree it's more iffy if it's actually expending resources beyond maybe just time - some obstacles are just clicking or a game, some are not).

Their silence today kind of supports that idea.
Actually I found this to be the biggest BS:
Quote by grelca
1. i promise that it wasn&;t broken, and that it was actually just bad luck. phenomenally bad luck, but bad luck all the same.
2. i also promise it won&;t be a problem tomorrow.

take that as you will 😉
(found here) THIS is where I understand the frustration:

 1. THAT IS NOT A SUFFICIENT RESPONSE
 2. The "take that as you will" and winky nonsense seems too blithe for the amount of questions people have.

If you ask me, that's worse than silence....

Again, wasn't here for the spying thing days. I can't speak to how upset people were getting, nor did I attempt to portray our team as bastions of sportsmanship by any means, so apologies if my post came off that way. Furthermore, the fact that we're apparently spying on them as well doesn't change what I said, it makes it an even more baffling conclusion that people feel the need to spy on other users in this on EITHER side.

From my understanding, there are users who are assuming that our Esther bonus basically sent what WOULD HAVE been our bad weather over their way and vice versa. At the time I was reading through comments from both sides, a lot of assumptions were being made with no input or reaction from staff - it was JUST people making assumptions based on very limited, anecdotal evidence. But I can certainly understand why they would be irked that we got Esther and they got like seven blow-backs.

Team Gold was still salty even when they changed it to a quest-a-thon? I made a point not to read the news or anything in case that was the case, but still, jeez. They even have slightly more numbers than us, it's not our fault they lost. What more could they ask for without the staff literally just handing them the victory?

I think we actually got about the same number of weather events (6 or 7) as Gold did, ours were just all sunshine (due to Esther's buff) whereas theirs were rain and wind.

But I think that's part of a comeptition.... You wanna win.

It's easier to loose online then in RL.

Still I try to be a teamplayer in RL, too. Well I must - due to the jobs I have. It's based on working hand in hand to ensure that we can do the best for our Senior citizans and the Kids in Kindergarten.

Sure I might be pissed off - but still... I know I complain - but mostly about things I know I can't change, since I am playing on a US time based site. Mind, I can still feel pissed that I miss resets 95% of the time

If you mean team gold's windstreak you're not mistaken. The obstacles are literally chosen by a RNG that chooses a number between 1 and 20. So it was entirely random (or more accurately chaotic) and we cant even say it was that unlikely because with RNGs the probability of getting each number doesn't necessarily have to be 1/n or even stay consistent.

Really it was just chaos that they got so many and just it had unfortunate timing.

I mean the only thing they'd recode is how fast food decays or something or they'd make it a two team effort rather than a competition. Both of those, while they may seem like acknowledging a failure in event planning, would actually just be a response to how people want the event to progress.

If they meant today to be a tiebreaker but they changed it to cooperative after yesterday and attitudes from both teams in the aftermath I would be happy for this rest day and it would make the event feel more organic. We'd literally be the driving force behind event development rather than actors in predetermined actions.

I'm sorry but I disagree with you on the . Each obstacle has a random number and an RNG generates a number and then obstacle happens. Grelca saying that it wasn't broken but was bad luck is absolutely the truth. What else is she meant to do? Change their position when there was a theoretically equal chance that that could have happened on another day to Steel? Apologize for the chaos of RNG screwing them over despite her having no control over it?

We got 2 less actually and I think they had rain and sun as well too. Lemme check on that for you.

I think that's what is causing the most frustration and tempers running high - the lack of concrete responses from staff, the lack of any information on how EXACTLY the event is running. We're just sort of getting tossed in the deep end while staff are standing there saying, let's see if they swim or sink and maybe tomorrow we'll adjust the depth of the water. :P

Given how jacked up the RNG is occasionally and how it preferentially selects the same three items for quests for two weeks, it's not out of the realm of possibility that it just selected weather a lot. Especially if this leg was supposed to involve a little bit more weather.

I kinda saw that winky as relating to point two, in that hee hee, I gave you a hint but you're not getting any more explanation about what happens tomorrow!

That said, the fact that they can't figure out how to get the RNG to actually pick RANDOMLY is still very much a problem, and I also pointed out in the feedback thread that I don't think the NPC boosts should have been so strong. There's no reason the presence or absence of any of them should make or break a team.

On the other other hand, yeah, staff's pretty bad in general at communicating anything, so I absolutely get (and share to some degree) the frustration about the silence.

And saying "oh, we're tweaking the event as we go" doesn't really instill a lot of confidence. I think it would have been better if they hadn't suggested prizes for the legs.

Yeah, I get they're assuming that, which is frustrating because we had a crap ton of weather and if we hadn't had Esther it would have been just as awful for us as it was for them. There's a lot of assumptions going on everywhere, when a little staff input would help quell a lot of it.

I'd love it if we got to team up with Gold. My friend and I were speculating we'd have to team up at the end for probably some animate lava Sarah monster, so teaming up now sounds pretty good to me. And tackling a problem together would solve a lot of the animosity, I think.

honestly we're getting way off base, I brought up the spying thing as an example of a time when our team got way out of hand, way more than some grumbling from Team Gold. It seems like people are jumping on some grumbling from Team Gold and using that to pretty much bash the other team. If we're not going to be very sportsmanlike either, do we really have a leg to stand on with all this complaining about the other team? I'm just kind of impressed at how many pages we seem to have amassed complaining about Team Gold.

I wasn't taking issue with Grace saying that it wasn't broken - I was taking issue with the double-talk of "Oh it worked exactly how it was supposed to, but it won't happen again that way tomorrow, tee hee, but it's a secret, tee hee". A lot of people on that thread have taken her post to mean that it won't happen again because it IS broken, and they are fixing it - with her obtuse non-explanation and blithe direction, she kind of unwittingly undermined the reliance that a lot of people have on staff to keep on top of those things. Did I think it's broken? Nah. Do I understand RNG systems? Well enough to understand this wasn't a statistical outlier. But similarly, I can see how people who aren't at all familiar with that information would take her post the wrong way. And they did. In that vein, I would argue it was not a sufficient response.

Yes they were. Apparently their active users were pissed that they had dead weight, but that's an issue with their team.

Both teams have complained, but I'd like to think that we've been a bit better at not blaming Team Gold for anything. Our bad luck was just that: bad luck. Getting SLAMMED with battle obstacles that took us ages to clear or back-to-back obstacles or wind as our second obstacle overall that put us behind Team Gold all amounted to the same crappy luck. It has affected both teams, but Team Gold got screwed by weather yesterday. It sucks, but it is what it is. They had already won two trail legs by that point, so I don't think they should have complained as much as they did. We were basically just fighting to keep it even.

I think the teaming up would be good - and seems the most likely. Saggi was ready to leave when he got his gold right, but Blake convinced him to stay, so it would seem odd if it was 'stay and keep competing with my team' kind of thing. :P As said - it would feel more organic if this morphed into a collaborative effort from now on.
