Thylacines are not canines, they're marsupials. I was about to post that I didn't see them in the marsupial section because they're my favourite animal, but now I know they've been misfiled :)
They look like canines, enough that you can't always tell the difference from looking at bones if you don't know what to look for. But they had pouches and carried their young in them.
I might be a little obsessed with them.

Have you read the news? They are restarting an investigation to see if they are in fact extinct or if there is a new sub-species based on a photo . I will refile it!
