Say that you entered a pet in the spotlight, but you haven't received anything stating whether or not your pet has been rejected yet, is there a way to look into that?
"...I've been through it all baby, I'm mother courage."
Hi! I have a question regarding the new pet image rule. How visible does the pet image have to be? I'm assuming putting it in a hove box is okay? What about different clickable tabs? I have a character that has only a human form shown on the profle but the profile has an art tab which includes human and quad art and I'm hoping that's okay? ^^
- including the quad form in an art section is fine by us! (As are hover boxes and clickable tabs)
This question may or may not be stupid, but I gotta ask! I know that commissioning a profile from someone else is accepted in the spotlight, with proper credit. But are premade profiles accepted as well? I love uniformity and would prefer to have the same layout for all of my pets, but I also want to win the spotlight at some point with them, and though I thought someone had indeed won the pet spotlight with a premade layout, someone else mentioned premades were not accepted. The pet in question here is Catwitch.
Ultimately when her profile is done, she will have a better background and art to make that blank space less... blank. But I need to know if I should start looking around for a commission, or if this would be accepted for the spotlight. Thank you, and sorry if this has been answered somewhere else. ❤
- I do believe a pet has won with that premade profile before! THey're great for getting your pet away from the blank profile templates, but to win they need to excel in story/original art. You seem to have a good story going on, what I would say is that when using a simple small profile layout, it's better to use a less busy background. Otherwise the background overpowers the rest of the profile!
Awesome! And yeah, that background is temporary. Thank you so much for the answer!
I hope it's the right place to ask this...
I didn't want to ping, but I still need the answer...
- Hello! Yes this is the right place to ask :)
, thank you! I will go add credit for myself then, for coding :) I so wish I could be certain that my pet would win in December... too bad then!
I was reading over the rules for the spotlight here and in the official page and then also site rules- cuz I have a pet that has a rather explicit story. I am not going to put the entire story up because I absolutely know I'd get in trouble for parts of it, even if it's not that graphic- but still enough- but I was wondering if I put the story up somewhere else, like toyhou.se or similar and marked it as 'mature' on that site, that I could link to it off the pet's page? I was curious because it's not directly on subeta, but does still link to it- though like I said, it's not like x-rated or anything- (it's not Game of Thrones material lol) but it still has some stuff in it that I know subeta wouldn't like on site.
So would it be okay to link to additional story offsite?
Also- I know it's not allowed for there to be a 'to be continued' sort of thing on the story or 'to read more go here'- that's not what I'm asking. I'm wondering if I linked to another profile with other info (like charahub for example) and that happened to also have more stories on it, that I wouldn't get in trouble? (a lot of the stuff you can put in sites like that, like age, personality, likes/dislikes I wouldn't want to put on her actual profile anyways- but linked to an offsite profile I wouldn't mind... and more story would be available there). I hope I'm making sense. lol.
Thanks in advance for any answers you can provide! =D
I'm actually wondering pretty much the same thing as ! I imagine it's fine, but would definitely like a for-sure answer. c:
I know that if you have a "human" pet then you have to also have some sort of visual representation of the pet would my pet Vartan's image be too human, or is he passable as an experiment as-is?
Hi, recently my pet [Nnoitora] received a denial from the spotlight with the following reason:

Except that I do have one. It's in a hover tab, along with the minion and the spotlight box. I just didn't want a bunch of distractions from the main focus of the page.. which is the character in the background.
Currently my pet is re-nominated again, and I'm really grateful for that, but I'm worried that the overlay would be missed again. I've indicated the hover tabs here in case it's really that difficult to find:

Is this something I need to correct? ;-; Or is it okay for me to reach out to you about this?
- it was very likely missed! That's a gorgeous overlay, and you don't need to correct anything :) (And yes you can reach out to me on issues like this, this is exactly what this thread is for!)
Hello!
This is an incredibly weird question about a slightly esoteric profile function, so bear with me here.
One of my more interactive pet profiles (Genocidal, if you've seen them) has a particular thing I've rigged up for it: at a certain page of the story, the like heart disappears. This is because I've made it so that a black box, invisible against the black background, is activated to appear on that specific page as to block the like heart.
Now, the like heart isn't a necessary trait of a pet profile, but there's other information that is.
At a later page of the story, I was planning to have almost all of the profile covered up and inaccessible, by the means of similar black boxes. It's part of the pet's narrative and interactivity with the user viewing the profile -- it makes sense in context! But this would include covering up vital information such as pet name, gender+species+color, and owner, which are stated to be necessary inclusions on a profile.
The kicker is that if the profile isn't interacted with whatsoever, all necessary statistics and information are visible, present and can be interacted with; it's just at a point later in the story that this occurs. The profile needs to reach a specific target section in order for the statistics to disappear.
Would this count as a breach of the rules involving vital pet statistics, or no?
I'd love to know, because I really want to do as much fourth-wall-breaking with this pet as I possibly can. I'm so sorry that this is probably something not fully accounted for in the rules-- I figured that I would ask for the sake of future reference and so that I know what I can do with this pet.
I have a question not sure if it goes here. Say for the rule
If a pet is edited after being accepted, it will go into a separate ‘re-review’ queue, it will not go through the main review process again. If a pet is edited while in the review queue, it remains in the review queue.
so does that mean that pet will never win? if it remains in review queue. Also, is it possible to even know if a pet is in the review queue?

The re-review queue gets cleared out regularly. I personally usually check that anytime I am going through the nomination queue. But no there is no real way to tell what queue they are in right now.
