Yep, interacting with others in your story is very tricky but loads of fun :)
Speculation, speculations.
I work with facts my dear and my choices are never random. HeiYu will just have to find out the hard way that when Nightshade smiles, that just means he's hand is on his Sai ready to strick.
Seriously though, I had to re-read all your rps from previous challenges to get a better sense of your characters, I left it a bit open in the write up but I think you can guess who was doing what ;)
- I guess when Nightshade smiles, HeiYu will be stricken with laughter at the thought that he thinks he can begin to best a powerful mage (and her companion) with a lowly Sai.
- the Wayfarers are more than up for a duel with Han Solo - bring it on - anytime. Sounds like fun!
Maybe we'll all get to see what happens if (when?) Nightshade and HeiYu meet. Nightshade might be a great addition to the Wayfarer team after the first encounter. (Or the Wayfarers to the Han Solo team?)
Because I have people experiencing family crises, and some teams losing members, I'll extend the deadline one day.
Now for those who want to take a second guess, you may have one on Questions 5 and the Bonus. On 5, 250 is NOT the correct answer, because the same rule is not being applied to all distances. You're just looking at those five cities and creating a pattern off the answers. By that token, the next city would have to be 300, but if I added Gokreo, it would be 150. On the Bonus, some of you are all around this and can pick up half points, but only one of you so far has the correct answer. Clue: This does not split off into what would be "Japan" in the world outside Subeta, this is a base Far East concept linked to balance.
24 hr on the RP and these two questions if you want to play.
ILU (just sayin) Thanks for the extension, life has gotten a bit out of control this last week
Our Lair is proof you don't have to stand face to face to know you've got friends who stand with you when you need us.
Mni wiconi -- water is life
, puzzle extension and RP extension .. on SL
.. hope all is well with you!
Thanks Rowan : I almost made it by 7 minutes. Thanks for the extra time!
I'd like to request an extra guess for the other riddles we got wrong as well not just 5 and the bonus.
My reason is... I'm dumb....
Nope, just those two. People were fine with the others.
Objection! Minorities have just as much say as majorities!
*can I at least re-submit number 1, kinda feel dumb for missing that one and I already got the bonus question
at least you got the bonus. And don't feel dumb, in the entire time I've been in WS (like every year) I have only been able to solve 2 or 3 questions--in 4 years! And you've got a lot of points so you are still pretty far and doing really well.
Your team is a duo though, I imagine the ws must be hard on you guys, the past 3 chapters where heavy weights!
Puzzles are my strong point though, in every ws my role is mostly the puzzle solver (except word games and cultural reference since English isn't my first language) so I get iffed when I screw up royally like I did on this chapter -_-;
ah but the other years we weren't a duo. I just am unable to get puzzles and riddles. Seriously, I feel exceptionally stupid that in 4 years I've only gotten 2 or 3 puzzles. Rp and trivia are my strong points really.
Die solved the 2 we submitted--and quite frankly I still would never had gotten either one. But see you can get all the riddles and puzzles with English NOT being your first language and I can't and it is mine. Seriously, I'm majorly jealous--be happy xD -tickles-
Love you ❤
But really we each have our strengths and weaknesses, some really obvious cultural reference will just go over my head but through math or logic riddles at me, no problem.
I still think those of us in the minority have as much right for a redo as others -_-
Trying to rally the troops. We've been so out of it the past two weeks. Thanks for the extension!
Thank you for the extension and the clues! :D
I think Rowan is being extremely fair. We knew things would be hard going in. We accept it and realize we can't be perfect in everything. There should not be different rules for different people, then there would be chaos.
Thank you and the judges for all your hard work
thanks for the extension hon. It's made the world of difference for our team.
Life is short... Count your Blessings, Love your family and friends and lend a helping hand whenever you can!

- you are definitely not even a little bit stupid. To be able to solve word puzzles at all in a language that is not your first is totally awesome and I am very impressed. Those rebus puzzles are hard even when English is the language you are born to. Besides, your knowledge of Far Eastern culture made you the only one to get the bonus question correct first time around. And your roleplay is very creative and fun to read.
Thankies ❤
This write up was my fav so far, I'm still stealing your green shishin though, no using your deus ex machina spells this time ;)
Or sugar-free muffins, those suck! Give me the real thing!
I'm fine with any member of a team turning in needed stuff when there's a good reason, so not to worry.
Right now, we have two teams where an immediate family member is in ICU, and there's a question of either survival or permanent injury, or both. What is called for here is prayers/good thoughts--whatever your preference, but not nitpicking over a short period of time or who submits.
We also have jobs making sudden demands or health issues popping up. We all have lives beyond Subeta, and they take first claim. I am fine with all of this. It's simple allowances where needed, and I'm humbled to have enough interest and devotion that you care to keep going.
That being said, I'm going to make a ruling on a complaint and appeal which will apply to any similar ones as well:
You are not necessarily a minority if English is not your first language. I would submit that is true of close to half WS players, especially if we count those who grew up speaking dual languages from birth. I could care less if English isn't your first language. It's a non-issue to me, I can decipher. If you get lost in the wording, ask me for clarification.
Now you are in a minority if you are at the top of the heap on every chapter, and/or you have flubbed a question almost everyone got correct. In both cases, there are NO special privileges attached. None, "eopseo," "aucun," "nessuna," "nada!" (I have now exhausted all the languages in which I can make a dent, but I'm sure other player could add to this.)
This is something that came from one of our judges who has been with us for all the years. She is a professor of Mathematics at a highly respected university, so any math based arguments I receive bounce off her.
Just passing this along to whoever might need to hear it.
And now the answers to the five questions and the bonus for Chapter 8.
Hijacking (Jack and King elevated above the other cards.)
Minimum cards 15 Shengui Guo=1 blue, 2 red, 4 unknown Sinhae=2 blue, 3 red, 1 unknown ?? country=1 purple 1 red. (You were given full credit if you managed any variation of this.)
Tennis Shoes (10 "Issues")
The "angry bird" picture. (It's a parrot because I made a little joke on the complaints I get which say the same thing over and over--yeah, I know--:P~~~
100 Lilu
(This threw a lot of folks, and it was meant to be a challenge, but, as was pointed out in the quote above, it is a standard puzzle. For this one, each vowel was worth +100, while each consonant was worth -50. If you were on the track with this, then Pyong Katae should have helped since "y" can sometimes do vowel duty, and finding it had to be a consonant in order to keep the pattern going should have nailed it down. So, Kon Blin-Tae has 4 vowels (400) and 6 consonants (-300) for a final value of 100. That pattern holds true for all the others as well.
If you had the process right, but nerfed the computations, you still got half credit.)
Bonus: This was the trickiest of all, and required realizing that Tsu Tze, who claims to be an air Gumi, is either superfluous, or lying. Whatever the case, she does not need to be summoned.
There are five elements related to balance/Yin-Yang/chi, not connected to a specific religion or sect. Since I specifically said I wanted to get away from Japan as inspiration, since it was so overdone, you had an additional clue to avoid the shinto breakdown.
You need Wood, Earth, Fire, Water, and Metal.
Chinese Korean Thailand--they offer element suites! Vietnam Element Flags
If you did use the Japanese listing, you were given half credit.
Questions welcome! (Arguments--not so much. My tank is pretty full. :D)
