I've been quiet because I haven't really been up to talking much. I've been discouraged because I want to move out now, but my fiance and I need a roommate to be able to pay rent (rent is at least $1,000 for the area we need to be around). I tried using Craigslist and Facebook to find potential roommates, but they aren't working. And, everything else costs money. Now, I have to pay money to get anywhere with the roommate search. -_-

At least school is easier since I don't have to waste every Thursday being bored out of my mind in lectures. And, there's less assignments overall... At least for now. I'm thinking later will pick up, but it's still easier for me to be online fully.

Aw, that sounds super stressful, Cherri... But maybe you'll get lucky and find a spot that is less? We have a similar situation, where everyone we know is paying 1200-2400 per month for rent, but we found a place for 820. I mean, it's not amazing... The walls are a little thin, and we have no elevator, and our apartment is quite small (50 m2, about) but it is clean, kept up, and away from my in-laws... :O

- There is one place I found that's $700... While it's doable, it's dangerous because that's the absolute limit we can afford. We would probably be struggling at that point. It's a last resort option, as I don't want to struggle to eat or pay rent again.

...Or we could figure something out? I don't know. I would much prefer to live without a roommate, but it's hard not to with only one of us working. T-T

Yeah, we got really lucky. But hopefully you'll find something that works... You're at a university of something in your town, right? Maybe you could post an ad in their library or something... Attract one of the quiet, studying types... Or have you thought about looking into housing a foreign exchange student? They generally pay for their room and board with their tuition, and since many of them would rather live with a native than in a dorm, many of them are looking for "house families"...

I live in Northern Ireland :) and I've been to a Southern Ireland lots :3! I love both, there's lots of tourist things to see and do :3! Like the giants causeway or carrickareed rope bridge ^^! Google them :3

@ rainestorme - The school I go to is 1 1/2 hours away from the area I'm looking at. ;-; I don't think any students that frequently go to campus want to have such a long commute. My fiance doesn't drive and I have anxiety about driving too long and get panic attacks in congested traffic, so we need to be close to his jobs.

The foreign exchange student idea is one I haven't thought of. I'm not sure if it'll work since we don't have a place already, but it's an idea!

EDIT: Uber is an option here, but it adds up quickly. That's what my fiance uses to go to work during the day. And, public transportation is awful here as it takes 2 1/2 hours to go somewhere 20 minutes away.

@ Pengy - We're really in contact with only two friends. One would want to move in with us, but she hasn't been able to find a job in over a year of searching. (Finding entry level jobs is a nightmare here.) The other doesn't want to get a job or would want to live with us.

Well if I am going I am buying the ticket by tomorrow lol!

I've never been to any of those but my uncle loves Cavan and my friend is from Roscommon but I don't think there's much to do in them but apparently they're very relaxed because there's only pubs and b&bs and nice views which is pretty epic :D! Nana loves Donegal! There's more to do down there I think tourist wise :3!

Hey guys. I know its been a very long time since I have been on and I'm sorry for that. Back in Nov I blacked out into a seizure and was rushed to the hospital where I stayed for 2 months. It seems I have quite a few medical problems more than I thought. I just got home 2 weeks ago and am relearning how to walk, get up and other daily things on my own. Today is the first time I have sat at my computer in 3 months and the first thing I did was get on to tell everyone that I missed them. I'm so sorry I missed Christmas and new years. Know I was thinking about you guys while I was in the hospital. I hope everyone had great holidays and that I will get to talk to everyone soon.

Oh, dear, that sounds dreadful! I hope your rehab goes really well, and surprisingly quickly, at the same time. PT and such is never much fun, but I'm sure the doctors and everyone will do their best to get you back on your feet... Do they know exactly what it was, and have a good treatment plan in place?

Yeah, the majority of roommate searching sites require you to pay to either post an ad or to contact roommates. If I need to resort to one of these sites, I would rather use one that's honest about the fees upfront. Some bait you in and then say you need to pay to make any use of the site. I hate dishonest business. -_-

The trip to Ireland. :P the one we were looking at my husband would have had to drive on the wrong side of the road and a lot lol. We are looking at another on where you mostly ride by train.

So glad you have a laptop again! I think I would die without my computer... Luckily we have loads of different laptops and tablets around, so if one breaks, we always have an emergency version around. :D (That sounds weird because it is... My father-in-law has issues with devices, and when they don't work right, he assumes they're broken, so he buys a new one. Then he tells my husband he can have the old one, if he thinks he can fix it. Oftentimes "fixing it" just means charging it properly, finding a new cable, hooking it up better, etc. So we have all of his old cast-offs. :P)
