Oh, I love learning new languages! I only have 3 under my belt since I've found my time to be minimal with the kids, but now they are getting older I am hoping to be able to use more of my free time for it.
Which ones have you learned so far?
I am thinking of going for Italian next since it is also close to Spanish then jumping into Finnish from there. ^_^
Awesome. :) English is my native language, then I'm fluent in French, and intermediate in German... And working on Swiss German, which is harder by a lot! Had some basics in Spanish, but I don't remember that much. I want to work on Italian next, though, too. :D

Oh no really? I heard there are still a lot of problems with Brexit. I hope yall are all doing ok. I know the pound dropped recently, wasn't sure if it was back up, my husband bought something he had been wanting when it happened
Welcome to the group!! -throws confetti- Actually yes! At first it was rather slow but it was interesting to see how the virus started rather than just crazy outbreak, and it has progressively gotten worse as the series progresses for the people, which is to be expected. It is really good! I haven't seen the most recent season though
I have watched the first season and agree with you completely :) I am planning to catch up...soonish, haha. So many shows, not enough time!
German has always interested me but scares me, lol. It is a very intense language. Good on you for taking it on!
Yeah I have waay to many shows going and not enough time XD I keep adding more too ug lol. What have you been watching?
Haha, well, it wasn't exactly my choice, actually... I was in France when I met my husband, and he is from Switzerland. Unfortunately for me, while French IS a Swiss language, it wasn't the language for his part of the country! I'd taken a semester of German at University, but I'd never taken it seriously. I worked a bit more on the language while we had our long distance relationship for a year, and I've been working on it for the three years since I moved here! Vocabulary and pronunciation in High German aren't bad at all. I don't mind those. And Syntax isn't, either. You can recognize those parts from older parts of English. It's the declinations on the genders that are trouble... German has three articles (die = feminine, der= masculine, das = neuter) plus four cases (dative = loosely related to "whom", nominative = the subject case I/he/you, akkusative = the object case him/me/us, and genitive = the possessive case) However, the cases aren't as neatly defined as the English versions, and include certain verbs that just happen to take one case or another. Plus, some of the forms overlap the cases, and the different forms can appear anywhere in the sentence, so sometimes it's really difficult to decide which part of the subject is the subject/object/etc. . Plus, each of those articles takes on a different one of the forms (or a new form entirely) if there is an adjective before the noun... And besides genitive, there are still additional possessive forms that combine with the article for "a/an"...
So where English has a/an/the, German has all of these: (my personal chart for deciding the article!)
That's the part I struggle with! And native speakers always say that doesn't matter that much. But actually it does, because otherwise misunderstandings happen! The problem is, that the subject and object can easily be moved around, like in this sentence: "Die Brüder begrüsst das Kind, nich den Onkel." The verb is begrüsst, so we know for sure that someone greeted someone, and someone didn't get greeted. English speakers might assume it is "The brothers greeted the kid, but not the uncle." or "The brothers, not the uncle, greeted the kid." But actually, the kid greeted the brothers (watch the verb form compared to the plural article!), but he didn't greet the uncle. And deciding where the subject, object, etc are can get really complicated with the convuluted articles!
But I'm ranting... Yes, it's a hard language. And then, add to that the fact that the Swiss dialect is radically different from what you learn in books and schools, and it's super tough. :O It would be easier if I only had to learn High German! But I DO love languages, despite this rant. I think they're easier to learn, though, when you're learning them 100% for fun (like with French for me) than when you HAVE to use them to communicate with everyone around you...

I kinda love Negan XD! I love his pure insanity! My boyfriend read articles on the comics so kinda knows a bit haha and he said he prefers TV Negan to comic Negan? I havent looked at the comics at all tbh!
Yeah that meeting was super shocking! I half expected there to be some sort of sad montage but nope just super sudden! Also I am so not squeamish at all but the second characters face as they bubbled their last words kinda made me feel sick!
I prefer those two characters also :D! I love Carol atm how she does this strange crying panic attack thing before psychotically killing everyone!
I have seen Once Upon a Time :D! I watched it all up until the latest season and then kinda got bored tbh :(! But please tell me your TWD moment with it :D!!!!
omg you should have pinged PinkBuns! Stick it in the trades and ask for a swap?
Wow thank you for all the tips!! Im gonna look at ordering a few books in Norwegian actually because my favourite author is from Norway (Jo Nesbo) so maybe reading those books in my target language would be a good start :D! I dont think there are any classes over here for Norwegian, its doesnt seem like a popular language for people to choose :(!
Oooo fruit juices are lovely! I especially love pineapple juice but not many places serve it -.-!
Omg hahahah XD! Your husband certainly likes his lightbulbs! As long I can see when the light is turned on then I'm happy haha!
Egh I have to go to bed in a minute, as its friday I kinda wanna stay up late but I woke up at 4am yesterday itching so I am super tired! (my RL boyfriend who I live with lol) just got McDonalds and I am super stuffed (I had two burgers and two smoothies)
Tbh it doesnt seem like anyone knows whats going on with brexit! Theyre trying to trigger article 50 so it can begin but for some reason they havent and all the pricks that voted leave are all "yay brexit isnt so bad!!!" and im like BREXIT HASNT STARTED YOU FUCKING PRICKS >:(! Makes me angry! Its because a lot of companies are already starting to try to move down south to Ireland (instead of Northern Ireland) so they can have access to the EU market and the British market through us so from an Northern Ireland perspective our country is gonna crumble :(!
Haha, yeah, he's an electrician, and he's a bit obsessed... He's always loved that kind of thing. He also takes his computer completely apart and "rebuilds" it for fun.

I'm just here to say hi! :D
I'm going to be swamped the next few weeks. I've got essays galore, finals, and other life things, so I won't really be on (except for the bathhouse because free CSC). I'll be back in December. :3
No worries! I'm in the same boat as you xD
, Welcome! :D
Right now I am watching NCIS =) In between I am rewatching Dexter again with family in the evening. What are you watching at the moment?
Oh wow! What a way to get jumped into a language, haha. I do feel the best way to learn is to be submersed in the culture. I live near Canada and there is a section that only speaks Spanish. Debated on going there for a few weeks to get myself prepped for it better. I learned French first (after my native tongue) and my answers anytime I think of a foreign word usually comes out with the French equivalent even if I want to speak Spanish, lol. My teacher at the time said it at least showed her I was accessing the correct part of the brain xD
The second character’s face DID haunt me a bit especially since it was…kind of a smack to the face to the people who loved him I think. They made it memorable, that is for sure.
When I watched the TV Skins (UK version, not the US) a character was killed off near the end (murdered) in a very heart wrenching way. I was unable to finish the show for awhile after. Still haven’t watched the next season either. One day I will…
In OuAT the character of the Ice Queen (Elsa’a aunt) – the child version was played by Lily. Our Lily who was obsessed with the walking dead from TWD. Well, I ended up creating a little picture which showed the flower scene with Carol and Lily except I replaced her name with the Ice Queen’s. lol. (Forgot the name off the top of my head now). Definitely would have saved OuAT a lot of headache if Carol had been around :p
Thank you both for the welcomes :)
Haha, yeah, I had problems with that when I first started studying German... I was teaching French to some children at an elementary at the same time... Once I was supposed to take an oral exam, and my exam time wound up scheduled right after the French class. When I got in there, the teacher started asking me questions, and I just had absolutely no German words... He pointed to a book and asked me what that was. All I could come up with was "livre", even though the German word (das Buch) is basically the exact same as the English word! Luckily, my teacher knew I was (usually) one of the best students in class, but I just was in the wrong language to try to use my German. He let me reschedule the exam (for a morning that DIDN'T start with French!), and I aced it in the end. I just couldn't get to the German words for anything! But I can definitely tell that my foreign languages (German and French) are stored in a different part of the brain than my native language (English) :O

I only watched the first season of skins! Then I kinda got lost with it lmao!
Did you see this weeks episode of TWD? It was such a freaking filler episode -.-! I literally fell asleep half way through it! I hate when they do this with shows!
Like the show Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch, all of season 3 was a filler >:(!
My weekend was crappy :(! Cause of this rash crap I spent most of the weekend indoors and on the phone to the doctors :(! They gave me tablets and creams to get rid of it but its not even slightly working so I have to wait until Thursday before I can call them back :(! Its so itchy and painful ;-;
