Dander is the dead skin flakes (dry skin), the bits that build up into dust in people's houses. When people are allergic to cats, it is generally that dander, not actually the fur. Most people don't realize that! All the fur can do is tickle your nose. It's the dander that causes problem.

I learned French as my major at Uni. Well, actually, I started in high school (and in ballet from the time I was a kid). Then, I did an internship in France, and while I was there, I met my husband. He speaks German (High German for school, Swiss German at home) as a native speaker. (He's bi/tri-lingual, since his father is British, and his mother is Swiss German). So, once I moved here, I had to start learning the two versions of German. :) I actually did a little Spanish when I was a kid, too, but I don't remember much of that.

And wow, are that many from Texas? I read through some of the intros, and it seemed like a lot were mentioning Florida. At any rate, I'm not too worried. :)

And yeah, in the states (and England, too, I think), that is such a common name! But here, it's super rare. Every time I say my name, the people look confused. At Starbucks, they always write my name as Emmi, which is a brand of dairy products here. :O

I was talking about the walking down the aisle thing with my fiance earlier today. He said that perhaps one of his family members can walk me. I don't know though. As of now, I would prefer to walk alone since I don't feel very close to his family. That might change in a few months.

The friend situation was something that happened two years ago. It's something I don't feel comfortable talking about, sorry. I think she would be willing to put it aside... not completely sure.

Even then, we're all from different parts of Texas XD I've been to Switzerland before when I was really young, but I really want to go back

If the friend thing is something you think you can both comfortable put aside, then I say go for it. But I think you said she didn't like your fiance? But it would be great to have her walk you down the aisle, I'm sure. But honestly, having somebody walk you down the aisle isn't the most important thing ever! I had a similar thing, where I wasn't sure who to have. It was never going to be my dad, because frankly, he was barely ever around. A nice enough guy when he IS around, but just not very present. I thought about my best friend's dad, who was also my youth pastor, or maybe one of my brothers. But then the church wedding was in Switzerland, and I knew none of those three would be able to come. In the end, I walked down the aisle with my mother, and it was fine. But honestly, I think even if you walk down alone, it could be beautiful and magical. Better than walking down with someone who doesn't mean that much to you! After all, if it isn't someone you love enough, then there isn't much meaning there anyway. After all, no one is really looking at the father of the bride for much anyway... They might look for tears, and he might be useful to hold a bride up if she's super nervous, but really, at the end of the day, everyone is only looking at the bride, seeing how beautiful she is and all that.

Actually, the aisle part is easy, because you can see your guy at the end, and that's all that matters. The part that might bother is that you should have someone with you while you're waiting. The bride is supposed to be hiding from everyone, so no one sees her dress and all, and that can frankly get really lonely. Does the groom have a sister or somebody? Somebody you'd be comfortable hanging out with, even if she didn't walk you down the aisle?

You should come back! It's a beautiful place to visit. A bit expensive though. I mean, in normal towns, I think the hotels are more or less the same as other places, and there are cheap hostels. That's not the problem. But for travel, you're better off renting a car than taking trains, because they're quite expensive. I take a train to another town every Saturday for work, and it's about thirty franks to go only about thirty minutes. Really sucky. That being said, if you take the same train twice, that is the same price as a day pass, so you can go back and forth, and make as many stops as you want in between... So I dunno, maybe if you planned it well enough, you could use day passes, or get a week long pass or something... But usually a rental car is cheaper, especially if you're with other people.

And the food! It's terribly expensive. Meat is ridiculous here. Other groceries are fine, but you'll pay ten franks at the grocery store for just two pieces of chicken. :/ So you have to budget more for food, especially if you're going to have to go to restaurants...
