"What? wait, no!" Sam gasped clutching the miniature broom to her, as if afraid he would try to take it back. "I don't know how..., but if I have to poison everyone else in class to get good enough at potions to earn this, I'm gonna do it!" Taking an unfortunate step backwards, Sam sat hard, and suddenly, on on the dozing winged horse. Waking with a startled whinny, the beast lunged to it's hooves and leaped into the air, with Sam perched sidesaddle, clinging frantically to it's mane.

She liked it?! Girls were so hard to read... speaking of girls, Sam was now flying in the air on the spooked horse. Without thinking he grabbed her Starsweeper and flung himself at high speed towards the nearly dangling girl. He pulled beside the horse and so Sam could slid onto the broom. "Appolina, stop," he said to the horse, who frose in mid air. "Go back to the other's ya ain't in danger." The horse obyed at once. He flew them down and stood to help her. "You okay? Wanna try that not dangling from the horse? And okay, we'll work on posioning your classmates... I mean potions tomorrow, okay?" He said the last with a sparkling smile hoping to calm the girl and let her know she was safe.

Paddy had never experienced a full moon quite like it, and knew she would never have that opportunity again. As much as she'd enjoyed sitting out on the grass with Mouse and Snowden, watching the full moon, it was strangely relieving to feel her fur growing back a couple of days later as the locket fell apart, knowing that she would be back to normal.

Mouse arrived with a note for the CoMC club, but flew off before Paddy could even say thank you. She wasn't too sure where the owl was heading, but she eagerly finished her breakfast and headed down to the Quidditch pitch. She hadn't been there since she'd tried flying on her new broomstick and had nearly knocked Magnus off his broom with her unexpectedly sharp turn. She was susprised to hear Magnus apologising - she didn't think there was anything he had to apologise for. "You've got nothing to say sorry for," she said, "I'm sure we all found it hard to watch, but it's a great learning experience to witness that in safety. I'm sure everyone understands werewolves a little better now."

Although she was disappointed that dragons wouldn't be next, she was pleased in an odd way. The werewolf session had been stressful for everyone, but she felt Magnus needed a calmer creature next, so he could finish his recovery before the dragons. She gasped as the herd (or should that be flock?) of Pegasus landed on the pitch, but waited for someone else to approach them first. It wasn't that she was afraid, but more that she wasn't sure how they would react to her.

As she was staring at the Pegasus, Sam suddenly backed into one and ended up flying sidesaddle, having to be rescued by Magnus. Unable to help herself, Paddy grinned; she was unlikely to end up doing anything quite so dramatic, so she felt a little more confident at approaching them. She's only taken one step forwards before she spotted Mouse her Barn Owl carrying a parcel, flying low over Magnus' head. As she flew over Paddy's head, Mouse dropped the package which bounced off Paddy's shoulder, before flying back to the Owlery. "I need to teach her better aim," Paddy muttered, rubbing her shoulder and picking up the package. "Looks like this is for you," she said to Magnus, handing the package over, "it's from my Uncle."

Magnus looked down for a moment... "I dunno, I mean I-I.." he stammered. He had done a good job at making himself feel guilty. But then Paddy's owl dropped a parcel on her shoulder and she gave it to him. He frowned again. It was really nice of her uncle to send him these cakes but he felt guilty especially since he never touched one of them. "Thanks," he said, "er I know your birf day is tomorrow an' all, but I can't wait on it..." he dug into the rucksack and pulled out something small and grey. "I know ya ain't too good wif names, but I bought 'ere fellow a week ago and thought you'd like him. 'E just arrived as I got 'ere this morning. He can jump rope wif 'is tail and I 'ad dad put an animal repellent charm on 'em... kinda like the ones they do for muggles to not come near wizard stuff. Ain't no animal gonna try an' eat 'em." He opened his hands to show her a cute grey rat. Which scurried to his shoulder and started cleaning himself.

Paddy spotted Magnus' frown, and realised she hadn't explained why her Uncle wanted to send the cake, "Uncle is going to send you something special to eat, once I tell him what you want. But he said if you didn't want to eat the chocolate cake, then you're to share it with everyone who was there over the full moon, seeing as he thinks you'd feel better sharing it out."

Just then, Magnus pulled out something from his rucksack, he was making it sound so adorable and cute, then Paddy realised it was a rat. Ok, it was a cute one, that could jump rope with his tail, but there was nothing mistaking it being a rat. Not too sure how to react to it, and desperately struggling to not chase after it, the first thing that sprung to mind was a question, "does the animal repellent charm work for werewolves as well?" she asked quietly.

Katsumi regretted being harsh with Magnus, and she withdrew from the conversation for a bit. She was interested to hear Sam could converse with snakes -- that sounded like an interesting skill to have, though it was rare. The other girl's hair was currently an impressive shade of violet. Katsumi would never do anything like that to her hair, but the Slytherin pulled it off well.

Paddy was back to normal, it seemed. The girl didn't appear to like rats very much, but Katsumi had no such reservations. "Aww, he's adorable," she exclaimed, offering the small rodent a hand. Paddy's question about animal repellent charms was brilliant, and it made her wonder if no one had ever thought to try something like that before.

He did like the idea of sharing the cake, at least it made him feel less guilty. But then after he showed her the pet rat she didn't seem keen on it at all. He was bombing out today for sure. He nodded. "I'm pretty sure it will. I mean, a werewolf is an animal after all. Don't know about your current form though... but since you don't seem to like him anyway..." The poor boy looked so forelorn. The rat sniffed Katsumi's hand and then rubbed his face on her. "I thought so too when I saw the advert in the paper for 'em. If I didn't already 'ave three pets..."

Gaia was still recovering from Magnus change and everything that went down during the last session. There are things that can't be unseen, but she made it to the new session on hung back. She had the urge to punch and hug Magnus () at the same time. Then she saw them and everything in her face changed. It seems Gaia loves anything with wings.

Magnus was sorry he ever did the werewolf meeting when he saw Gaia hang back. It never occurred to him that what he dealt with every month would be so horrific to others. His father had been reluctant to tell him about it as well. Subdued, he put his hands in his pockets and hoped that the pegaus would be a more fun meeting. At least she seemed to be happier seeing them than she did seeing him. He couldn't blame her and he would give her space.

Gaia waved at Magnus when she noticed he was looking her way. Seeing her friend in pain was hard mostly because she had no way or preventing or helping him. ()

"Hey, Gaia. Like 'em?" he asked poking his head towards the pegaus. He wasn't really sure how much involvement she wanted and was afraid he'd lost one of his best friends.

Paddy saw the disappointed look on Magnus' face and took a deep breath. "I like him," she said, "it's just that I used to chase and terrorise the rats in the forest with Uncle on a full moon...." She thought for a moment before adding, "let's see him jump rope with his tail, then he'll look different to them. I mean if you can have a pet llama and get on ok with it, then I'm going to work out a way to not chase Rodney."

Sam clung to Magnus a second or two longer than necessary as he grabbed her off the panicked pegasus. She grinned in embarrassment as they set down.
"Oops" she laughed "Sorry about that. Yeaaah, I'll definitely not be riding one of those sidesaddle. Those wings really bounce a body around." She looked down at her feet, suddenly shy as Katsumi, and Paddy gathered around, and carefully handed the miniature broom back to Magnus. "I will earn this" she promised, her pale blue-gray eyes intense.
Sam blinked in surprise at everyone calling the trained rat "cute". She had only ever thought of rats as food for snakes and owls, and to tell the truth, their little hands and furless tails gave her the creeps. To hide her distaste for the rodent, she smiled and waved cheerfully at Gaia as she arrived.

Maybe Magnus was thinking too much like a boy--giving a girl a rat as a pressent. Then again he wasn't likely to know whatelse to give her. He had been trying for over a month to find any idea and had been drawing a blank. Paddy named it quickly which surprised him, though he didn't think she was very keen on it at all. Still he put his and to his shoulder and the rat climbed down. "Ey, Rodney, skiprope." It looked like it would have been easier with a few extra rats, but he turned sideways and started swinging his tail and then started skipping. It was adorable...well at least he thought so. "You don't 'ave ta keep 'im. I can return 'im and just give you the money. 'E was 4 gallons, so you could pick somefing else you like better."

"Don't worry Sam," Magnus said enjoying the extra cling, "You'll earn it. I know you will." He wasn't surprised that Sam didn't look keen on the rat. He surmised that since she fed her snake them she wouldn't view it as a pet which seemed to be about the only thing he was getting right.

Paddy looked in surprise at Sam's reaction to the rat, then remembered her mentioning needing to get them for her snakes. What surprised her more though, was the way the rat responded to his name immediately, almost like that's what they'd called him in the shop. Watching Rodney skipping, she couldn't help but smile, "he certainly has character," she said to Magnus, "and you're not going to take him back, I'm keeping him." Trying to keep the image of Rodney skipping in her head, so she wouldn't just see him as a rat to chase, she reached her paw out to the skipping rat and held it in front of him, waiting for Rodney to step onto it. "You can stop skipping now, Rodney," she added, realising that the rat would most likely carry on until told otherwise.

He gave her a half smile and hoped she really did like him. "'E's a bit of a showoff they said in the advert. 'E likes an audiance, so that's probly why 'e's still going." He watched the rat, which looked like it was having a good time. Then again it was hard to know what a rat was thinking at all. Rodney stopped skipping and jumped onto Paddy's paw. He cleaned his face and then sneezed, making a huge production of it. It was safe to say the rat liked her.

"He sounds perfect," she said, laughing as Rodney sneezed then scampered onto her shoulder. Realising she hadn't actually said "thank you" yet, she flung her paws around Magnus and gave him a quick hug, "thank you," she said, looking slightly embarrassed as she wasn't usually given to hugging people.

Magnus finally relaxed a little after Paddy hugged him. Maybe she did really like it. In future though, he would have to find methods of learning what to buy girls. Maybe he could learn legilimens--nah, it probably wouldn't be worth the headache. "You're welcome. 'Ope he's as fun and entertainin' as 'e sounded to me." He grinned a little as the rat seemed very pleased with his new "parent."

"I'm sure he will be," Paddy replied as Rodney started to skip with his tail again. "Just as long as he doesn't fall off my shoulder," she added with a grin.
