I've never heard of them not counting if they are retired. It would make earning some of them pointless if they didn't count towards your total.

Would that explain why my achievements don't seem to stay put/I no longer have the ones I earned two-ish years ago? I keep re-earning the "get kissed by five people" one and "lay five flowers at the memorial" and I know I got those years and years ago.

nope, you need to import your old achievements into the "new" (not really new anymore :P) system! i am not sure of the link to do that, if you file a ticket a ua can help :)

That doesn't explain to me why some people lost achievements and others didn't - especially those on the high score list. I was tied with someone at 2126 and am now 2 behind. That seems really strange to me.

The High Score Table doesn't update until someone views their own achievement link. So if you haven't visited this page, your HST score won't match whatever your profile or forum info shows.

It works the same way for increases - it won't show up on the HST that you've gotten more achievements until you visit the achievement page to update the score.

If the achievement had 3 duplicate tiers, why some users lost 3 or 4 achievements? it's not possible.. that means that the entire achievement was deleted for them or even another one..

Can we also know which achievement please?

some users on the high score have the same number on their profile so that means they didn't lose any achievement..

Perhaps those users have already been to their achievement page and their score has updated, or maybe they already earned two new achievements and so it just looks like their count hasn't moved?

Or, as said, perhaps they didn't have duplicates to begin with.

This is the sort of thing that i think REALLY should be mentioned in a site update thing and it should DEFINITELY have been noted which achievement it was and what EXACTLY was "duplicated" and removed. Some of us work really hard on those things and "losing" them (or just seeing our number go down without explanation) is super discouraging. I'm pretty sure i got ripped off on some achievements back when there was that big update to the system but there's no way to know what went missing out of so many things. It took me a while to trust the achievement system again and this doesn't help. =/
