I am personally a big fan of quotes. I kinda just want to know what quotes really speak to other people and if there is a story behind it. Right now my favorite quote is from the movie Liberal Arts, "There is no reason to be afraid, because everything is okay."
What is your favorite quote?
. . .
I have a few I really like. The reasons are diverse.
"Boldness is a mask for fear, however great." ~John Dryden "Consistency requires you to be as ignorant today as you were a year ago." ~ Bernard Berenson "In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends." ~ Martin Luther Jr. King "Always acknowledge a fault. This will throw those in authority off their guard and give you an opportunity to commit more." ~ Mark Twain
I quite like these Frank Herbert quotes (whose Dune series I highly recommend, by the way):
“Caution is the path to mediocrity. Gliding, passionless mediocrity is all that most people think they can achieve.” Frank Herbert, God Emperor of Dune
“Most civilisation is based on cowardice. It's so easy to civilize by teaching cowardice. You water down the standards which would lead to bravery. You restrain the will. You regulate the appetites. You fence in the horizons. You make a law for every movement. You deny the existence of chaos. You teach even the children to breathe slowly. You tame.” Frank Herbert, God Emperor of Dune
Bonus quote from Walt Whitman: "I am large, I contain multitudes."
I have quite a few favourites, but one of them is definitely from Buddha, which is 'rule your mind, or it will rule you.'
I also really like: "You attract the right things when you have a sense of who you are" -- Amy Poehler "The ache for home is in all of us, the safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned" -- Maya Angelou "I'm rarely bored alone; I am often bored in groups and crowds" -- Laurie Helgoe "Reading gives us some place to go when we have to stay where we are" -- Mason Cooley
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away." -Philip K. Dick
Is a definite favorite alongside other quotes of his.
A lot of people have said it in different variations, but I've always loved:
Etc.
This is a little less serious than everything else I'm seeing here but it's honestly such a good thing to remember and has helped me a lot in work and school and life in general:
"Never half-ass two things. Whole-ass one thing." -Ron Swanson, Parks & Recreation
I also occasionally find lines from books and movies I grew up with help me get motivated and stay hopeful, and sometimes even just because I'm hearing a certain character's voice saying the line, such as, "Good luck, Harry Potter," in the original Professor Dumbledore's voice. It just makes me feel like somebody's expecting great things from me, you know?
Some of my favorites: "Life, with its rules, its obligations, and its freedoms, is like a sonnet: You're given the form, but you have to write the sonnet yourself." - A Wrinkle In Time "Where we're going, we don't need roads." - Back to the Future "Never say good-bye, because saying good-bye means going away, and going away means forgetting." - Peter Pan "Anyone can make a mistake, Svengal. It’s how they learn from it and recover from it that shows their true worth." - The Invaders by John Flanagan
They're mostly from books but I read a lot so it's to be expected.
"I'll burn that bridge when I come to it."

He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree.
It's best when you say it as far away from Christmas as possible.
"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." -- Dr. Seuss
"Some things you see with your eyes, others you see with your heart." -- Land Before Time
"i do not agree with what you have to say, but i'll defend to the death your right to say it" by voltaire
"don’t feel sorry for yourself. only assholes do that" from murakami's norwegian wood
"i opened myself to the gentle indifference of the world" from camus' l'etranger
... i better stop now because i'm kind of obsessed with quotes and could probably talk about my favorites for hours. ; 3 ; those three would have to be my favorites though since i can relate to them 101% haha.
Robert Brault — 'Eventually soulmates meet, for they have the same hiding place.'

"When you change perspective, reality changes." I've heard this from various places, one was Pokemon Ruby, I believe.
"In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: it goes on." Robert Frost
There's more, I love quotes myself.
it's from a work strained through a few filters of childish belief and amused irony, but "today is a good day to do what has to be done by me" is something i repeat to myself for motivation
"What is a friend? A single soul dwelling in two bodies." -Aristotle
“There is nothing I would not do for those who are really my friends. I have no notion of loving people by halves, it is not my nature.” -Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey
"Remember kids, the only difference between screwing around and science is writing it down." -Adam Savage from Mythbusters, and it definitely applies
I have a feeeeew, most of which I don't want to butcher in an attempt to type them from memory, but one that means a lot to me is: "She always had the feeling that it was very, very dangerous to live even one day," which is from Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolfe.

"This, too, shall pass."
I have anxiety-related issues that make me feel like my whole life will be changed for the worse, irreversibly, if something bad happens. Reminding myself that life will, in fact, go on, guaranteed, is very calming to me.
Mine would be the quote in my signature, I love the movie and this quote in particular is something I really cling to when I feel terrible :)
