Aderyn considered Emmy's () words.
"You're right," she said with a nod. "I wonder if that would create some werewolf side effects in an otherwise human person. Whiskers, or claws, or fur..."
Millie felt a little overwhelmed. She wondered what her father would think about all this. She smiled and watched everything very carefully but wasn't exactly sure what to say.
"The Ministry refused to let Uncle have a license to brew his potion for other werewolves," Paddy replied to Ethel (), "they said it wasn't better than Wolfsbane so hecould only brew enough for his personal use. Come to think of it, I'm not sure they realised he was making enough for me as well."
Paddy fell silent as Magnus () said his theory. She would love to not be a werewolf, so how could anyone choose to turn into one whenever they wanted? The whole thing was too much for her to get her head around.
"A protective potion against lycanthropy, or a cure sounds perfect, Aderyn ()" she said. "But Emmy's () right - I don't think the Ministry would even consider that. Given their reaction to Uncle's potion, I think they're more uncertain of werewolves than they care to let on." Paddy tailed off, secretly relieved that her classmates were a lot more accepting than the Ministry had ever been.

"Dunno," he said with a shrug, "the attacks I've 'eard about are more than a scratch so can't say really. But I do reckon I'd be willin' to let someone tinker with Wolfsbane an' try it on me see if augmenting the potion might do the trick. Seems ta me that since it 'elps to keep the human mind, that the potion itself might be the first start to a cure, or preventative. Course, would 'ave ta 'ave a safe room ta put me in, case it don't work too good."
Aderyn nodded as apoke.
"The ministry is just afraid of things they don't understand," she reasoned. "Maybe one day, when our generation takes over for the last, we'll have a better shot of making life easier for everyone."
"You're much braver than I am, Magnus," Paddy said with surprise at his willingness to be a werewolf guinea pig, "I can't say I enjoy being a werewolf, but I wouldn't have the guts to try something like that."
She thought about what Aderyn said for a few moments, "you're right, I think the Ministry just likes to stay with its comfortable belief about everything. It'll definitely take a long time to change things with them, but I hope it will happen eventually."
( )

"Dunno 'bout brave but well not much can 'urt so I'd likely just be more wolfy worse comes to worse. If it saved people it'd be worth it." He shrugged. He wasn't sure why but he felt none of the potions could really harm him so it didn't feel like much risk.
Paddy thought about that for a minute. "Good point, but I still say that takes more courage than I have. No wonder the Hat put you in Gryffindor!"

"I think that change could start with our generation. With more of us becoming better aware of issues like lycanthropy, I imagine we could accomplish a lot!"
She smiled warmly, hoping that her dream of a better world for all of them wasn't just a dream - that it would one day become a reality.
(OOC: OMG I AM SO SORRY! Apparently I either deleted all events or didn't get them! I have been sort of busy and lost track! I shall get us back to our ways!)
"It thought of Slytherin for awhile," he said laughing, "probly 'cos I do like to get into trouble."

Beth listened and wrote down notes on what had been discussed. Paddy and Magnus were brave, telling their stories. She couldn't imagine how difficult it must be to be a werewolf. She'd never met a werewolf before coming to Hogwarts. She wondered if she should ask Professor Mathers some more about Wolfsbane Potion.
Gaia stepped in to the stage. "This portion of the session is now over, but I wanted to round up some points." Beaming at her friends she gave Magnus () and a hug each "Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us! Please take a seat with the rest of the group and I left some water bottles for you on the edge of the stage." As her friends started to leave the stage everyone clapped including Gaia, she had asked her friends to give the group insight on werewolves but had no idea how much they would actually learn. "As () Emmy pointed out a scratched person might show werewolf tendencies. Books tell tales of wolf-like behavior on wizards who have survived an attack and have had a healer tend to their wounds. Examples of this can be small like preferring rare meat, burst of anger or even enjoying being outside more than they did before, others can have telling scars of an attack and have more wolf like behavior, one example of this is a Weasley brother, a Hogwarts Alumni, who was attacked by a werewolf." Gaia stopped as if gathering her thoughts "I think that Aderyn () is right. As a new generation of witches and wizards some of us might feel the incline to find a cure and to find ways in helping as healers. I believe that combining muggle technology with magic might be key to finding the cure, but that is just my opinion. New things are discovered every day, but it is brave people like Magnus and Paddy that help us be a better generation. If there are any questions about this now is the time. If not please thank our guest speakers." Gaia clapped once more towards her friends she felt proud and happy even though they were the same age. There is wisdom in what they have been through and she really appreciated that.
With a wave of her wand Gaia posted a sign on stage. As you get close you notice a note and a schedule.
January 4th: Fairies (Guest Speaker) HOOT: Owl habits: Owl care at Hogwarts (Owlery) January 13: Winged Horses -Abraxan -Aethonan -Granian -Thestral
-Students are welcome to help in clean-up and brain storming the next creatures to be discussed in future sessions during the break. Gaia will continue to be around for questions or concerns!-
Gaia gasped "I almost forgot! Next session bring your copy of in case you want to use your books as a guide or to make notes!" Holding her copy up for everyone to see.
Magnus blushed deeply as Gaia hugged him and thanked him. The continued praise made him ruffle his hair again. He think he mumbled no problem as he grabbed a water bottle and headed off stage. He wondered if he'd have his own owl by the next Hoot meeting. He and Paddy slipped over beside Sam.
Aderyn clapped for Magnus () and as finished her speech, appreciating their input so much. She felt like she better understood werewolves as people and lycanthropy as a condition now that she'd heard about it all from two real werewolves, and she was thankful for the knowledge she'd gained. As students began to mill about and head off, she nudged Emmy (), gesturing to the room around them.
"Shall we stack chairs?"
Paddy blushed as Gaia gave her and Magnus a hug. She hadn't been looking forward to speaking in front of the group, especially on that particular subject, but everyone had seemed so eager to learn that it'd turned out being more fun than she'd thought was possible. "I hadn't realised you could be so confident at speaking in front of everyone," she said to Magnus (), "I'm still amazed at how accepting everyone seems to be."

()
"Thank you for doing that! I was going to ask you if you could stay a few minutes. Given our next subject I figured you would like to have a chat!" Gaia beamed and started folding chairs with her friends.
Emmy clapped along with the others as the speeches ended and turned to Aderyn as she spoke.
"Yeah, sure!" she said with a smile, helping her friend stack chairs as the students got up and began to leave. "That was very interesting, what do you think?"

🦋
Aderyn nodded with a grin.
"Absolutely! No problem!"
She turned to look at Emmy () as she straightened a short stack of chairs they'd just finished with, pushing it aside to make way for another.
"Yeah, it was. I love learning about all manner of half-breeds, born or made. There's so much diversity out there!"
