I, too, came across this article today. FWIW, I highly support Keith working an office job, I'm just curious to find out what that means for Subeta.

I played Neopets until September when something like this happened... So with that in the back of my mind I'm fucking worried.

Sincerely hoping that if this happens, the "reins" are being handed over to someone who's already on staff, used to be, or at the least, someone from NG. We're a spoiled userbase even when Subeta is attempting to be progressive and we've had more than a decade to get used to be being vocal about it. Kinda glad Subeta isn't being sold in the case that we scare the new boss-person away. x:

I haven't been on NP forever and WHAT. What is that. Why does it exist.

I'm imagining the items we rag on our artists about for, like, thick shading and stuff, and basically LOL.

Like others, I will reserve judgement until I actually see this happen, as office jobs are just... not fun. No. And it doesn't take long to realize that. lol

But, if this does happen... FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, HIRE SOME DAMN PROGRAMMERS TO DO A SITE RECODE. We constantly here the excuse that we can't get more programers because no one knows the code except the people that are here... and if we lose Keith, then we REALLY NEED THE CODE TO BE UPDATED SO OTHERS CAN ACTUALLY BE HIRED AND ADVANCE THE SITE.

Unless you

• are making good money (aka >6 figs that doesnt start with a "1"),
• do something you really really love for a living (not just like it)
• are high up to have free enough reign tied with job security
• have high end opportunities, eg exPat
• (if young) have travel options, because even then when you travel you have time restrictions, meetings, bureaucracy,
• etc etc

im not saying you cant like your job if you dont have ^ above. but, it wont be "dreamy."

I personally would take major issue with that 'friend' for misquoting and if, as you say, even going so far as embellishing parts of the article. You might want to warn your friend that journalists who do that tend to get sued. Or fired. And other such things. Just so they know, for future reference ;)

GOOD. I was worried for a few seconds there that we would get sold out to something like viacom or jumpstart and subeta would go down the same toilet path as neo, glad to hear we are stuck with you! :)

Thank you @ rah and @ keith for dispelling this as a rumor then (technically not even a rumor, just misinformation).

I only brought this up based on what I've witnessed going on at Neo (what everyone else has mentioned is only a mere fraction of the hell unleashed over there). Can't help but love Subeta, so I definitely jumped the gun this time! xD
