Ping Usernames with Special Characters

People with underscores in their usernames can't be searched for.

Not sure If I should post this in here or start a bug thread, but right after the fix I was receiving pings and now they seem to be going through but I'm not actually receiving them. (My name is bolded and is a link to my profile as a proper ping would be but I was not notified of the ping - Example Post ).

Because you didn't put it in brackets. It should be (without the spaces) [ @ Ryuu-Ryuga ]
[@ Ryuu-Ryuga] Well that person pinged you with the underscore version ( @ Ryuu_Ryuga ), not the new thing that's specifically for special characters, which, as I said in the first post, is unreliable (and honestly always has been).
edit: okay well crap someone having the username ryuu apparently will mess that up either way, however what i said to you, , still applies. you have to use the brackets if the username has a - in it.
I used them originally, and edited them out when they showed in the post, similar to what happened when you pinged [user=Ryuu-Ryuga]
well the reason for that is the fact that there's a user , which i am pushing a fix for right now! :)
@ grelca I got your ping, but it's showing up broken now (maybe due to the edit?). Oh well, I suppose I found what to use my loyalty box for XD This is still a nice update for people that it works for though!

Yep c: I left the post unedited for a bit (well, other than the oops sorry to in case they got it) but eventually edited it, didn't want to to be ugly/going to Ryuu jic. And [user=Ryuu-Ryuga] eventually let me know they did still get it, but originally I wasn't sure c:
yeah it is actually sending the ping out, i's just pinging them both and only showing in the post. the fix that i thought i had wasn't actually 100% right, but i will get it! regular expressions are confusing sometimes haha

Thanks for this change, I'm glad that when you click on the person's ping button, it automatically adds the necessary brackets. It would be annoying to manually put the brackets.

Pings aren't working again, even with the brackets around the name ~ ^.^ ~

edit: you seem to have gotten that ping, though, and the code hasn't changed, so it might take some time for me to figure out? can you link me to a post where someone's pinged you and it didn't work? :)

[-Guru] i'm going to guess you meant the one a few posts down from yours? that person just typed -guru, which is why you didn't get pinged.
