I thought there were ways that Epicon could have been improved upon, and one of those things was giving additionals ways to participate to the people that don't want to play games, be it because they physically can not due to the format of the game, or they simply dislike games.

I also don't really want to see the same events rehashed year after year. Holidays are one thing, those go hand in hand with site lore. Epicon? Not so much.

That said, I PERSONALLY would participate in this if it was questing only. My suggestion was based on what others were saying about how they dislike the idea. You can say tough shit to those people, or you could look for ways to make your idea one that more people will get excited about.

It already happened this last few days with some Esther quest items, A lot of the items have been inflated and her quests have been out what? 1 day? 2 days? Just got asked for this which a few days ago, was less than 10k. and some poundcake...can't remember which one she asked for, but it was 250k and a few days ago it was also less than 10k. A lot of opportunists also inflate the items because they know that people need them for the event... Love you guys optimism though. I'll try not to say I told you so when it happens.

This is a good point - Maybe an average or something per day? Idk. But Yeah, can't really punish people for having lives.

I definitely like the idea of weekly quest requirements than daily (miss one day and your done isn't fun nor does it go well with helping others if you miss one day and are out), and definitely something that someone could achieve in one single day if they did at least most of their quests (something around 25-35?). Help what they can but not so little that it really isn't helping.

Also, to the notion of inflation-- worse case scenerio the vending limit could always be upped for the duration of the event y'know. Maybe the wizard can give out more tokens (akin to WSQ) and the vending limit can go from 250/500 (I think that's what it is for non-GA/GA?) to like 500/750? And vending could be adjusted to pump out the specific types of items quests are asking for (like food and weapons, for example).

We actually have had plans for a system kind of like this (BUT SORT OF WITH TEAMS I'M SORRY) for ages, but I'm totally willing to toss up a couple of these in the meantime.

I like the idea of total quests. We also did one AGES ago during a plot (I think it was with king keith, omg) that required donating a ton of sP to get the plot started, but can you guys think of other areas of the site that could use this kind of massive weeks long focus?

I actually sort of miss the RS Wars, I never managed to catch one because I'm notorious for being in and out of Subeta depending on work responsibilities (at the time of the Wars I think I was still in school, which also had to take precedence), so I'd love to play one of those. I guess it would probably upset the new restocking protocols, though.

Um... quests is a pretty good one, especially since people are restricted on the amount they can do per day, so nobody can sit around doing hundreds a day just to be the big winner. An item donation, based on rarity maybe? The Recycle Beast already noms certain items per day, expanding a donation event to all Common items for example would raise prices and encourage people to restock some items as well, which would get money out of the economy. But I wouldn't suggest doing a type of item, like Plushies or Beanbags, because that would make collections much more difficult to complete, or even start for a new user.

The game suggestion is good too, requiring a certain amount of wins across certain games site-wide, because I rarely play the Subeta games and that would encourage me to.

Hunting for: (It's the only beanbag I need for a full collection!)

I had thought of something awhile ago, a newish twist on a Restock War? Where you get points for restocking items, and you also get points for turning items in to your Team Captain. Idk if that would mess a bunch of shit up, but I know the idea of a restock war is a huge disaster now because it floods the market with items. But I thought it would sort of counter that a little bit to turn those items in to the leader/captain and get points for that, too? And get points for any rarity, or at least lower than the 'rare' that you need to get restock points. So that way people who can't/don't like the pressure of restocking rare items during a war, can restock the lower rarity items, or turn in all the useless crap they have rotting on their account.

This would be an sp sink because people would be restocking (I know I personally spent like 12m just restocking during the last war, and I was sick for half of the event :P), would get items back out of the system, and would possibly take out even more items.

Idk, food for thought? You have all of that 'secret data' that could probably crunch the numbers and probabilities of whether it would really work, but I think it would be fun.

Maybe you could turn each type of item back into the shopkeeper? It could be a site-wide item drive for... idk, some charity or something. OOH yeah I like that better than the teams, this way it could be a thing without teams.

TEAMS CAN BE FUN BUT IT'D BE NICE TO HAVE SOMETHING ONCE IN A WHILE THAT EVERYONE FOCUSES ON ACCOMPLISHING INSTEAD OF JUST PICKING SIDES AND STUFF.

Also hm a weeklong thing that could use focus... you mean like battlepalooza :'D? Like last time with throwback challengers and throwback loot/new loot that gets everyone excited and into battling BUT each day we have battling goals and a new challenger that doesn't have any loot tied to it (day 1: easy, day 2: medium, day 3: hard, etc etc) and if we hit the previous goal the next day we unlock the new one. If you can't beat anything harder that's okay because you can still beat the one's you can beat every day because they reset and all of them count as like 1 point (and there should be a daily max, we all know battlers) (otherwise there will be 50 people with 569038409535 points).

Boons could be the challenger themed loot as long as you participated the day before and the number of battles goal was met (which means no weapons, just collectibles-- achievements-- wearables-- etc). So if people still want the loot from the harder stuff, they could literally just beat the easy guys 15-20 times and still get the loot for participating. Then the last day we can freely battle for loot business as usual, as long as the overall goal was met (which means battlers can get several copies/exp/amulets/whatever the loot is-- maybe a weapon if there was one fro the harder guys, or the weapon could scale and be used by everyone idk.. community?).

[edit] Also I always kinda liked restock wars too haha. It'd be fun if it was a themed restock war, yeah? Like, TODAY CHARITY IS REALLY REALLY AFTER FOOD TO MAKE FOOD FOR THE MASSES AFTER TEMPEST GOT A COLD AND ACCIDENTALLY ALL OF CENTROPOLIS ):! Then the next day we could be restocking anything with a select few words for someone else (like idk, "Dark, Evil, Blood, Purple, Black" for maleria.. any restockable!) and clothing drives/toy drives/etc, something different each day.

And y'know, if the prices of these items crash... quest week :'D? Massive amounts of Crystal Shop items to warrant fragging all of it.

I have some more ideas of chllenges, tell me what do you think :)

  1. Pawn shop - clear the pawn shop, if we succeed, we get prizes.

  2. Fragmentizer - frag X amount of items, the prizes will be at the crystal shop for a low price of crystals.

  3. RS challenge - RS X amount of items from one shop.

  4. Gifts - send X amount of gifts to each other.

I support this, would be really cute and fun! Would be pretty fun to do around Luminaire time when everyone is around and the site is feeling nice and cuddly with Christmas cheer anyway :D

Ideas for mass community events:

  • +100 for Andrea's battle week suggestions.

  • Reopen the Steele excavation site to dig for cool items - donate sP to get his funding back to dig. Give participants extra shots at Crypts/increased chances at winning, everyone access to Byakorus for X amount of days, increased restocking of rare items in Sacred Lands shops (SPELL ITEMS DEAR LORD PLEASE), free Healer costs etc etc.

  • Mass minion feeding/minion drive. Minions are so underused by the site, can we have a mad cat lady adopt them or something, and for tiers of minions 'saved' by the community the chance of the minion bubbles popping raises? Increase the chances of minions being turned instead of destroyed by the Zapper etc.

  • Another EPICon where the prize shop unlocks in tiers of amount of users that play the game X times, but have the prize shop be in sP.

Whatever gets done, this is a really cool thread! Thanks for the suggestion and woohoo that Keith is on board.

I really love this idea, especially the idea of it not being competitive! I've participated in virtually all site events for the past few years (I believe I missed one due to being sick a year or two ago, hah, but otherwise..) and I would really love an event where everyone works together rather than competing against each other. Wars are fun, but also kind of stressful and frustrating, to me anyway, and I just think it'd be really great to have all the active users (who want to participate) work toward a goal, rather than being divided up into teams.

yes i really do need more

Totally just read that as 'titties'.

I'd like to see a stickers-based event, with points scored for every sticker added that a user didn't previously have, or something. I really like that stickers require someone else to add them to your collection; it inherently encourages user interaction. However, it's the same feature which means it's a bit underused.

So y'know as of late there's been a ton of boards/talk in relation to both restocking and vending, problems with balance between the two and rapid deflation of items and sP and all that good stuff?

Well, I was rambling on another board (shocking, I know) thinking that it seems backwards to try and control the flow of items and maintain item prices when there's really no outlet for a lot of these effected items in the first place-- and that there should be an outlet for them, ie: quest givers, to suck them out of the economy before a balance could be found in regards to should something vend or should it not/what needs to be retired/etc.

That thought aside (I already left it all over the feedback restocking board)... couldn't the focus of removing these items from the system be a fun working together week offensive thing?

Like every day every single quest is unlocked to everyone (so people who don't have Carl can do Carl and everyone can do Saggi + Sarah) and every single quest giver asks for a specfic theme of item every day? Day one is wears, day two is minions, day three is plushies, etc etc. Idealy, the quests would need to be changed to specifically ask for items that are under a certain amount (5k?) as the goal would be to get the bulk of them out of the system?

There could be a relevant achievement (with tiers?) every day to match the items being asked for, with a surprise relevant achievement prize to be awarded the following day for everyone who does x amount of quests the day before (something like, idk... 10-20?). So wearable day = wearable, minions day = minion, etc etc. Then there could be a meta achievement counting the total number of quests done each day, and at the end of the week anyone who did x% of the quests could get like a special quest themed gift bag full of random collectable items and stuff.

That'd be a total of 10 different quests every user could do and for the sake of it, 100 quests per day should be the maximum amount counted if there was going to be a highest tier (which is the max dooable if a non-GA did every single quest-- if anything the perk of a GA would be that you had room to quit some if you wanted too.. or, if the items were cheap.. to do more quests) which would be 700 total quests if it ran 7 days or 500 total quests if it ran 5 days (M-F?) depending entirely on how many item themes are currently extremely deflated.

So if a user did 25% of quests in order to qualify for the special gift bag sorta thing that'd be roughly 175/700 or 125/500 quests having to be completed-- which @ 100 possible a day is something someone could almost do in an entire day if they missed every single other day. OR it could just be 100 quests to qualify which would require someone to do every single quest one day if they missed every single other day, which I don't think is unreasonable considering they COULD do it in one day (they'd potentially just loose sP worst case scenerio).

[edit] To add to this-- there should be no item given out while questing, during this event. The whole point is to remove items, not remove a few and add more in otherwise the sheer amount of people questing wouldn't actually accomplish anything.

we need some viable permanent sP sinks first and then that would be a much better idea.
