Yes I'd love this! It's a shame that if you want certain TC item, you need to make a crappy wearable version to be able to submit as a CW that most people won't even buy. I really see no harm in making custom items with other uses. Why are wearables any different or special? And even more yes for making them available for sP. I'm sure that'd take a crapload of sP from the economy.

Still, I think they shouldn't count for collections. Yes, they won't be distributed by users. But even if they're unlimited, what happens if I'm one plushie away from completing my collection, and suddenly users decide to add 200 custom plushies to the site so I need to spend another billion to complete it? And if staff regulates how much are released at time, what happens when I submit an item but there're a lot being released already? I pay a bunch of CSC, and see my item released maybe a year later with no notice? Unless they're dirty cheap, I don't think making them count for collections is a good thing.

Staff adding a lot of items to the site when you're one or two away from collecting is part of the risks of collecting. At least, they'd be in a easier place than the LOL REFERRAL SHOP.

200 restockables > 2 referral shop items.

Fuck to the yes for custom items. Fuck to the no about them being possible for collections.

On a real note though, I feel like if Subeta ever did let us make custom items, they would want them to be just like CWs, because hot damn that revenue.

If I remember correctly, they were taken away because they took up too much of the artist staff's time. Hell, I remember Keith saying as much when they were taken down on site because I joined UA staff right when they got rid of the staff customs so I never got mine.

The Dream Dragon if I remember correctly was DebiLee's staff custom, but I digress.

I'd be ok with a user drawn custom items but I can easily see a staff version that's similar to the old system taking up too much of the staff's time and staff focusing more on the custom items than they would on site items. It was one of the main issues with the original custom items on site and I don't see why it wouldn't be an issue now.

However, I have no issue with a user drawn system that's similar to the current CW system though.

did all staff get customs? i distinctly remember the kitty following being rah's kitty following or something to that tune... memory is not my strong suit, admittedly. i was around for all of this, but it's all just a blur for me.

but yeah, given the demand for CWs as is, i don't imagine the CIs would be any less popular. so if the items were staff drawn, i could see them getting overwhelmed more or less immediately. that's why, despite folks voicing their desire for staff-drawn items both on this thread and 's thread, i can't in good conscience agree with it.

Same.

Honestly, if we exclude collection and wearables, we exclude books, beanbags, plushies, wearables, minions and foods. This is starting to be a lot of exclusions.

I'd rather have them collectable, but released little by little. If there are too many plushies in the queue, or too many minions, put them on a halt and release them a month, a month and half later.

DebiLee had a ton of customs, some of which were personal paid customs and not staff but yes, up until customs were completely done away with in 2007, all staff got a personal custom item. The Dream Dragon was her actual personal staff custom but she had a bunch of other customs on site that were paid for with money and weren't staff customs though. A lot of staff never actually got their custom item though because their items were never finished before the custom system was abolished.

I'm assuming collection customs would be public and not able to be made private. If they were limited release or staff released a certain amount per month but anyone could buy it then I don't necessarily think people would be angry. If they were able to be made private like certain items are in the current cw system though I could see a lot of people, myself included pitching a fit because then there'd be no way EVER to actually complete any collection.

I love the idea of user drawn customs. I think this idea has the most potential to bring more money into the site, which we all know is desperately needed if Subeta's ever going to push for the recode it needs (or just stay operational as time goes on).

I don't like the idea of the items being collectible (tradings cards, plushies, beanbags, pumpkins, bobbleheads, tiles, and sticker collections shouldn't be eligible for user drawn items in my opinion), and I also don't think we should have staff drawn custom items (unless it's a staff artist taking commission work in their spare time such as we see in the CW market now). I wasn't around when the staff drawn system was in place previously, but staff drawn customs just seems like it would lead to a number of issues (most of which have already been discussed on this board, so I won't rehash). I think user drawn, non-collectible items are a great way to increase revenue though while also keeping users happy.

No privates. Nope. Absolutely no privates, we already have a trainwreck known as CWs.

Might as well put emphasis on the "no private" part in the first post?

Also, can anyone give me a legit good reason why they shouldn't be collectable, especially if they're put in the main shops? Impossible to complete a collection is not an argument, as they're either going to be put in a MC shop with a permanent stock, or be restockable.

I haven't seen a good reason so far.

good idea. i've made some tweaks to my op in the wake of recent discussions (which are very much appreciated, to everyone who's brought up counterpoints. i'd like to get the kinks ironed out of this before staff has a chance to "lol no" my awesome suggestion)

Oh course YES!!! :)

Just one question, can it be a collection item (plushie, trading card etc) and can it be added to the collections?

I think this is a great idea. I agree with everyone who says that the custom items should be mid range rarity for restocking in the main shops or put into the MC where they are always available. Another always available outlet could be the Quest Shop.

The items would be site items which players actually want.

Basically I don't want 1,000 new items added to the site a year that are private, or there are only 3 of on the site, regardless of if they can be used for other things.

I'm watching this thread :)!

But I don't think staff would add 200 official plushies that cost a few millions each in a single day. They have more regulation for this kind of stuff. So you don't wake up the next day and see you're now a few billions away from completing the collection, when you already spent years and quite a few billions on it. If the CW market has taught me something, is that things can go CRAZY. We're years away from the CW feature release and still get around 5 new items every day. Just imagine how many custom items will be released on the first months. Making so that you need over 100m sp a month to KEEP UP with collection releases would make them impossible to everyone who doesn't spend real money on the site.

Also, referral items are easy to get. You just need to be annoying and ask EVERYONE if they're selling them :P

Because the 60$ and 100$ plushies in the cash shop were so much better. Or the retired pirate and islander plushies

"It's going to be harder to finish a collection" is not a good argument, sorry. Collections are meant to be hard, and considering people whine about anything challenging, restockable and MC is the best deal you'll get, considering they're two out of the four easiest ways to get a thing (Free Gift and Token Shop being the other two)

Do you mean the mystical plushies? Because I can't remember other plushies that expensive, and those were already released in a better way. And yeah the pirate plushies are horrible to complete collections. But because they made a mistake in the past doesn't mean making more mistakes is totally ok.

I think it's a good argument. Collectios are meant to be hard yes, but they ARE already terribly hard. Adding more and more super hard to get items to them will eventually make them impossible. Making users responsible on how many items are released will already cross the line between super hard and impossible imo. Not only you need to save a lot to keep up with releases, but you also need to make a bunch of extra to save for the already released items, which I dare to say it's around 5b for plushies alone.

We'll just agree to disagree, then. Personally, even if there is 250 cute foods or minions added in a day, bring on the foods and minions, because I will buy so many of them.

I'm putting faith in staff in their ability to gauge that if, there is too much of something at once, don't release them all at the same time.

Because you have something known as a Custom Wearable, which is a feature the site has had for years.
