Well of course we're the ones up in arms about it, since we're the ones most directly affected by it. And if you don't have the dedication to hit a button every day, that's your problem, not mine. Just because you can't do it, doesn't mean I shouldn't be rewarded because I can.

There are many, different types of rewards on Subeta. Different types of games, different types of activities. Not everyone will be as dedicated as other people. Not everyone will be as skilled as other people. Not every person will like every available activity. Variety is the spice of life.

I can't play Cybill Sledding because it makes me nauseous for hours after I try, every single time. No amount of practice is ever going to change that. But do I complain about the high score list? No, I just work on other high score lists that I can work my way onto. Nor I do wish to see that list cleared so I can briefly appear on the list if I happen to be the first one to finish a game at 12:01 am on the first of the month. Nor is there any cachet to being on such high score tables, after all, there's nothing special about being on a list that takes no effort to get onto.

One of my long term goals on here has been to get onto several high score lists. But it isn't anymore. No real achievement to doing it now, no point.

LOL and everything on this site is based on clicking things!

The only high score table I was supposed to be on was Burrero Basket Bonanza, which I played every day ten times a day. But that high score table had been broken for months and months before this update.

So no, arcade games you do not sit, play, and be done in five minutes. I played that game every day for months on end. It takes more than five minutes to beat the high score playing that game. It actually takes three minutes exactly to get the payout score (2500). So please, don't tell me that's how it works.

Now that's it fixed (ha I'm assuming) I'm happy that it's going to reset every month. That means that if I do get on there, I have a challenge the next month to get on there again. So I'll CONSTANTLY be coming back to play.

And as to why cumulative scores /don't/ work... is because there is no competition. You have so many years on some here, you're going to have an obvious advantage, no matter how much they "click", or play the flash games. There's just no chance. Without the competition, people aren't going to stick around. Competition drives people.

WIth a regular high scores table, you're constantly fighting to stay on top. Oh no, someone kicked you out a spot? That means you have to play all over again, and get better. It's not just once and stop.

As for the cumulative scores, if we went by the old table, you literally could stop playing (I'm just going to use Random since that's literally the stupidest game we have) for months at a time and still be in the first or second spot. Even if I played Random every day, every 1.5 hours, at least 8 times a day (that's 12 hours of my day spent on here, making sure I come on to click a button), and got 9k each time, it would still take me 3/4 of the year to get to 20mil. Now, that's assuming you and the other top spots didn't play that entire time so I could catch up. That's not even feasible.

Scarsdale asked me for my opinion/feedback/etc and I offered it. obviously, neither of us are going to change our opinion and that is fine. I will not continue a pointless discussion with you about it.

You asked me a question. I answered it. You should've stopped pinging me along time ago then.

I was on the Burrero Basket Bonanza high score list, and yes, it desperately needed to be fixed. But you know what, I played once, got that high score and haven't played, quite literally, since I got that high score, because why bother. I've beaten the game and I don't need to come back and bash my head against the wall again and again. I also hit the top score in Net Gain, eventually dropped down the list and still never came back to play to "regain" my title, because, again, I didn't need to. I hit the top already. Yeah, I toyed with the idea of getting back on top, but really, the game is just too boring to bother.

But with Random, I hadn't hit the point I wanted to hit and kept it up constantly. Even on days I did nothing else on the site, I made damned sure to come in every 1.5 to hit that button.

Everyone has different motivations for the things they do. For me, getting on a high score table that regularly gets wiped clean, really doesn't provide much thrill or any incentive to come back. If my achievement is going to be wiped out instantly, really, why the hell bother? Sure if I otherwise like playing the game, I'll play it because I enjoy it, but as a long-term goal that keeps me coming back day in and day out, it really doesn't work.

Yes, cumulative games are advantageous to people who've been around for a long time. Most everything gives advantages to people who are around for a long time. Games of skill also give advantages to people who have been around a long time because the more practice you get the better you get. You simply cannot have a game site, like subeta, that encourages long term goals and NOT have it be advantageous to long term users. That's kinda the point. But there are people on even the cumulative games that have been here less time than me who are ahead of me. So longevity along isn't enough.

And you know what, I was also once a newbie. I looked around the site and realized that there were some things that I would never have because I wasn't here from day 1. Well nothing can be done about that.

I have a goal that will take me 961 days to complete. Provided I do a little bit every day. Do I laugh at myself for that, think it'll never happen? Sure I do. But it still sits there in the back of my mind, even if only a very tiny part of me believes I'll ever get it done.

I do believe it was specifically asked peoples opinions on having cumulative high scores and specifically for random, if it should have a reset. Now anyone who's currently playing daily to stay on the top of the high scores list has no reason to be against it other than seeing that beautiful multi-million score turn to 0, since if they continue playing as much as they do, it's likely they'll be right back at the top. Anyone who doesn't play it regularly, well it obviously doesn't affect them that there would be a high score list for that, since they're not competing for it. It takes nothing away from the integrity of the other high score lists, and the tiny bit of sP it generates from the HS list payout is negligible. Saying that ancient arcade games with limited technology weren't able to keep track of cumulative scores didn't so nothing should, is just a terrible reason. Its a reasonably valid point that it takes no skill to click the button 16 times a day, and yet if someone is willing to put that much dedication in, there's no reason to stop rewarding them. Other high scores tables reward someone who got lucky one day with a mega score but had to play so long straight they're burnt out on the game just as much as someone who is mediocre and plays 10x daily, its a pretty good system to have, best of both worlds :).
