By looking at how much people change the price ;) Most users either fill in the same price as the item, or the nearest "easy" number even if it's a little more (2222 for example).

I'll consider dropping prices on all main shops items by like 10% or something, though, that's a good idea!

I liked the haggle function...I seem to be in agreement with a lot on that. I always haggled.. automatically rounded down when RS'ing. It does save a fair amount of SP, and not everyone has a discount card.

We are the ones who remember, the ones who see what was, and is, and will be. Me~

As has been said before, haggling was particularly nice for expensive items like elixirs and jewelry from All That Glitters, but ended up being negligible for smaller items. Some people relied on it to boost their income from RSing and some people found it a pain because it slowed down the purchasing process.

What about giving users the option to turn on/off haggling? That way, if you wanted to have an RSing spree at All That Glitters you could turn it on and still save some sP, but when buying items from lower-priced shops you could turn it off and have the advantage of the one-click-wonder purchase. If you're about to do a bunch of quests, you can either have it on and save sP or have it off and save time. If, as you say, not many users actually haggle, you shouldn't see that much of a difference in how effective of an sP sink it is but will have much happier users.

Oh, o.k., so we buy directly now, I see.
Not funny.
I always buy from main shops, if it is cheaper than user shops. Having to pay 15 % more is HUGE inflation! Kind of makes the discount card feel obsolete. Why do you think we bought them, to save money, because we need tons of it to try keeping up with only 1 part of the game in my case!

This is going to be hurting badly now for a long time, whenever I buy something. And it is going to increase prices on the user shops, too, naturally.

I&;m also one of those people that always haggles, but I think it&;s a fair trade off for the convenience. I&;ll mostly miss it for those times when I had to buy something from All That Glitters or the magic shop.

All of this.

Wow, no more haggling. What is this kindergarten and we need to have mommy shopkeeper make sure we put in the "exact" amount to make sure we "get it right"?

The telling me it's in my collection part is fine, but I'm major upset about the haggling thing.

Toggles just add a lot of complication to systems and require a lot of support. We won't be adding a toggle for things like this.

Just to clarify: this wasn't changed to act as a sP sink. It was changed to increase ease of use.

The assumption that "people who haggle don't need the sP!" is glaringly wrong. When I was new, and didn't have tons of sP, that couple hundred/thousand sP saved by haggling was really important.

It still kind of is.

I really don't understand the neverending obsession with punishing people for making money.

Oh well, I guess I'll make up for it by trying to remember to play a few games every day. At least, until those get nerfed, too, anyway...

Lemme join the major cheapskate/haggler group here. I always have my calculator up to offer 85% of the shop price, and I definitely need the sp I have trouble staying above a mil! spending/shop pricing issues Every little bit counts and haggling rewards people who are willing to put in those extra seconds. If most people want to be lazy and pay a lil more, so be it, they could be saving too though! It may have been brought over with little thought, but it's a feature that is really appreciated by those of us who use it! <3 <3 <3

Dropping the shop prices is a really nice consideration, and if dropping haggling really improves the site on the back end that much it's a compromise the rest of us should really live with I suppose, but it is a bummer. Haggling made the sp sink of buying from a shop appealing because that extra 15% made it cheaper than all the autopriced shops. (example: something sells in the NPC shop for 2250, 100 lazy restockers buy it at cost with their discount cards and so pay 1800, stick it in their shop for just over that. I need it for a quest, know I can type in 1913 and only pay 1530 for it. I buy up the rest of that stock to sell at the same 1800ish price as the others and get bonus profit. WIN!)

I like iciness' suggestion, but doubt it is going to happen.

...You could basically haggle down almost 20% of the item price which wasn&;t very good for getting sP out of the system if you worked out how much that was for the more expensive items...
If virtually nobody was using it, how would it defeat the overall purpose of sP sink?

I always use haggle but for only like 100sp off which isn't a big deal so if this makes it faster to get items then I'll let go of the 100sp discount

Curious though if the shop search is going to get the suggestions feature back since it was very useful when I could only think of part of the title of an item but it was a semi-common word?

It's shocking to see haggling gone, but I think I can get used to it. I imagine that if we'd never had haggling in the first place, not many people would be asking for it.

At least I earned a forum point. I hate changes. Now I have to set my brain to do a different calculation when comparing shop/user prices before buying. Now THAT increases purchase time ;).

As a haggler, this is very disappointing.

I sometimes don't bother buying from main shops at all during quests, if the price difference is very small. Being able to haggle, on top of having a discount card, meant it was usually worth spending an extra few seconds to buy from main shops instead of users though.

Now I'll probably be spending less in main shops, keeping my sP in circulation instead of removing it from the site.

HONK!
