This is an awesome idea! It may be a bit much for someone that has a ton of friends; so yes, it would be wise to add an option to turn the notifications on/off :)
ugh i have suggested and supported this a lot of times. if we could have a calendar or a page to see the birthdays if they have the option visible already
i know there are a few options to keep track of your friends birthdays, but they all involve asking them, and that can kill the surprise or if it's a new friend you don't have much contact or trust enough to ask them but still want to give them something, their birthdays would just add to your personal calendar or list
A suggestion to cut down on the amount of notifications for people who have tons of friends: option to only get notifications for favorite friends.
(Favorite friends is still a thing, right?)

Pleeeaaase. I never think to check. A notification a day or so ahead of time would be great.
I'd really like something like this; I almost missed a friend's birthday today. I don't always think to ask people when their bday is, so some sort of notification or page to keep track of that sort of stuff would be really handy.

Excellent idea! I like the additional ideas of it being 24 hours ahead of time and the option to turn it off too 👍
Please yes. For the people that have their cake option turned on, I think their friends should be notified about the b-day a day ahead of time.
Support for this part. If people are open about their birthday, then this could work. But there are some people who don't use the cake icon and don't want birthday things, so if they have the icon disabled I don't think an alert should expose them. :)

holyshit yes that way i know when i missed a friend's birthday, too, while i'm offline (and the decision to switch alerts between all friends/fav friends, thank)
