I think I'd like to see the one-time event currencies separated from ones you can earn daily or yearly in set events, if possible! But generally, I like currencies and I like working for them. I use my SP for other things :P

I like that it's in one place and we can see them. I don't mind the amount, either. I can see how new players might get a little confused, though, and maybe there could be some type of explanation.

I know this isn't about the layout of the page, but maybe breaking it up would help? You could have 'Standard' currencies or w/e you want to call them, e.g. Wizard Tokens, Crystals, Quest Points, Forum Points, and then 'Event' currencies as a seperate table underneath. Because most of the currencies won't be 'interacted' with on a daily basis; perhaps spilting them into two distinct tables will make it a bit less overwhelming. ?

Yeah, I think it's about time to organise the currency page into sections, I can understand it being daunting for new members.

I think a roller over description for each currency or if you clicked on them and they'd take you to a SubetaPedia (or whatever it's called) page with an explanation of how they can be earned would be helpful.

While I totally understand the reasoning behind adding new currencies, I do agree it is a lot. We have had 3 new currencies introduced already this year. At this rate by the time Subeta's 20 anniversary comes around we would have nearly 50 different types. I KNOW, they are not likely to add 3 or more a year. Just making a point, or trying to anyway.

I kind of like having all the different plot and event currencies.

There really are not that many currencies you can earn and use on a daily basis, and I don't think most people really try to earn significant amounts of every single currency every single day. I think seeing it split up would help a lot. Totally support having sections for "daily" currencies and "one-time" currencies.

I'm waiting on the "do this to earn a special currency to buy another type of special currency to buy special items". With the second currency costing 2x more than the first. No, I don't mean earning sp to buy the currency. lmao Oh gods, hopefully there won't be a games currency. :(

I understand why we have so many, but yeah. It does at times feel like I have to do this to buy that or overpay in sp to buy from user/shops if I can find the item. At least the forum shop doesn't have any items that interest me in the least. lol So I don't have to worry about having to post all the time for the chance.

I like all those currencies, but I woudn't mind some sorting such as regular, holiddays and plots / events so new people could understand more easily why those exist and why they cant get those yet / eved

I don't mind all the extra currencies on the site. I like being able to buy stuff with other things, rather than sP all the time - it makes things more interesting!

It's total overkill and I wouldn't mind seeing less new ones introduced and older ones phased out.

I prefer having and using other currencies to buy certain items. I think it's a lot of fun to acquire them :)

I personally really like all the currencies and don't mind that we have so many, and am game for more being introduced even. Like Keith said, it keeps events more engaging which some people may not like but the more page views and longer you stay on the site, better for Subeta. Plus, maybe it's just me, but I like getting items for "free" rather then having to spend SP on them.

I do agree that separate sections for event currencies and all-year-round ones would be a great idea. And maybe even and additional section for retired currencies. A short description pointing users on how to obtain the different currencies would be most welcome though I think.

I do mind SOME of the currencies (not a fan of the forum shop thing, I forsee me not spending hundreds of bucks a year on books once books are introduced into this foreseeable unobtainable shop unless the raffle tickets start flying into shelves like it's going out of style) (there's enough impossible/ridiculous to obtain collection things there's nothing justifiable about making MORE until the other pre-existing one's are made obtainable) (it's so much easier to just say well there's currently FOUR books I literally cannot buy... might as well stop buying any of them) existing, such as the brand new one I'm a huge mega not fan of, but not really so much that there's a ton of them.

It would kinda take away the mystique of events if all things were lumped together. HOWEVER, I did laugh at the OP because once upon a time the Oracle Tokens were culled because someone thought subeta had too many currencies and it was just confusing and he didn't want that anymore. And here we are, many years later with a huge list xD!

Not saying it was a mistake (outside of forum shop, amen to redeem a ticket for a random prize/pick a prize! Then they could stay rarer and if you didn't get what you wanted you could sell it-- this way, 25 is just ehhh) to have so many currencies, but I did laugh all the same.

I agree with the OP

I am not enclined to take part of the event because I can just go and buy the items from other people. Wow. Impressive.

So many of these currencies (lol 2010 epicon) should be phased out and replaced by sp. who is going to take part in 2010 epicon? no one, that's who.

That's because it's now a retired currency, and those items are now much harder to get.

I quite like all of the currencies and don't find them hard to manage at all, nor were they hard for me to learn about. It would be one thing if there was no organization, but to me everything is pretty cut and dry. I like the diversity and the various ways of obtaining each currency.

I think all the currency system is great, but I second having separate sections for seasonal/retired/obtainable currencies, just so it's not one big messy list. It always takes me a while to hunt down which shop I'm looking for right now. And while I don't care if some older currencies are phased out, it would be a bit unfair for those who still had them, even if notice was given.

I agree with the OP that there are a lot of currencies and first glance at the currency page gives too much information. Perhaps organizing the currencies in a way that made it easier to browse through and find a specific one would help the page look less cluttered. For example, group:

  • common currencies (currency that can be earned through daily activity on the site)
  • event currencies
  • retired currencies

Better organization would make searching much easier.

EDIT: I should note, I enjoy the currency system and it keeps me active on the site especially with events. It allows me to save sP for things that matter to me (ie: my battle fund) and collect seasonal and limited-time items I would otherwise think twice about purchasing. Yay currencies! =)

I think creating a short guide page on all the currencies the "other currencies" page links to would be a good idea (I mean if the site wants to inform like it's doing with the basic guide to battling). Also what said - dividing them into current, event/seasonal, and retired on the page would organize it better. Along with the guide, I think it would help the newer and returning players get a sense of what's going on. :)

I love that there are other currencies. I mean ... it could be worse. Points could just retire/disappear for good after an event. I think subeta's really nice in allowing us to hoard event and retired currencies instead of forcing us to spend them after the event is over (like some other sites I've been on). I have a feeling more people would be upset if we were forced to spend our points than if we were given the option to hoard them like we do now.

I think the really old EpiCon and Reading Drive should stay - maybe they won't use them, but they might. A lot of those items are super expensive anyways, so having a few more (potentially) come back into circulation wouldn't be bad! I'd also be happy if they where brought back to be earned so people can have access to them, since the ones from 2010 haven't had site-wide access for four years now. Same goes for the Islander/Pirate RS war.

As for the other currencies, I think Quest Points are fine how they are now -- they're a little extra reward doing quests, and I'll admit it, quests can get very tedious, very quickly. Quest Points give you a little bonus to buy food, plushies, and beanbags, and I'm sure anyone with those collections can really appreciate it! Not to mention, there is a fair amount of wearables, and plenty of things for a pet's treasure chest.

As for the "Holiday" currencies... I think the site would probably be fine if they where all combined together. If not all of them (ie: both Steamworks, Esther, New Years, Candy Hearts), I would atleast consider combining the two steamwork currencies together.
