yea it looks like you're just trying to add too many lines, a bit like my old shading did. It becomes very overwhelming. I think you also just need to work a bit on steadiness -- the lines will look shaky easily.
Try putting your stabilizer at 13-14, possibly S2-S4 for larger, curvier lines (such as the top of the head, or a long strand that requires a steady flow)
For a style like the penciled in – basically you just do less inlines, and you work with the shape overall rather than the single strands. You take the entire hair into account while shading!
I would forever be in your debt if you came up with a shading tutorial. I can't for the life of me figure out light sources and things like that when it comes to shading pants/shirts/and dresses. I don't even mess with hair but if I could just figure out the clothing aspect I would be a happy camper as I have several ideas ive drawn up but lack the shading know how and I think coloring would also be a huge help and maybe a tutorial on layers since those are important when it comes to cw's as well.
And how the bajonga is a CI done shading wise and stuff? Like just omg xD
I'll try to divide a tutorial into a few short blocks of shading (items, clothes etc)!
I don't think it'll be as precise as it could be, but I won't have the time to really go full in-depth about it. I'll try to cover those things though!
And cis are just the same as items! They need a light source, cell shading and all (:
Yay, I really look forward to seeing your tutorial, I adore your cw's so it would be a real treat to learn from you :)
I just need to have been born in a different age where learning to draw on computer was a norm instead of paper and pen. LOL

I can't draw bangs to save my life. Any tips?
have you ever tried a tablet? ;o It's rather intuitive, but it's even better than paper & pen because you can ctrl+z all your mistakes haha
errr I was asking for opinions on what kind of tutorials people want to see, because those tutorials aren't being done before atleast november, if not december lol
I don't really have tips, except to look at onsite wigs, study real photographs to see how hair falls onto the head. If you take the 3/4 perspective into account, you can see the root of the hair and how it falls, imagining that the head is a 3D object (thus the bangs following the surface)
I own a wacom bamboo tablet thing. I bought it for my birthday a few months back thinking that I could give it a whirl. Yea...its been collecting dust since almost day one. LOL
oh sorry. you were just giving bao some advice so yeah DX
Sorry I keep making you mad.
aw have you checked tutorials? You can start with very simple things! Tablets take a bit to get used to, especially if the pen is big (my hand hurts if I hold my pen for a whole day... but then, maybe I shouldnt be sitting in front of my computer a whole day, but who cares lol)
I wasn't mad, just a bit clueless since it wasn't why I pinged lol I could help bao because it was pointers, I didn't actually need to draw anything -- I often reply on threads while im at work, without my tablet to illustrate what I mean to say

I think I need one of those super duper expensive ones that you can see what you are drawing right on it. Maybe I will try again some day. I just have a dust collector now :)
oh gosh, a cintiq? ahah I wish I could own one, but I don't think I can justify spending 1.5-2k for it just yet lol ;;;;
Have you tried emulating drawing with a pen & paper? If you set your brushes so that it looks like graphite, it might give you a better feel at 'paper' texture!
I think part of my issue when I was drawing was I didn't feel comfortable with the programs. And I didn't want to put out even more money when I wasn't comfortable and didn't want to sign up and put money out towards a program when here this tablet was just about to collect dust. So I never found something I liked when drawing. The lines always seemed wrong and off. It was a try tho on my part. It also doesn't help that for a few years now I tend to have anxiety when I try to draw or even write. So I give up to easy. Besides...its more fun giving you all my money (btw, I will have the money sent to you tomorrow on the wig..I have to deposit my pay checks for the last 2 weeks in my account).
starting earlier tonight! I won't be doing as many streams in the next weeks, because most of the commissions I took are for lumi - therefore people asked that their items arent streamed of course! (I mean, I dont want to ruin any surprises!)
palette tutorials would be cool, how do i choose colours?! ;o
