Offered X3 Thankies again~
I offered! ^_^ is excited xD

Alright. That's okay. :)
I've offered.
Holiday events
YAY!!! Thank you! :D
I'm really sorry, but I have to cancel my slot on the guardian lion :(
Thank you so much for the wolf! ❤

Giving you guys an update since it's been almost a week on the Strange Wolf Mane.
So, first denial was just because of lineart. But the second denial suddenly has a slew of problems. Albeit small problems. I'm going to re-work in those areas (shading, more line art, and a male and female item). I'm probably just going to re-do shading on a whole. But, I'll let you see the finished the product and still give you guys the chance to back out if it's suddenly ugly as hell. Shouldn't be, but if I have to re-do anything I still like to let you guy see. So, should be able to resubmit tonight when I get off of work, and get it approved before Monday. P: Hopefully.
alright keep me posted on it. I swear there getting way to strict on these
Sorry to hear it. :C Hope the reworking goes alright; I'm sure it'll turn out fantastic. I'll likely be holding onto my slot~.
Alright. I'm sure I'll be fine with any changes. Sucks that they couldn't have pointed that out from the start though; I've seen that happen to a couple artists now - something small is pointed out, they fix and resubmit, and suddenly there's a bunch more problems with aspects that haven't changed since the original submission. There should really be more continuity with this stuff. It must get frustrating.
:I Okay, so I'm pinging you guys ‘cause is at work right now and told me the dragon was denied and asked me for suggestions after telling me what was said and I'm mildly miffed. No like I had to walk away from Subeta before raging about who ever it was that denied it. And I apologize in advance to for even having to read this, but I'm still really upset, especially when this isn't the first vague response he's gotten for a denial for his stuff. And yes, I will be making sure he posts the issues (on the proper forum) he's had with some of the CWs he's submitted to try and get this resolved because I don't enjoy seeing him say he can't even draw because he feels so offended by someone accusing him of something he just simply didn't do.
So suggestions on what/how to fix this would be fantastic and I apologize in advance for my tempered rage-y rant. Sadly, this is me a couple hours after cooling down even.
Here is what was said by the mod:
“Your custom clothing Icy Ancient Dragon Horn was denied for the following reason: The perspective on the dragon is confusing and the body would probably be better behind the avatar (which would be a ground item). The dragon is under shaded (but with very high contrast) and borderline pillow shaded as well. Please remember the avatar's light source is in the top left when editing this before resubmitting.”
My breakdown is this, and I'm sorry, but seeing as how Jack's upset about it only makes me more miffed so I won't be the most delicate about this despite knowing I've pinged a mod and she might get upset for me being so frank and honest. But what was written honestly upset me to the point of wanting to find the mod and tell them how horribly ignorant they are and ask them what image they were looking at because it just really doesn't make sense to me.
The perspective on the dragon is confusing and the body would probably be better behind the avatar.
No it's not and no it wouldn't. It's supposed to be in front of the avatar, and I'd sincerely like a specific citation on where it's confusing for you because I can follow it just fine and I wear glasses and occasionally find things odd if I stare at things wrong, but see nothing wrong with the perspective. The only thing I would suggest is lowering the stomach a bit to make more of a curve in the spine so part of the belly near the middle touches the ground as a 'logical support' argument, but again, it looks fine as it is to me. It wouldn't look better behind the avatar because then he would have to reconcile multiple layering issues and frankly, I don't want my familiar behind me, I want him at my feet. And yes, I'm being possessive, I have that right, to be honest, since Jack drew it because I love dragons and they're my familiar. It's turquoise and high contrast because it's a water elemental and I didn't want it pure blue and the sea has a very nice contrast which is what it's going for.
The dragon is under shaded (but with very high contrast) and borderline pillow shaded as well.
Again, citation for under-shaded areas and your 'pillow shaded' assessments, please? It has the required amount of shading; the contrast shouldn't be an issue just because you don't like it, it was meant to be high contrast. Also, look up pillow shading before you sling such a hurtful thing at people, it's rude. It's not pillow shaded when you can clearly see where the lighting is coming from. It's not like there's shading on the left side (as you're looking at it) it's on the right side, except right behind the back of the jaw where it logically would be because the jaw would create a shadow. The ridge detail is darker at the base and lighter at the ends because hair thins and thus would make it lighter also making that logical. There is a shade at the fold of the ear where light wouldn't reach directly as well, the arm is shaded where it meets the 'ground' as again, tissue/muscle would keep it from having light if he was laying in grass, but would most likely be fainter if he was laying on something reflective like glass or snow, but that's not something you’d logically account for. So considering the shading isn’t all about the edges it’s not pillow shading, please know your definitions before you use a term. The shading is in logical places.
Borderline pillow shading actually made me want to call this mod incompetent, ignorant, and insensitive to be honest. How would they like to be told that their art and coloring sucks? Probably not so much and that's basically what they did and that makes me the most angry because I've heard this being deliberately thrust at other CW artists when it's just not so. It might not have been meant as a slur, but with all the other fallacies I’ve read in their critique I can’t help but wonder if the person is just deliberately picking at invisible straws to make people paranoid and feel bad about their art and keep the process trudging inefficiently along until after Monday when they won’t be excepting them for a week.
Please remember the avatar's light source is in the top left when editing this before resubmitting.
And this set me off something fierce. Really? Did you just glance at it or something or were you looking at another picture? If you can't tell that the lighting on the dragon is coming from the upper left hand corner then I suggest seeing an eye doctor. You can tell where the light source is, or at least I can, it’s not hard.
Overall, the vagueness of this particular critique leaves me wondering why they were even allowed to critique in the first place. They teach you how to critique and what to look for in high school level art classes at the latest. Even the most art inept person in my art class knew how to critique and give specific examples. I would rather it be a bit lengthy and logical so something can be addressed than something vague and insulting like this was. And some of it makes me think they were looking at another CW or something because the things they point out I’ve stared at this dragon and asked if it was the same one that he submitted and I don’t see any of this. My personal suggestions would be maybe adding a little more shading at the back of the right hind leg since it would probably have a bit more shadowing, and on the front right arm near the bottom to show the tail giving it a bit of a triangular shadow, but that’s really all I see. I like the contrast, where it’s positioned, how it’s positioned, and the shading is NOT pillow shading.
Firstly, not sure if I would be as interested if it was behind the body :S This aside, I can't believe it was denied :( It doesn't look under shaded or pillow shaded to me at all. It's not even close to pillow shaded for god's sake O.o I can understand under shaded maybe but not pillow shaded... it's totally logical as it is.
I love it how it is now, but maybe they mean to just have the center part of the dragon body curving around the human body? As if were circling the avatar? I'm not sure. Also, I don't see pillow shading in the slightest, so I don't know what that's about.
I understand that everyone is sort of frustrated with the way approval/denial works right now, but that's why it's being taken down for a bit. It's frustrating for us too. A lot of questions and issues have come up that we hadn't considered when we first implemented the Custom Wearables feature.
If you have any questions regarding the critique notes, you can file a ticket.
And I'll hang onto my slots. c:
