Yay for you! I left neo several years ago. I started playing neo in 2001 or 2 - can't remember exactly which year, but left in 2006... When it changed ownership, it all went downhill from there. The rules and restrictions were so bad, it was difficult to chat in the forums without being slapped with a warning because you said "crap" or "dammit" ... or posted a picture that wasn't neopets related... or whatever else they could think of. They reduced the site down to child age, and I know MOST older teens and young and old adults have left because neopets turned into something awful. I had MANY accounts, and each pet profile I had linked to each other... one was dedicated to random events, another - funny comments and whatnot - pictures - which were allowed at the time... and a "ghost" page section because I'm obsessed with the paranormal.... and I was an owner of a guild called Shifty. I don't know if any of you remember that far back - the group that started in the Plot forums... I had a lot of fun during the Lost Desert plot, which, in my opinion, was the crowning moment of Neopets. After that, the crown fell off and they lost their way. So I came here.... a 5 year old account, but got iced in '09 - then I ventured over to Gaia, which I spent A LOT of money on those damn Gaia gold cards and bought the really nice stuff, then my account got hacked and I said screw it. I was starting to dislike Gaia anyway... Then I was able to create another account here in '10, and been here ever since. SO... neopets is a joke, not worthy of people over the age of 10 - sorry if I offended anyone, but this is just my opinion.

Perhaps some adults and older teens still play neopets, and that's fine. But for me, it was time to dump my pets in the pound, gave away all my items and shut down my accounts. GOOD RIDDANCE I SAY!

I logged in a few days ago and found out that my accounts had been hacked. Having UC pets is dangerous, haha. I'm a little sad because it was around 11 years playing that and it was kinda of my history and I kinda would like to keep it. BUt besides that I couldn't care less.

I'm probably quitting. Went to do my dailies today only to find some asshat somehow got into my account and changed the email and password. I know they at least stole my fish negg (it was in my gallery, and a gift a LONG time ago from a friend), so I assume the rest of my account is wiped too. 13 years and a shit ton of work, gone likely because I can't even file a fucking ticket, since you can't get help unless you have an account. Hopefully the old [email protected] email still is checked, and I put a ticket in on their petpetpark (but can't check the status without, wonders of wonders, logging in!). Asinine. But eh, gives me an excuse to quit I guess, unless their staff can get my crap back. (And no, I didn't visit any suspicious sites. Hell, I've hardly visted anywhere other than there/here/powerpets/facebook/twitter/gmail/amazon/work related lately due to time constraints with juggling day job and an internship.)

I'll probably be received by a hatefest if I say this, but...after I left Neopets and essentially deleted my account, I thought I'd never go back. But then recently a friend I met on another pet site invited me to it, and I thought, what could go wrong? Thus I am back, and my account now is 2 months old. I'm not sure if I made the right decision though...

I used to play Neopets before it was bought out by Viacom. I prefer the art and freedom of speech on Subeta. I feel like it's not worth playing Neopets unless you're willing to spend real money. I also dislike the dress-up pets feature and the general look of the pets on that site.

                                   I left a couple of years ago, and never looked back. Neopets  doesn't have the class that Subeta has, for one a clean site.

My old Neopets account is 12 years old, has unpainted pets and no rare items. I was a dumb kid, haha. I log on annually just to see how long I can keep it alive but I never play anymore. I haven't since joining Subeta.

Oh man, I used to skulk around Neopets for days on end when I was 11 or so, but the site just seemed to change as I got older. The mods are relentless when it comes to banning (My first account got frozen for no reason and they would not respond to my emails), the ads were annoying and I didn't like all the unneeded changes they made to the pets. The real dealbreaker for me was that it was WAY too hard to earn money for the really good stuff (I could only manage like, 20k a day before getting bored and some items I wanted were like 20+ million) and yeah. It just got needlessly complicated.

I literally only go on Neo to pound surf. And to log into my accounts because the names are actually rly good but mostly pound surfing lmao

I used to play Neopets... once. XD It was a long long time ago. So long I actually forgot what year it was when I first joined and what year when I deleted my account. I really liked it back then before they introduced the ''dress your pet'' feature. I had a few painted pets, some valuable items (at least they were valuable to me :P) and I really liked my shiny trophies. I enjoyed playing Neoquest and I really liked the plots. But, like everyone else already mentioned, everything got worse since those pet clothes. And I really disliked the fact that you had to work like crazy to get Nps (it's normal to work hard, but to work insanely hard for Nps is just gibberish) and all those precious items were mostly inaccessible to me due to the Neopets economy. What I really hated was that you had to pay for most good stuff. With real money. -_- So around six years ago, I found out about Subeta and joined. I had mixed opinions about the site but everything started improving and I started to really like this site. So, for some time I played both Neopets and Subeta, but then I figured I can't handle both and spend whole day playing games on both sites to earn Nps/sPs and decided to leave Neopets.

So here I am. Over six years on Subeta and all I regret is that I haven't been on more. XD The artwork is superb, people are nice (unlike from what I remember on Neopets, though it must be much worse now), there are some items that you can only obtain with CSC, but you can buy CSC gift cards or watch videos and get CSC. ^_^ It's not perfect, I know. There are some things that need an update/revamp and so on, and some things need to get fixed and there may be glitches every now and then, but Keith and Co. are doing their best. :D

Now the healing process can begin.

hm, i left after tnt decided the best solution to my main account being stolen was to just freeze it and my pretty maraquan eyrie and all my cute meowclops things with it 8( i only stayed on as long as i did for nostalgia and chat group friends anyway, but it's boring as all shit now.

I don't play neopets any more either. But I only go back to it to do the advent calender in december.

I loved Neopets. I had played it since I was like.. eight... It's been on and off for me since forever. Towards my older years, I used it less for the pets and more for roleplaying. But, the commercial aspect of things definitely got to me too... that, and I lost the password for my oldest main account. :c It was a sad day...

I gotta thank Neopets, though. If it weren't for that site and the people on it, I probably wouldn't have gotten in to writing.

I've been sort of on and off with the site lately, checking back every few days to do my dailies and check the stock market. I don't think I'll ever truly leave the site though since I practically grew up with it. They have changed a lot over the years, but I've been pretty okay with it. Hate the excessive use of ads though, even if I do have an ad-blocker.

Also, am I the only one who likes the pet customization feature? ):

Congrats on finally getting the courage to delete your account after such a long time playing! I also started playing neo around 10/11 years ago and deleted my account last august after receiving a permanent silence, but the last month or so I started missing playing the stock market and food club, which is mainly what I did as well as nc trading so yeah I went back on my oldest account (better for food club bets xD) but I have no shop/gallery or anything like that, it looks kinda lame lol...I feel like a failure for going back but im NOT spending a single penny there, its not worth it ^_^

Last time I played Neopets was late 2007. I don't think it was anywhere near as bad then as it is now based on what I'm reading here. I thought it was too dull and a bit childish at that point, and I wasn't having fun doing anything. Then a friend introduced me to Subeta. Best suggestion I've received thus far!

Congratulations on leaving Neopets!

It's been years since I've last played Neopets, and I must say I'm still pretty bitter when I think back of my experiences there. I'm not sure when I left exactly, but the last thing I remember is that key game that got introduced. It was laggy as hell.

The reason why I left is because it got very commercial and because the boards had become a dictatorship. I love chatting on forums. Back on Neopets I saw a board where people were being very childish about some star of whom some naughty pictures had leaked. So I commented that I had no idea why there was so much fuss over a bunch of pictures with a naked lady on them. The second I pressed the "post" button I received a message that my post got blocked and I also received an email. I checked my inbox and it contained my first official warning for using inappropriate language on the boards. It took me a while to realise what I had done wrong and then it dawned on me that I had typed the word "naked". The email arrived the second I clicked "post" so this was an automated email, they did not even look at my post or checked the context in which the word "naked" was used. Nope, just bam, official warning! I've heard many similar stories from other friends here on Subeta. Apparantly they've got some sort of banned words list on the boards.

I also heard many stories of Neopets accounts getting hacked. I just checked mine for the first time in years and it appears to be fine. I just tried to find out how to ice my account but I can't find that option anywhere. And I must say, wooow, I just opened the site and there's commercials flashing everywhere!

I got introduced to Subeta by a Neopets friend. At first I played Neopets more than Subeta because I was so used to it. Then I started finding out that you could earn sP quick and you could get items that were really worth while without having to play games for entire days. If you wanted anything on Neopets it was so hard, you had to work for so long to just get one item worth while. It really took the fun out of the whole thing. In the end I played nothing but Subeta anymore and left Neopets behind completely. BEST INTERNET CHOICE EVER! :D

I still need to delete my account. I'm never on there anymore since I joined Subeta. I just don't wanna abandon my little pets. It makes me so sad :(
