Like I said, it's not that we're not flattered that you want to see a specific pet in a certain color. We appreciate that. But what is irritating is that you can't pay attention to the work one of our peers just finished. Those news posts are to comment on those specific pets, not the others that aren't available. We love knowing you're excited, just don't disrespect the hard work that was just released. Instead, express your anticipation on the forums or to the artist responsible for the pet you're waiting on.

Wow, if I were an artist and I put all that hard work into making those AMAZING Glade pets (or any pet for that matter), I definitely would be extremely mad that someone totally ignores the work you have done, and blatantly demands something like that.

Also to add, that I think asking/demanding for an artist to make a pet color, and you just ignoring their work, really doesn't make them want to do it for you. You know what I mean? :c We all like to be appreciated for our work.

Ok, let's all just close our eyes and remember what other petsites look like.

No matter how ugly you think a pet colour is, how badly a species needs a revamp, or how desperately you want to spam the news comments so that your favorite pet can be painted glade, just remember that our artists work hard to keep our site looking beauterrific and nonshitty. I think it's really gross that somepeople feel so entitled when it comes to criticism or suggestions. Artists are not at your beck and call, and instead of nitpicking every tiny little thing that you find to be wrong, appreciate it for what it is. Or else, if you think you can do it better/faster/whatever then apply for an artist position yourself. I agree Jessyta, too many of these kinds of threads are popping up. Someone on another board actually called an artist's work "epic fail" and "hideous". Yea, I'll bet the person responsible for the work in question felt really warm and fuzzy after seeing that. Hopefully a few bad apples won't spoil the whole bunch because I think that in general we really love and appreciate all of our artist's hard work :)

I agree with this. I want some pets drawn glade, sure, but I'm patient enough to be happy about the other beautiful pets that get made in the process! The artists work hard, not only on pets but other stuff around the site. They're fantastic and really should be appreciated more.

Why is this such a big issue now? Users have been doing it for a long time, and I don't see it as an insult to the artists.

How is asking when another pet is going to be released rude? It's curiosity, and the artists should be thrilled people want more! If you can't make pets fast enough for the users, isn't that a great compliment?

Do the artists really need a pat on the back for everything they do? They're very talented, but they do get paid for their work, right? Meaning it's a job. I don't get a well done! every day at work when I do something that's meant to be done. I don't see why it should be any different here.

I still don't think it's acceptable even if you ask nicely, if it's in the news comments. I know it always makes me twinge with annoyance when I see that, even if they did comment on the others. Ask in comments, or mail, or post on the boards, but the news comments are about those pets being released in that color. Asking about that pet in a different color, or another pet in that color, in my opinion, is just impolite.

Edit:

To lamby:

Personally I think that anyone that does a job well should be thanked. I always thank my waitress when they bring me food and drink, even if it is their job. It's simply good manners.

The sketch for the Nightmare Illumis was actually already done by 'afore she went on vacation from staff, and was then cleaned up and finished into the final product we see released on site by . It was a very pretty combo, I'll say.

Frustrated artists are unmotivated artists, and unmotivated artists do not produce Subeta-quality artwork.
This. This right here. This is why users need to shut their trap and not ask "when is ____ gonna' be drawn?" That is so annoying to the artists, I can certainly see why they get frustrated over it. Especially considering the species that are normally asked for are species that that particular artist isn't even in charge of.

Give the artists time. All pets will exist in all colors eventually. And maybe by the time they do exist everyone will have learned to have the decency to thank the artist for what they have drawn, and not ungratefully demand more of them.

I'm guilty of the 'I wonder how the Aeanoid would look Glade since it's already a plant' thing myself.

So far all the artists have done excellent work on the Glade pets and I'm sure the rest will be great as well.

There has been more comments of that nature as of late due to the new pet color.

And all your other questions have already been answered. 's posts sum things up best.

Artists produce large amounts of artwork for the site that rarely gets the feedback that a new pet color gets. Considering the time that goes into pets like the Glade, which are total redraws and not just changing colors, it doesn't seem like at least being respectful if not thankful for the effort isn't too much to expect from people...

This. Because the phrase stay on topic should be relevent in news comments too.

& Rah - Rah's Ruffies are the bestest pet EVER!

- A little appreciation goes a long way. Wishing for your favourite pet to be drawn in a new colour is just fine... just so long as you don't post it on the news comment board for another species.

I guess if users are SO interested in knowing when their favourite species will be released in a new colour, the time and place would be a comment or smail to Luxe or the artist for that species, NOT a comment on the news board.

I love seeing new pets released and there are a few I'm really eager to see, but I try to avoid saying things like that in the news posts, I like to focus on the pet just released =3.

So yea, I agree with you, I wish people would stop demanding pets to be in certain colours ;-;

I don't think I lean towards either side; I'm an artist myself, and I know that getting your art ignored for someone else's, especially when you've put a lot of effort into the drawing, is horrible. But on the other hand, the Glade pets are so beautifully drawn, that I think it would be very weird if no one was asking/wondering/demanding other pets in that colour. And honestly, I don't think any of those who have done so thought that expressing their exitement for a specific pet in a specific colour would dishearten the artists, hence why they have.

I do think that, if it's such a problem, something should be said at the news section, not here in the forums. People would learn that it's not appreciated, and hopefully the number of people demanding would deminish. shrug

I think that maybe its because some users don't know who draws which pets and that some have been put on the back burner as the artist is unavailable. I think a post or a message on their user lookups would go a long way so that users would know the appropriate person to ask about a redraw/new pet color.

Sadly unless it was said each and every time a new pet was posted, I don't think it would work out that well. Despite the fact staff have asked many times in the news for people to be constructive with their comments on pet revamps, there is always that handful of people that still think it is acceptable to go on about how OMGFUGLY the art is...

Going to say i agree with the part of people need to back off when totally disregarding the new pet in anticipation of another. Yeah i get it, you like that species and can't wait to see it, guess what...neither can the rest of us. So be patient and wait. ;D

Anywho about lambys comment.

So, lets say i work at some retail store....i get paid to work there and whatnot. Then some customer comes up and slaps me in the face and tells me that the prices in the store are awful or some other absurd thing that customers like to come up with to complain about.

Is that okay just because i get paid and its my job? :P

It's likely never to stop - to be honest, I've kind of put a list together of people to completely ignore in the news comments. I generally let it go when it's a newbie or someone who looks a bit younger doing it, but mostly it's the same people pissing me off over and over again! And, well, those are the people I go out of my way to avoid trying to please in the end. I don't work well with the stick treatment. Give me a carrot any day!

And for the record, I work in a supermarket as well as on subeta, and I suppose I get the same treatment as on here. I get a bunch of lovely customers who thank me and are polite and friendly, and I get a bunch of assholes who wind me up. I EXPECT to be treated like the former, but I guess the world is full of assholes, and you can't avoid them all.

[Edit] - and a brilliant point made by stijn above.

Well, I don't think there's any other way of going about it, other than trying to ignore them. It wouldn't necessarily be needed to be said every time, since there could be a little area above/below the comment box that says begging/demanding/asking for a certain thing isn't allowed.
