Nellie blinked and waved meekly back to Sergei, then picked up her bags and followed Sergei. "Hey." She said quietly, not daring to make eye contact. She knew that he had been Bo's roommate, so he might know how she was feeling. They had been close, right? "Can I sit next to you? I don't really feel like sitting next to anyone else right now...." She trailed off and looked away, this wasn't like her at all. She was usually the happy person. Now she was sad.
Spyder just picked up her bags and followed Nellie, feeling a little sorry for both of them.
Harper was the first hybrid on the plane, after Dr. Shyr. The doctor took her seat in the first row and pulled a book from her pack. Evidently she expected the hybrids to seat themselves calmly. That or she had a surprise waiting for the first one who didn't.
Harper walked several rows behind Dr. Shyr before taking the window seat in the seventh row. Vaughn was right behind her, but took a seat across the aisle. She grabbed both her bags and Harpers and lifted them up into the overhead compartment before sitting down. Then she spotted Sorren, who was right behind her.
"Hey, Sorren! Come sit by me." She waved him over and gestured for him to take the seat next to her. Harper was a bit confused, but it seemed like Vaughn and Sorren were pretty good friends, so she didn't worry on it for too long. Instead, she pulled out a book of her own, this one an overview of animal species - to try and get a better handle on the types of people she would be dealing with on the trip. Their animal parts had a bigger influence on them than most people realized, so she wanted to brush up on her animal facts.
"Wait, wait!" Sorren gasped, tiptoeing. "This bag won't go in! I wish I'll just grow already!" Finally, it slid in, and he turned to face Vaughn.
"Thanks, Vaughn!" he grinned at her as he sat in the seat next to her and peeked into her book.
Sergei looked towards Nellie. He could see that she needed a little comforting right now. As he boarded the jet, his eyes fell towards Harper, then back to Nellie. "Um...," he started to say uncertainly, but then saw Laurel asking for the seat next to Harper. A small pinch of jealousy pierced Sergei liked a needle. He almost forget he was talking to Nellie.
When he realized he was trailing off, he looked back towards the hawk hybrid. "Yeah, sure. No problem," he smiled at her. He stopped at the third row of seats, several rows in front of Harper and Laurel, and he started to stuff his bag and backpack into the overhead compartment. "Here, let me put your bags up," he said taking her bags and sliding them into the compartment. After he had placed their belongings up, he moved aside to let Nellie take the window seat. He knew she was a bird hybrid so she would enjoy looking out the window. "So you're in Gio's group, right? ," he asked. Really, Sergei wanted to ask her if she was okay about the whole Bo not going thing, but didn't want to bluntly ask her.
"If you don't want to sit next to me, that's fine, Sergei." Nellie said quietly as he trailed off, then glanced over at Harper and Laurel. The girl could tell that he liked Harper, even just a tiny bit, and didn't want her to think that he liked her. She could understand that; and boys could have girls as friends.
"Thanks." She thanked him when he put her bags up in the overhead compartment. The hawk hybrid then slipped into the window seat of the jet and gazed out longingly until Sergei asked if she was in Gio's group. Blinking, she turned to face him.
"Yeah. What group are you in? I didn't catch it. Sorry to sound rude or anything." She bit her lip slightly, then mentally shook her head. She had to get over the whole Bo thing.
Harper looked up from her book at Laurel's voice. "Oh, of course!" She smiled back at her new friend, gesturing for him to sit down.
"So, are you excited?" She asked, folding her book so she could still open it easily to the right page, but also so that Laurel wouldn't feel he was interrupting her reading or anything.
Vaughn was about to get up and help Sorren, despite the fact that she was pretty short herself, but he got it before she had a chance. She slumped back down into her seat, laughing.
"You'll grow, don't worry." She chuckled. Vaughn looked over to see that the hybrid that had been in that big tank had gone to sit by Harper. She nudged Sorren. "I guess someone's popular."
Vaughn really was glad to see Harper making friends. She hadn't done much but read since her first day, so it was nice that she had met some people she knew. And she had gathered that Laurel was pretty new, too, so it was nice that he had met new people as well.
Harper nodded. "It's going to be...interesting." She really was excited. It was still not anything she knew how to adequately prepare for, so she was nervous. She liked having plans and knowing what would happen. "Yeah. I just want to get a better idea of what to expect from everyone I'll have to deal with. I'm not actually in a group. I'm going to be gathering information, mostly from the spies, and then distributing it to the people it most pertains to."
She indicated the book. "This is so that I will prepared if, say, a lion hybrid were to walk into my office. I would know that he or she was strong and fast, but actually probably difficult to anger and reasonably level-headed. That's not always the case, but it's a good indicator."
"No, why wouldn't I want to sit next to a beautiful girl? ," he replied reassuringly when she stared over in Harper's direction. Nellie probably could see that he had was attracted to Harper, however Sergei really didn't want to admit it. Instead he just smiled and slipped into the seat next to Nellie. When Nellie replied and asked him the same quesion, Sergei scratched his head a bit, not sure how to answer.
"I got picked to be commander," he said and then suddenly remembered the pin Harper had given him, which was pinned on the sleeve of his shirt. "So I guess I`m in my own group," he said slightly smiling. "As far as who is in my group, not quite sure. I didn't really stay after at the meeting last week long enough to scout out my team members. I did know one person, but due to medical reasons, he couldn't come. Vaughn will be bunking with with my group though, but she's a spy so she doesn't really have a group she belongs to." Sergei stopped and then remembered receiving a folder with the profiles on everyone who would be in his group. However, he hadn't gotten the chance to look at it yet and it was somewhere in his bag.
Sergei stared at Nellie for moment before looking pass her out the window. Then he turned to looked around to see where everyone else sat while waiting for the plane to take off. "Wow....I just realized...this will be my first time in the air," he said nervously towards Nellie. He hadn't really thought about it before, but was now a little nervous. He wasn't afraid of heights or flying, it was just his first experience being in a plane and being way up in the sky.
((Oh, by the way if anyone wants to make a second character, go ahead. A lot of our group members dropped out, so the groups are kind of lacking right now...))
((ooc: Is it okay if I make two characters? There's another character I want to introduce later, but he'll be working for the Soviet Union, if that's okay?))

((Awesome, guys! And you can either pretend they were already there, just in the background, introduce them in the Soviet Union, whatever. I just think we need to fill up the teams a bit more...It would makes sense if some people couldn't go to replace them with others...so whatever you like. And Mythology, you can put Laurel into whichever group you like, so long as you have the ok from the leader (me or Krimzun).))
Harper nodded in confirmation. "Garter snake's right. Good job!" She considered his dilemma for a moment. "Well do you think you'll be a warrior? Because not all of us are, clearly. Vaughn and I aren't, and I think there's a few others who aren't...though a lot of people didn't end up going and I don't know who all is left..."
A young male Tasmanian Devil hybrid boarded the jet, pausing for a second at the beginning of the aisle to examine for a suitable empty seat. He only carried two backpacks and a set of drumsticks in his hand. AJ didn't really find it necessary to carry a lot of clothes. If he needed more, he could always buy more clothes when they arrive. He saw an empty pair of seat across the aisle from where Sergei and Nellie sat and made his way towards it. As he walked down the aisle, he tapped his drumsticks on the chairs he passed until he reached the empty seat. He threw his backpacks into the compartment above and then slid into the seat next to the window.
He glared out the window for a minute before looking back down towards the front. He leaned his cheek onto the fist of his hand and waited. He held one drumstick with this hand and held one in the other. His other hand spun a drumstick in a circular motion with his fingers.
Nellie blinked when he said something about a beautiful girl. That's what Bo would tell me. She thought quickly, worried, before trying her hardest to dismiss the thoughts. When she finally did, she plastered a large smile on her face, the best she could manage, and glanced over at Sergei.
"Hm. Cool." She glanced past him to see Elizabeth slip into the seat across from them, then open a magazine and cross her legs casually. She's always alone. She thought, a little sad, when she watched her.
"Really? I've been in the air a lot." She said quietly, absentmindedly. "Well, of course I have. It's not too hard, sometimes the take-offs are hard, though. It's easy."
Sergei followed Nellie's gaze over towards Spyder. He lifted an arm and waved towards her. He didn't really know Spyder well. He only remembered talking to her that one time in the courtyard last week. He had seen her around during the week but a conversation never sparked up between the two. Sergei turned his attention back towards Nellie. He knew Nellie had experience with being up high in the air, but Sergei wasn't a winged hybrid. He had never been in the air before. Even though he was inside of the plane, it was still a nervous thought. He smiled unsurely.
"Well, it's comforting to know that if this plane fails or something that I`m sitting next to a hawk hybrid," he lightly joked, mainly to make himself relax a bit.
AJ stopped spinning the drumstick and held both of them in his right hand. He reclined his seat a little and closed his eyes. Even on a jet plane, the ride would still be long enough for him to take a nap. He would normally be asleep right now anyway since he was nocturnal. He slept during the day and took evening and night classes. However, going on this mission would mean he would have to change his whole sleeping habit, which he thought as rather inconvenient.
"Oh yeah! That's such a cool...ability, I guess is what you'd call it. Really cool." She paused. "I'd probably be really creeped out if it happened to me, but it's still nifty."
Gio had lingered in the lobby as long as he could, hoping maybe Gabriel would change his mind or something. He didn't want to leave his friend behind, but...well his medical problems had grown much worse and he wasn't able to go on the trip. Gio worried how Gabriel would get along without him. Oh, well, he thought. I guess he's got to learn to survive on his own sometime...
With one final glance towards the door, Gabriel boarded the plane, earning a dirty look from an impatient Dr. Shyr on the way in. He shrugged this off and looked for an empty seat. He could see only a few, so he made his way back and sat next to someone he didn't know. He supposed it was as good a time as any to greet one of the people he'd be spending the next who-knew-how-long with.
He shoved his stuff into the overhead bin, sat down, and said, "hey, what's your name?"
((I'm not entirely clear on who is currently sitting with whom, so whoever is free can pretty much respond to that....))
Dr. Shyr stood up. "Alright, we're leaving. Put on your seatbelts and try not to scream." She sat back down and the plane began to move. It was small, just a little passenger jet that fit on the roof of Project Diana. When Harper looked out the window, she noticed that the big cage thing over the building was sort of...open. Like it was on hinges or something. They took off quickly and were soon in the sky.
((If anyone else wants to introduce a character from Project Diana (not the Soviet Union), just say they were on the plane already or something...))
Miah sighed quietly. Finally, the drumming had stopped, and the silence was back, until someone appeared, asking for her name. She turned around and studied him. It was Gio, "Miah. Remember, the person who brought the asthma medicine to your friend?"
-OOC- Wouldn't it be awesome if the people from this Project Diana meets people from the other DNA roleplay? o.o
Vaughn nodded. "I'm sure he'll be fine. Besides, I can see that Nellie's a little blue lately. Since Bo left and all..." It was so sad that Bo had left, and without any warning. She wondered what he was up to and why he had chosen not to go on the mission. Especially when he and Nellie seemed to have been getting along so well. That thought only reminded her of Lilly and the fact that she had opted not to go, as well. They'd been roommates for as long as Vaughn could remember and it would be pretty tough to go that long without even talking to her best friend. Vaughn wondered how things might be different when they returned...if they returned.
Gio studied the face of the person sitting next to him. He had seen her before. "Oh, yeah! How have you been?"
Gio glanced past Miah, out the window and into the pure blue sky all around them. He wasn't particularly comfortable in the sky, considering he was a sea-animal. He wondered if there was enough water on the jet to keep him comfortable, considering he kind of needed a lot of it to stay alive. He would have to ask Dr. Shyr about it later. He gripped the armrests rather tightly and closed his eyes, preferring not to look at the sky beyond the window. "How long d'you think we'll be up here?"
((Haha, that'd be funny. It'd be interesting to see the contrast in their feelings towards the...organizations. Still, we're going to the Soviet Union, so...))
"Wait... Bo left?" Sorren sat up in alarm. How did he not realize? "Well, I guess I'm not so absorbent sometimes," he answered himself, a little sad. Bo had been one of his closer friends, however grouchy he may be.
"Um, fine. You?" Miah studied him, "Too bad Gabriel left." She paused and noted how he fidgeted in his seat. Was he scared of heights?
"Probably a long time. We're going to Russia, so..." Miah turned around and stared out the window. She's never been past the treeline, let alone this high.
((By the way, sorry I've been a little inactive, I'm coming up on finals and I need to study. I'll try to get maybe a landing and settling in post done tomorrow or something like that so you guys can keep going, but I won't be posting as much for around two weeks))
