Whelp, everyone is now on summer vacation so people start flocking towards the art boards because they have the time. I totally agree with Jessyta and the issue with giving out addresses. It is kind of hairy. I also feel that having many shops going on that involve actual cash more than sp opens up the door even wider for abuse and scams.

I totally agree. I feel like the jewelry and what-not is totally out of place. Things like that have their places on other, more appropriate sites where they would have an audience who are actually more interested in buying their products. The key-chains are fine in my opinion though because people can request art of their characters which can be subeta related.

I'd buy fingerpaint pictures, get to work on those please.

In all seriousness though I like the star bracelets, I myself have always failed terribly at making things like that. Though beads I can buy at my local dollar store and string on some thread I think I'll pass. I'll be really surprised if someone buys those, to me buying something like that is like buying one of those friendship bracelets I used to make when I was in the fourth grade.

But really, if you see someone selling for real $$$ only, report that shit because they are breaking the rules and being hella lame.

ANYWAY. I don't frequent the art forums, but from the threads I've seen they've all been quality stuff. Although for people selling actual art I lol @ the people who want like... 2.5m for a sketch that looks like my 4 year old nephew drew :P

oh my god this is one of the reasons I am avoiding the art market because it's all juvenile bracelets and dolls??? :( like I actually remember sitting there looking at the first thread thinking, "b-but I could make this for myself right now..." I mean, it's great that they are managing to get customers (look at the post count!) but come on now really, I would rather spend my $$$ elsewhere.

She is a real artist, she works very hard on the dolls, and you need to learn how to appreciate it. Because I'd like to see you try and make somehting like that. I don't know any 10 year olds hwo can model dolls like she can.

Vapid, I believe he does have a right. I can see why you'd be insulted, but you can't expect everyone to 'appreciate' your work. It's his opinion. (Even though he just said it wasn't about you, so...)

He doesn't need to 'learn' to appreciate anything. Your friend needs to learn when and when not to hold her tongue, and you should learn not to back her up when she isn't even in her place to begin with.

Wow, some people really get offended. :X I've have people tell me that my plushies are fugly and that I shouldn't ever touch a sewing machine again, and others say that they were cute. When people say that they're fugly, I let it roll off my back. Not everyone is going to like something, Vapid. It's not like VULGAR targeted you (he even said that he'd never seen any of your work, so why get so worked up over it?).

I think people should focus more on art instead of these dolls and bracelets. I honestly agree that most of the stuff people are trying to sell are art that I made in elementary school.

I think that as much as it would cut into peoples "income" unless is is subeta related it shouldn't be allowed.

I fail to see the reasoning behind that. It's simple, really, if you're worried about people criticizing your art, don't post it. Likewise, if you're going to assume (and look like an asshole yourself, like Vapid did), at least do it in an un-explosive way, or just don't post at all. Problem solved. Voila.
