I totally agree! I'm sick of people racing to get the first board. Like it really matters??

And I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates those damn invisible avatars with just some article of clothing on that you can't tell WHERE in the world it actually goes. Ugh.

I agree with you, partly. However, I think one of the reasons people create these threads without having the overlays ready is not because they want to be the first one to make it but because the thread is there ready for them. What I mean is that they don't have to go to all that effort to get the overlays only to realise that someone has beat them to it. It's a lot of effort that will otherwise go to waste.

Preview boards used to come with a lot of prestige. You know, back when it was actually an effort [and fun!] to find the overlays.</p>
<p>I&;ve never understood the need for preview boards since the new wardrobe system. The only items that need a preview thread now are the new reading drive wearables and MCTs.</p>
<p>When you&;ve got all the items and names laid out for you in the token shop / crystal shop/ free gift corner / item directory building then just trot on over to the wardrobe.
I remember those days. :( That was the reason why I made that guide to finding overlays. More people could enjoy the hunt for a new overlay (EXCEPT FOR THE ONES MADE BY CRAFTY ARTISTS). Now, there is no prestige, or there shouldn't be, especially when the thread creator depends on others to provide the images.

I like having the preview threads still because I can easily add things to my wishlist and I can see all of them in one go. It's a lot faster for me to check a thread than to open my wardrobe again and wait for the images to load for items I don't care about. Besides, if it's an item that is like _____ ribbon, it's not the easiest to just search.

agh, i completely agree. im glad im not the only one. i was starting to think it actually made sense to everyone but me D:

ive only made one preview thread. and not only did i post all of the overlays + actual items, but i also checked if anyone already made a board. just to make sure there werent multiples.

when i click on a preview thread, its because i want to see previews, not to keep clicking back at it hoping it was update. its very frustrating when it hasnt been updated for like, 20 minutes. and it just plain lame when other people eventually post the previews in comments and the main post still says "editing" :/

oh, and when people leave out the item icon things. it always makes me wish someone else posted the preview board :/

Boohoo? Thats part of what they get for taking on the "duty" (lol) of making one of those boards. It isnt that hard to get them either, so i don't see the big deal on "wasted effort".

It is annoying to come to a board that actually doesn't have the previews up as promised, however, I do understand how frustrating it is to do all the work for a post like that, only to have been 'beaten' by someone else. Also, even though one can see the items now in the wardrobe, I appreciate being able to see the previews quickly without much effort and time spent.

I guess there's 2 sides to the issue.

You're right. But that might be the reason why some people decide to make a thread first and post the overlays in it minutes later and that's what I was pointing out.

There wouldn't be such a rush if people realized that these boards are kind of pointless now. Besides, who's to say someone isn't already tirelessly compiling some previews and someone else gets their board out first because they're WILL-EDITing? So really it is probably already happening.

Besides, the previews look way better on an HA instead of just as a little 10x10 image without any body around it to give some reference.
^This. I don't know how many times I've seen new items without the positioning on an HA. For example, the new goggles that came out. I thought they went over the face instead of the head for a little bit because there was no reference. The position made them look like they were headed straight out instead of angled.

When stores advertise a new line of clothing, they'll put it on a mannequin or a person on some poster. Not using an HA is just like lining the clothes up on the floor with no example of how they fit anybody.

What I would LOVE to see is boards where the OP saves their own avatar with the previews on it for each of the new items. I can totally see notoriety and whatnot for being so awesome to provide a full HA preview all in one board.

I really often wonder how stressful that might be. I mean.. some of the people that make that boards are fast like hell (like they only need one split second to see the new wearables and create the thread).

The boards are nice to see the items all at once but I seriously don't get why people are so keen on making them. It needs a bit more to be the hero of the day in my opinion Ôo .

That will make actually getting one out and done quickly and properly worth all the much more glory. How fair is it for someone to take 45 minutes to get 1/2 the previews out if someone else can do the whole in 10 minutes but because user A made a will edit board. Theirs stays. Nuts to that.

To say more for that 'Preview is better in the Wardrobe' argument:

I like it that I can see it how it looks on the skintone I'm using. It happened often in the past that I bought one Item because the preview in the Forum looked nice... and when I tried to wear it, I failed. ^_^;

And I also like to look how I could match it ... so, yay for Wardrobe preview function! ❤️

I didn't want to have to make the whole board only to have it locked because one had already been made. I thought I edited with the images in a timely manner, I am sorry I was too slow.

I am really sorry, I didn't mean to make people angry or anything. I have seen it done before, and no one seemed to be angry before.

I think preview threads are nice, personally, because the wardrobe can take awhile to load, and its nice (for me) to see all the previews together at once instead of having to see them separately. I also like these boards because it allows users to give their opinion on the item, whether they like it or not, and to praise the artist.

I really did not mean to make anyone angry. I am sorry; I will not do it again.

It wasnt you in specific at all. Yours was done in a timely manner, and its something that has been going on for sometime....I think it just came to a head today...not because of you.

OMG I hate those boards. They are GLORY WHORES pure and simple. They think OMGIamgonnabesopopular!!!!

With the new wardrobe, I see no need for a preview thread at all unless it is something like DPs or reading drive, or MCTs like Nikki said.

Definitely I agree though they should be considered spam.

I'd like to put it out there that I personally don't really even see the point in preview boards. Wasn't the whole point of the option in our wardrobe to look at all clothes on subeta to preview clothes and such? I understand if the wardrobe doesn't function well on people's computers but I think a lot of us (including myself sometimes) are just lazy?

I'd also like to complain on how when items glitch in the wardrobe, some of these preview posters do not know how to find item images using url. Consequently, people are left with a "Oh woops. I can't find it" comment and other users have to step up to the plate because the OP didn't bother to check the previews first. mumbles That bothers me so so much.

Certainly not about you specifically! :o I've been annoyed about it for a while and just mentioned it on your board. It could've been anyone's (actually, it might have been if you had posted all of the previews at once) :P.
