Okay, I know that other people are slightly annoyed with these boards, just like me. :D

So the news lights up, and it's announced that there are new wearables. You go to the avatar forums and there you'll find at least one board (sometimes two or three) saying NEW ITEM PREVIEWS!

Wow! Someone got all of the new items previewed conveniently on one page all ready? Awesome! So you go to check, and lo and behold, all that's there is a message saying 'will edit'.

I'm sorry, but will it kill you to make a complete board before posting it? It's not like being the first to make a board gives you extra points or is even that memorable. And this kind of behaviour encourages more people to try to be first, and causes multiple will-edit preview boards, which in the end cause more work for the minis who have to decide which ones get deleted.

The kicker is that people are already posting on the board before the previews even show up saying how great the item looks! That means that while the maker of the board saves all of the images and codes the damn thing, it's way faster for people who are actually interested in seeing the wearables to just go to their wardrobes and look at the items themselves.

Besides, the previews look way better on an HA instead of just as a little 10x10 image without any body around it to give some reference.

I mentioned my feelings on a recent board (not in as much detail) and felt a little guilty because I've felt this way a long time and haven't mentioned it, and didn't intend to target the maker of that particular board or anything. Plus I got accused of 'not being patient enough' when that really wasn't the point of my posts at all. So now I'm writing it here for everyone to enjoy. :D

Since the new Wardrobe came out and I have the chance to get the previews there... I left the Avatar Forum. Okay, I've never been active 'member' there...mainly because of the fact that HAs are not my main interest ... but I left the HA Forum when it comes to the previews. Okay 'I left' is maybe not correct... because, I've never been there, so.. uhm. Eh, forget it. xD

I prefer my previews on the HA itself... and not only on that blank white background. ^_^;

Amen to that. And Ive even seen boards where the op didnt even put previews up. They just waited for the people posting on the board to link em up. FUCK THAT.

still it's much easier to view all items at once than search for the colors yourself and search one by one in the wardrobe. also these boards make it easier to add the items to our wishlist. this is why they STILL need to be made.

anyways editing afterwards is the only way to make them cause they delete all besides the first posted bord. no matter if yours is complete and the others aren't

AND if it's not an extra point for you to be the first poster.... why do i know many users just because they are always the preview posters?

I totally agree. While I love the convenience of not having to go into the sluggish wardrobe and searching for the previews myself, one would think that someone who is going to make a preview thread already have previews there. It's not like people in the advertising forum make a thread before they have something to sell--but have things in mind.

No, you should come prepared. It's not a race. It reminds me of WADYL when that was allowed to be made by any user. Everyone was in a rush to make the next just because it brought some sort of prestige and attention to the creator. Preview threads don't even have that, so I don't see why it's such a big deal to make them.

If I want to add items to my wishlist, I just go to the item directory. I enjoy the previews threads, but I have to agree with the OP. "Will edit" threads with nothing there are really kind of a let down. :(

How about having all the previews up and ready and actually being helpful instead of making previews for the sole purpose of doing it first?

Heres the thing, if no one did it. NO ONE WOULD DO IT. Whoever gets it up faster...complete. Gets the glory. And if youre too damn lazy to do a 12 item preview, wait til a TS item for Free gift, then its only one item :D See how that works?

That's why I LOVE the Item Directory Building. IF the Item has a 'normal' rarity... and not Special or something of that kind. :D

I don't mind the boards being made.

I think I'm going to make a rule, and just start locking those boards. It's really just spam, and annoys me to no end. If you have them, make the board. If you don't, collect them and make the board.

yeah i understand that.

of course there are other ways. still people are always thankful for these boards! i once made a board like that, too. and i edited it within 2 minutes will ALL images- that can't be too much waiting-time!

[edit] @ keith: i think this is a good rule! it would be nice if the minimods would colse the non-finished boards instead of closing all boards but the first posted one!

Omg, I forgot to mention the worst part!

When people make these 'will edit' boards, they HAVE NOT EVEN SEEN THE PREVIEWS. Why make a preview board when you haven't even seen them yet? Ugh.

But... I'd say... if the wait is longer than... 10? ... lock board etc.

i absolutely agree on that. these are really annoying! at least they should either have the name or the item-icon posted so that you can either add via image or copy and paste the name

Ugh so true, either put them all up in the post before you make the thread or FORGET it. Yes i know its nice for my lazy ass to see them isntead of look it up myself, but that doesn't mean you need to be a glory whore of a preview thread just to get yours "FIRST OMG FIRST!! LOLOLOL" so on and so forth.

I've never understood the need for preview boards since the new wardrobe system. The only items that need a preview thread now are the new reading drive wearables and MCTs.

When you've got all the items and names laid out for you in the token shop / crystal shop/ free gift corner / item directory building then just trot on over to the wardrobe.
