In short, put on your big girl panties and deal with it.
This!

There is a difference between saying "Damn I lost the pet", then politely telling the person who snapped it up that they have interrupted a transfer and that you'd like to get the pet back, and freaking out, threatening to quit, and begging/whining at the person in hopes they will give you the pet.

Most people don't adopt for the color. The main reason, I think, for adopting is to get a certain name for the pet.

I don't get it. People are comparing a non-existent trading system on Subeta to the one on Neopets. Saying that it will be the same way is dumb, because you don't know it will be. Subeta and Neopets have hugely different communities. I realize there was a trading system before, and admittedly I was not around when there was, but there are so many ways you could make it so all this shit doesn't happen.

Also, I already get people constantly asking me if several of my pets (Isaac, Othello and Lucien especially) are UFA or are ever going to be UFA. I realize there would probably be an increase in this behaviour but it's not like it doesn't already exist.

I would die if that ever happened to me. I remember when I adopted my lovely Syn, I would have been devastated if someone had snatched him =[ he was just an experiment then, so I wasn't too worried, but still.

Transfer system would be nice.

YES. Oh god, yes. Then I wouldn't have to wait and wait and wait for the person I'm trying to adopt to/from to be on at the same time as me. I don't really understand why it's not implemented. The only thing: your pet slot is still filled when your pet is in transfers, and of course there's an Accept/Decline option.

You know what amazes me? I've transferred my pets to my fiance' and my friends, and even with his slow ass computer/connection and not really knowing how to work Subeta- none of my pets were lost.

So I'm thinking you either have shitty lucky or you're doing it wrong.

At any rate, I think it's perfectly possible to get an identically-colored pet in no time. It's super easy to get nice pets on Subeta.

I ahve a ton of sympathy towards you, because this has happened to me on Neopets before their transfer system. It stings when they don't give it back, and it stings when you know they're right when they say "It's fair game." But I don't think Subeta is at the point where a transfer system is needed. You had bad luck once; use the tips Tche said earlier and I'm sure you'll have better luck if you ever try again.

I have never understood why people feel the need to adopt pets, when you are perfectly capable of creating your own... just make another and you can have the pet exactly the way you want it.

Seriously, we don't need one, when you adopt out a pet both parties know the risks, you're taking them when you agree to send out the pet, if you miss it, big deal, sure it's frustrating but come on, it's not the end of the world.

I feel the need to say this again: Very often people adopt pets not because of the colours, which I agree with you, are very easy to recreate, but because of the names.

Ok. :(

I've never had a problem transferring pets, and I don't see why we'd need a system to do it. XD If you're prepared for the pet, it's easy enough to catch it in time.

Just my two cents. :D

Honestly, I'd shit kittens if there was a transfer system here. Or create someway to pound the pet for another user, making it invisible to everyone else EXCEPT for the new owner. . .I think someone mentioned this in a thread before but I forget who. I believe it was one of the admins :P (not that I'd use it unless I want one of my trusted friends to hold a pet for me. . .xD)

If a name is all that's really important about a pet, and the pound has very few pets like it does right now, then my advice is to turn the pet Common before transferring it. Especially if you're not experienced at transfers.

It makes the whole process much safer, because even with a great name, a common pet is far more overlook-able than the most expensive color on the site. :/

I'm in total agreement. I sympathize, since we DO have an adoption center for people to adopt pets out to certain people IMO the pound is NOT fair game. Why would we have a forum set up for people to find new owners for their pets if they are told "tough luck" when someone ELSE gets the pet.

Remember, things aren't always perfect. Subeta may go down, people might be off on their timing...heck even the internet could go out or they could have a power failure. Any of those things could result in a lost pet, and I don't see that as making them fair game at all.

I personally believe we need a system to either TRADE pets or have some sort of DIRECT TRANSFER. With a new rule enforced when people ask about trading/obtaining a pet when someone has no adoption board out or any indication the pet us up for trade to prevent spamming of people with highly sought after names.

But thats just my two cents.

I agree with . If someone wants the pet for the name only, turn it common. I did it the other day with a pet of mine that I transferred. Three letter real word name, transferred with no problems at all.

I believe the pound is fair game Its not like the person was malicious and knew that was going to someone else. I do like the transfer system dunno when I would use it but i think its needed.

I've pounded my main pet that is glade and has over 5k stats more than once and never had a problem. I can't help but think you guys were talking in comments about pounding the pet and the person was reading this so they knew when to go? If so, it's still dumb on your part for doing that. If you're making threads to pound a pet that's even riskier than just pounding it to a friend. Perhaps I'd have more sympathy towards someone who doesn't quit over not catching a free pet. Hopefully you've all learned something from this! You shouldn't get a group of people to mail one user who did nothing wrong and you shouldn't count your chickens before they hatch. It wasn't a sure deal you would catch the pet... you just hoped you would.

Everyone who's weighing in with the 'I transferred five million pets with no trouble' anecdotes - yes, maybe they DID do it wrong, but remember the pound was recently cleared. That's a much much bigger chance right there of a transfer being interrupted by pure chance.

My own two cents: I think a pet trading system could conceivably open an unpleasantly Neoesque can of worms, because it would be a way of imposing an objective worth on the pets and I'm not sure it's a good idea to go there.

Direct transfer, though, which is not the same thing as trading - I think we could do with that.

since i'm close to adopting out my nightmare kora, a direct transfer does sound like a neat idea at the same time, i actually don't really care if the future owner will catch her or not :x weird thing to explain, but yeah

if someone should snatch her, i will politely comment and ask for the pet back and if the answer would be 'no', i'm done after all, she won't be mine anymore so i don't see a real reason to care :P

and yes, the pound IS a fair game it really bugs me when people say 'stupid pound surfers/lurkers/snatchers!' i mean, how do you know that that person didn't just happen to be at the right place in the right time? i caught a few 'good' pets on neo simply for refreshing the page 2-3 times (i was never a pound surfer, it bored me)
