When you think of an anglerfish, the animal you picture (with the teeth and the lure) are the females of the species. The males are tiny and can't live on their own for long. Instead, they bite onto a female and slowly merge into her skin, fertilizing her in the process.

Mine rambling iz odd, and can be partially explained as behavior that is resulting from a lifetime of paranoid schizophrenia. Tho now the symptoms are under control, an the residual effects are what can be...appreciated.

Mine find the idea of the Mad Max world implausible, at best, for one reason; everything on a car wears down.

This comes from a lifetime of working on cars and trucks, there is almost no component of a powerplant, drive train or other automotive system that doesn't need replacement.

Hell, the first thing to go is engine oil, maybe three months...

I made a cake recently! Gluten-free and dairy-free; would have been vegan, but for the powdered sugar for the frosting (I think there's only one store near me that MIGHT carry vegan powdered sugar, but everything is more expensive there). It was chocolate with cream cheese frosting, the favorite of someone who came up to visit and whose birthday was only a couple of weeks earlier. By the time I went home in the evening, only a quarter of the cake was left, so it's safe to say it was a hit. (I was pretty worried about how it would turn out, I've not made a cake in AGES since it seems silly to bake a whole cake with just two people in my household.)

I have the misfortune to wear out computer mice at an absurd rate... My previous was the longest lasting, and I only had it for about two years. I had a Razer (DeathAdder or Taipan, I think) before it, and the buttons wore out in just a year, super disappointing since that brand is so expensive. (Tons of people seem to swear by Razer, but I won't be buying another of their peripherals ever again after that mouse.) Just got a new one today with a stated 60M click life expectancy which is from a brand I generally trust for PC components (MSI), hopefully I won't have to order another for a good few years.

Before dinosaurs evolved to become the dominant speacies they were out competed by a huge variety of creatures belonging to the crocodile family. If these various kinds of crocodiles hadn't died out, dinosaurs might never have existed.

Aristotle held science back for thousands of years by arguing against thinkers like Democritus who came up with the idea of atoms back in Ancient Greece. As a result, the idea of atoms was thought of as nonsense until the recent era.

Funny how this transformed from random fact about yourself to just random facts.

Fact about me? I collect virtual pet toys!

Random fact? Lots of coral reproduces by tossing all those gametes into the water and hopefully the XX's and the XY's find each other. Lots of undesirable fluids in the ocean don't go drinking it 💀
