I tested this for the first time today and I have one question and one extra thick tinfoil hat:
Are there any plans for Freyalise? Or will it just use the new system as-is? ("will-be"?)
Restockables are much more accessible now, which I believe will lead to a plummet of user shop sales and consequently their prices. If no one sells no one makes money and items' price reflect everyone's buying power. All fine here. However, if this does happen, it will affect new users much, much harder. I'm worried this might just lead to an even bigger gap between new and old users.
Hiya Keith,
I've been restocking a few items the last few days and have noticed that the price is no longer in flux. Items continue to be the same price as they were days before :(
I'd also like to take the time to write that the frequency of rare items is a bit too high. I don't know if the rate was determined when the truck deliveries were at the bare minimum but now that all the shops have maxed deliveries it's just... too high 😅 I don't think a Spectrum Potion should be popping up in shops 5 times a day, or any R99 for that matter. Here's some options I've thought of to help balance it:
I don't know the coding behind it but perhaps it could be changed on a shop by shop basis like the Apothecary and Spells Galore taking longer than other shops to restock because the product needs to be crafted/gathered by hand? And/or Shops stay at the tier 1 delivery level and can be upped during certain events, ex. The Candy Shack has more deliveries during Morostide, battle shops up their deliveries during Gelly war, Get Mugged or something has a 1st of every month promotion going on (something similar to Baskin Robbins with the discount tub on the 31st of the month :P), maybe a restock war with a different rotating shop every day? 👀
Once the shops have their price points adjusted I'd like to also suggest a 'deal of the day' where there's one high value item discounted so people can try and grab it for a good price!
When will the other quests and restocking shops be added to Kumos?
Yeah seconding this, I don't think potions should be showing up this much. I've seen them several times in a day restocked which is (even with the buy limit) way too often for something that's supposed to be at least somewhat rare.
I've noticed that a lot of the rares (80+) that I restocked have started dipping in price in the user shops by about 30-40k. Demon Wings were about 70k when this thread started and now are about 24k. Wavy Athame is about 68k and now it's 27k. The sort of medium rares (like r70-80) have held their price of being about 20-30ks.
I thought the Subetateam purchases from user shops were supposed to make sure that 80+ items didn't lose their value.
I thought so too! I last see the Subetateam in the shop I haven't priced in a while on the 14th, so maybe it needs to be poked again or something. I feel like rares being more available in Kumos would be alright if Subetateam keeps with buying but this might not the case.
I think Subetateam is only buying R99!
biting for all strains!
This doesn't help rarities 80-98 going down in value, though.
I'm also pretty sure the max limits are broken too.
Banshee Tongue is r82 and has a total of 174 in stock. Wavy Athame is in the same bracket as a r90 and has 108. Simple Goblet has a whopping 239 in stock at r85. These are all supposed to be capped at 100 according to the list.
Something that's crossed my mind recently with the frequency of items being stocked in NPC shops is that it's going to drop demand to buy items from user shops. It's just a consequence of having items cheaper and in abundance in the NPC shops. At the moment the price fluctuation is broken but even with that prices on items will be a max of 15-20k? And for apothecary stuff like 350k. Why not just wait a day or two to catch a Nightmare Potion restock if you need one, you know? Add the built-in system to clear out rare items that go below a certain value and it's just going to generate new sP rather than act as a way to exchange currency between users. Auctions and trades could act as a replacement for exchanging currency I suppose but there should be some sort of sP sink to counter the new currency flooding user shops

I decided that I am just going to go ahead and unprice most of the items in my specialized shops because the prices are beginning to get too low for my tastes. I've been restocking and reselling items from Spells Galore for a few years now and I know how well these things should sell and at what price. Items I'm used to selling for 25-30k are starting to drop to below 10k.
Why would anybody go to my shop when they can hop on Kumos whenever they want for a lot of cheaper? Rares have 100s in stock right now! It's not like anyone has a hard time getting it. It's a surprise any of it is selling for more than the Kumos price!
I understand that the Kumos shops are probably not working as intended but quite frankly, if you don't have the time to babysit it and make sure it's doing what you said it should do, then it shouldn't be around to make "rare" items super available. At this point, my experience as a reseller has gotten worse. I wanted to like it, I really did, but it's starting to really hurt my ability to make money and I'm starting to get really frustrated.
I don't even know if I should bother trying to post on his thread anymore because it's feels like I'm talking to myself!
I think you're making some great points.
My 2c:
I personally enjoy RSing from the Main Shops, it's the main thing I do on Subeta nowadays. I'm a bit unsure about the system changing - it sure does need changing though. I'm not a complete fan of the current system but I've learnt to navigate it's intricacies.
This new system seems overly complicated. What is the end game? To make RSing more or less profitable? Which is it?
Amber said a ping might work. The Kumos shops are not following the limits you have outlined and it's really hurting resellers because rares are too available.
So, IDK I played with this a bit. I don't like it. It's mostly that I really like RSing. I'm not like serious about it, but this takes the fun out of it. There's no challenge in learning what the good things are, or thrill of hunting for them, I guess. It's boring and just like idk grinding in a video game, I will 100% never bother with RSing in the future if this is how it will be. RSing is like it's own little game for me, and this takes all the joy out of it.
[edit] Also not a fan of the limits. Again, I feel like restocking should be a bit of a challenge, and it's not really all that rewarding when you can only so many of a thing. Give me my dopamine, damn it.
Definitely something needs to be done with the stocking rates or something with so many low-value rares, but I really hate this I'm sorry.
On the positives side: I like the idea of 'trucks' to limit the amount of things available per day, but maybe have the staff 'stock the shelves' every so often/half hour/at randiom or whatever the rate is in the legacy shops so it works more like them? Maybe don't list amounts of stocked items, like in a real shop the customer isn't going to know how many there are hiding in the back room or whatever.

I posted this in discord but dropping it here as well for awareness.
Per the original post:
Definitely doesn't seem like shops are working as intended. Limits are not being applied. Paw Natural is probably one of the worst offenders but all the shops don't appear to have a limit on what is delivered and how many remain stocked. It looks like many users have similar concerns to what this is doing to the subeta economy. Even with the daily purchase limit, I can just wait until the next day to buy more items with so many items remaining in stock. It's essentially made purchasing from user shops unnecessary and restocking user shops now a waste of sP.
LOOK AT ALL THESE CANNED GOODS :OOOO
All the shop keeper rn:

It is still worth restocking from NPC shops which aren't on the Kumos system. It can still be worthwhile restocking rare items from the legacy NPC shops if purchases are limited to one a day on Kumos.
What might help is if the Subetateam bought items of R90+ instead of just R99.
My personal opinion is that the legacy shop restock system should be transferred to Kumos because it works as well as it is possible for an economy which is artificial.
The restock system now uses a multi-step selection process with weighted probabilities:
The system now maintains a separate tracking record for each item in each shop, allowing for more nuanced inventory management. Items that perform well in some shops might be retired in others based on local purchase patterns.
A weekly deep cleanup process ensures long-term inventory health across all shops, preventing accumulation of unpopular items while still allowing periodic reintroduction to test if demand has changed.
💖 ✨ 🤗
Maybe one reason why there are unpopular items in the Kumos NPC shops is people using the legacy shop search when doing Kumos quests.
If a requested item is in one of my own shops it is shown in the legacy shop search so I can remove it.
If a required item is stocked in a legacy NPC shop I buy it from there so I can use my discount card even if it's in stock in a Kumos NPC shop. This works out a lot cheaper if Saggitarius asks for something in All That Glitters if it's stocked in a legacy NPC shop.
Some rare books are now ridiculously cheap because the Kumos Wizard quests keep giving the same few as prizes.
