Advertising needs some the subforums back or there needs to be a selling subforum in other forums. The market and culture around selling sP is very different from CWs and those are both very different from art and profiles. Sticking them all together just doesn't work - you should at least divide it up by market.

Is there any update regarding when the squish / new organization tools / specific feedback board will all be completed and announced? I think a news post and a "guide" would be super helpful! There are now at least four boards I've seen related to the forum changes and/or people being confused / needing help finding things.

Editing with a recommendation / idea since idk when the feedback forum will be available. Can we consolidate the "rules" boards on merged forums? Some of them now have several "X&Y Rules" at the top and it looks very cluttered and seems unnecessary to have the rules divided out. (I know this is just an outcome of merging forums, just noting that cleaning it up via board consolidation would be fabulous). In addition, I think it may be "cleaner" and make sense to have the links usually on a separate "helpful links" type board merged included in the rules board for each forum section. Kinda like a complete introduction to the forum section.

For example, the Profiles & Graphics forum (which I think is now discussion, freebies, buying, and selling for: user profiles, pet profiles, customized site codes, forum / site graphics, and pet overlays?) begins with 3 individual "rules" boards. It also has (or had? I can't find it) a board that was stickied and held links to helpful boards and what not. It makes sense to me that we could have one sticked board that was titled "Profiles and Graphics Forum Rules & Resources" and then the first post(s) could have the site and forum rules links, the written out rules for the now merged forums, helpful info that may not be a rule persay, and then resources (like a link to the CSS Compendium, popular free Pre-Made Profile Boards, offsite tools, etc).

An example of the helpful info that may not be a rule example - in the pet forum there's a Looking for a Specific Date board where people are asked to post specific dates that they're looking for. IDK if that's an actual rule, but it's good for people to know off the bat about that board! There's also a spotlight and TC support board that people could be directed to for TC help (or an individual board could be made specific to this for people to use vs having all their own boards). Again, not a rule but helpful info because it may prevent people from making a ton of individual boards asking for TC ideas.

I know Subeta historically can't take any unpaid help, but I know staffing is tight and there's a lot of stuff going on bts so if y'all want / can accept help on little tasks like this please LMK! I truly am happy to help the site and community. c:

Forum descriptions are probably also needed now, so people know (using Faune's examples) "Profiles and Graphics" means "place to buy or sell, help others, or get freebies" and includes pet profiles, user profiles, custom site CSS, and forum graphics. Otherwise you might not realize the amount of things you can actually post there.

Just wondering when the organization tools will be happening? The new forum squish makes sense, but has a definite QOL impact on user-experience when it comes to understanding what goes where, changes to rules, and being able to easily discern what "type" certain boards fall into. Since it was stated several times that organization tools were happening, and since there are other things now seemingly getting focus, I'd love an update on if these are still coming and any idea of when. We were asked to give things a fair chance and hold feedback until things were completed, but now it seems like radio silence and like the committed to QOL improvements as part of the squish are being left sitting. Any update at all would be appreciated.

I have not. Is that on Legacy anywhere? I wasn't able to find it x.x Thank you for sharing that! So as of current - staff (minimods) will need to go through and label all the active boards on certain forums but eventually people who create a topic will be able to do this?

The plan is for minimods and mods to come up with an organization scheme that fits all of those boards (in progress!).

Topic creators can editor their topics any time to add labels that have been created by the mods, so we'll see the organization start to take shape over the next week or so.

Individual forums will then ask for feedback on what labels you'd like to see, and if we get a lot of very similar ones we'll keep on the same path, with "approved" labels made by mods and usable by anyone making a thread in that forum.

If it's a huge chaotic mass of labels then we'll figure out a way to allow user created labels.

Thank you for the reminder on the promise on those tools, I promise I didn't forget!

Can I just put a bit of feedback here? I HATE that the advertising section doesn't have CWs separate anymore. I don't care much about non CWs - I just buy them via my wishlist or the cash shop. But CWs are hard to hunt down sometimes and I liked browsing that advertising section daily, but now I can't be bothered outside of group pings because there's so much irrelevant stuff. There's other things that have been condensed that also make it more difficult to navigate, but for me that's the big one.

I get being able to search and whatever/adding organization options, and that the aim is to make people more active on the forums, but I'm not likely to personally be more active like I used to be. For one thing, I'm in my thirties and it's inappropriate to be chatting with teens and possibly kids online (in my defense my account is over 17 years old). I keep to myself and play with my wardrobe these days. Also, tbh the older I get the less patience I have for super interactive stuff. I like my layouts clean and simple and get frustrated with complicated/busy designs (kumos isn't that bad, but I have a hard time with it). I finally understand old people who can't deal with technology. I will 100% never use a live chat; I didn't even use the shoutbox ever. I'm not going to quit when the old site goes away, but I will cling to it until it's dying breath because I find Kumos too much effort to navigate for my autistic old lady ass. (I mostly use the custom bookmarks, btw - so it's as close as I can get to the OG subeta where navigation was just a sidebar.) Kumos also does not work on mobile for me at all (iOS), IDK why.

Just some insight from a neurodivergent old fart. I don't mean this to be negative, just some things to consider. Forgive me if I misinterpreted something. Mostly that the new forum organization so far is really confusing and not intuitive at all, at least for me anyway - given the way my piece of crap brain works. ...And I think it's just like work to have organize and save tags (like instagram - which I quit ages ago lol), or whatever if that's the direction we're going? I don't have a lot of time to spend here anymore, and I assume a lot of my fellow older players don't either.

I know its an odd adjustment, but I did try to tag all of the threads with CWs in them so that you can filter through for CWs in Ads. Click me

I just want to advocate for the old "Human Avatar Contests and Games" forum, my old favorite and the only place I really posted on outside of holidays. It's such an easy place to interact with people, see their creativity, or show off your own, without busting your brain or overthinking things. Especially if you play alone, and one of your favorite features of this site is avatar-making. It was a fun way to get attention and feedback without just posting "look at me!" I liked that there was a dedicated space for it <3

pokes head in

It's been a while since the forum squish and other related changes happened. Having given a good amount of time to the changes (it was a lot for someone who spent almost 18 years with the old forums okay!?) I can say that most of the "new" is actually totally fine and makes sense xD

That being said, I wanted to toss some QOL thoughts out there in case some of them are things that hit home for other community members or could be taken under consideration by staff!

Forum Thoughts

  • I'd love if we could "collapse" the scrolling bar at the top. The movement is just the right speed to bother my eyes, especially if they're already having a hard time.

  • It would be cool if we had a block that was "pinned" boards for easy access. I know I tend to use a few boards daily and it would be nice to be able to leap to them from the forum homepage. TBH this would be way more helpful than the recent posts section, especially since there's also "trending" today, "trending" this week, and "recently answered".

  • It would be cool if all the "forum group" headers could be under a collapsible header versus all their own thing. There's a lot of groups I (and others) are in simply for being pinged (like art, legacy names, etc). Honestly the giant list of useless blocks makes me want to leave as many groups as I can because it's so visually bothersome. Alternatively, maybe we could select "do not display" somewhere for these.

  • Is there any way the forum homepage can have more color distinction to separate sections the way the legacy site does? The kumos forum home page feels like one big blob and it's overwhelming.

  • The Subeta commerce heading is empty and the related boards (advertising and the creative forums where art and graphics are sold) are all elsewhere. Can this block go poof if it's not going to be used? Same with Social Scene.

  • Are we all supposed to have access to the mini-mods and staff forums?

  • LOVE the pinned and about this forum side bar!

  • Can we PLEASE color-code based on certain tags? begs I use the pet forum and advertising forum throughout every day, and while I totally understand the merge, having all those different "groups" smushed together is truly unpleasant. I promise I gave it a solid college try but it's still a daily thought for me (essentially every time I go on the forums) and I know others have voiced the same feelings. Now that more adoption boards are popping up it has become even more noticeable. It would be a massive QOL thing if these different "types" of boards within a forum could be distinct. For example, a board tagged "adoption" under Pets would be shaded blue. A board tagged "buying" on the Advertising forum would be shaded blue and one tagged "giveaway" would be shaded purple. I feel like having visible colored tags wouldn't work well, because the colored paws / icons would look about the same. Unless the colored "tag" was in a left hand column so it was easy to see.

I totally get if some of these are just "me" things and thus won't be implemented lol. But I figured it was worth tossing out there!

thinking about this some today, while i understand the reasoning behind this squish, its really killed my interactions on the forums. seeing latest topics posted in on various forums was really what drove me to click on different topics, and with everything so squished together, now when i click on the forums theres less "headlines" for me to see and say oh, that's interesting lets check this out. not sure if others feel this way, or if it will even be changed at this point, but wanted to put that forward.

perhaps theres a more happy medium. a latest posts widget at the top showing the x latest responses x latest created threads would be nice, because now theres no way to see if there are 2 topics on a forum/subforum that i would be interesting in checking out. or a second topic thats still been popular but hasnt been the most recent.
