I had my consultation so I'll be finding out when it is hopefully sometime this month! Far from my first surgery but thank-you! :) I've heard about those nausea patches but I don't think they sell them in Canada anymore for some dumb reason.

I usually ask for a butterfly needle when they're taking my blood but apparently they can't use those for IV's? At least that's what the nurse told me when I requested it for my surgery last year.

I'm so very sorry to hear about your cancer! Also, your story about your veins had me petrified but I'm glad you made it through. I apparently have "good veins" which is so gross to hear imo but it's reassuring because my mom has thin ones that roll around making it almost impossible to get. I'm sure I can do it, it just grosses me out to no end!

Talk with the anesthesiologist who will see, when you register and get surgery date, they should have something similar to the nausea patches we have in the states.

Well I read a medical journal article, and they are used for surgery. It could be hospital policy or procedure to use the other needle. Again, I would ask the surgeon or anesthesiologist. Because I have had a nurse say what she wanted so she could get me to do what she wanted or was comfortable with when it came to where she want the IV site on the top of my hand.

remember its about you and your comfort, so be pro-active as you can be.

I know I have to be my own biggest advocate but last time they did the IV before I got to see the anesthesiologist. I tried one time to get the IV done just before surgery but they held my arms down and then I freaked out because why tf would they do that? So then the anesthesiologist refused to work on me and I had to sit with an IV in, crying for literal hours, waiting for another one to show up. So now I pick the lesser of the evil's which is letting the nurse do whatever she wants lol but I agree, it should be about my comfort in that situation.

it's been a couple of days since I was here Friday I had appointment at Dr then went and seen my wife in the hospital and then yesterday I brought her home... The Dr. Thinks she was bit by a brown recluse this will be the second time that has happened.. she is home now and I have become a nurse since yesterday... She can walk around but it hurts and real slow ... We did go have breakfast with our grandkids this morning 🌄😀😀
