I'm doing good it's been a week today since surgery... I did get up yesterday and couldn't breathe until I hacked up a big loogy it was blocking my airway once that came out I could catch my breath again

... i'm sorry if i misunderstood something, but it was the translator's fault cough... since corona, the housing situation has become catastrophic everywhere... even here you can hardly pay the rent... i think it's really tough that your father demands so much rent from his child... either you help and then within the scope of your possibilities or you don't... you don't take advantage of an emergency situation and certainly not in the family, that's just not right... ( that's just my opinion... ) the drivers in public service don't earn much here either... i don't want to do the job... have a short fuse... here, if you live in a sublet, which would be similar for your parents, you calculate a maximum of 1/3 of your net income... so with 1000€ your father shouldn't get more than 330€... do you have something like housing benefit? i.e. a state subsidy for rent? if so, you should apply for it...
or you close your air vents... we do that here too, you just have to make sure you always ventilate well... i have it closed in my bathroom... i don't need to hear what my neighbor is doing in his toilet... i don't know if there's anything like that in your area, but here, for example, you can move into a sublet house where a pensioner lives alone... the man or woman rents the house to you until death and then it is yours... in return you take care of the house and your landlord... the conditions are negotiated... most of the time this means shopping from time to time or helping out, helping in the garden and maybe spending some time with the landlord... medical care is excluded... but everything is talked about and you can discuss and negotiate everything... or you can move into a shared flat and save up until you can afford something nice... but if your earnings as a bus driver are so low, you will have to cut back... remember; there are no problems, only solutions...

Haha. I was like "What? I explained myself really well" lol. I agree! Since Covid, nothing is cheap. Rent for a one bedroom in my city is now $1,500-2,000 plus utilities! Basically, what you're describing (where you help out others), is cooperative housing. I /could/ apply for housing, but the kind of people you mostly find in it are dealers, etc (we have housing complexes with a bad rap where the police always show up. I don't wanna be somewhere like that). I don't want to be in a place like that because based on your tax return, they pick a building for you, unless they changed it.
We do have a rental subsidy. I applied for it and they don't give you much towards rent, but it helps. It was either I apply for subsidy or housing. You are not allowed to apply for both. It's one or the other.
I don't have vent covers for mine. The landlords didn't want to spend money on them, so my brother covered all of them with 3 layers of painters tape haha. It definitely helps!
My dad will squeeze you for every cent when he can. It's sad. There've been times where I borrowed money, paid him back and then he claimed I didn't, so I had to give it again.
I also agree on him getting no more than $400 for a room! When I was 19 and living at home, I was paying $250. 19!!!! All my other co-workers didn't get charged rent to stay at home (I was working at a call center at the time).
Omg. I have a short fuse, no patience and get angry easily. I also have panic attacks and look what I do for work lol. It's definitely trying at times, but rewarding.
.. yes you have already explained correctly, only the translator says strange things... :) ... here you pay for 1 room fully furnished about 1000$... i pay for 2 rooms, cooperative apartment, with electricity and heating 735$, that is very cheap and i live on the outskirts of the city where it is very quiet and a lot of green around it... the closer you move to the city the more expensive it gets...We get about 1/3 of our rent subsidy from the state... But there are many cooperatives and the landlords usually pay attention to who can move in and who can't. Of course, interested parties show their best side when applying and it's amazing what sometimes becomes of them once they've moved in... but these are exceptions...
here the parents only take money from the children if they earn a lot.. someone who earns $500 a month doesn't pay more than $50-100 to the parents.. but usually nothing.. it's sad to read that your father is trying to capitalize on your situation.. but it's not my place to judge that.. does your father know that he has to declare the rent he gets from you on his taxes? .. ;) .. ;) and you can deduct it.. :) .. you have to try to make the best of every situation... you can do that too and sometimes you get help from a completely different source.. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you..

Well better out then in my Mom always used to say, so cough them up and get them out. Glad your doing good! How are the grand babies doing?
