Fair enough! Hiding out in the dark is plenty spooky and sounds like a great Halloween night! And that sounds super cute haha. I didn't get a chance to dress up this year because we buried our Halloween decoration box with my costumes in it in storage and I was too wiped out after just starting the new job to go looking for it, but we had fun regardless. If nothing else, I can say I was dressed up as a victim of late-stage capitalism hahaha.

We're doing fine! It's been a busy month for us with Dani's dad coming in to town for almost a week to visit, having to ready our bathroom for a renovation, and me starting a new job, but it's been good. How are you holding up? How was your Halloween? What have you been up to lately?

- Oh, that's awful! I hope they're ok. It really sucks when that happens although you'd think that the adults driving at that time would know kids are going to be around and possibly not paying attention. :/ I'm not enjoying being healthy, though. I have such carb cravings I could start gnawing on the furniture. There's got to be carbs in there somewhere, right? Beets are loaded with vitamins and minerals. That's why I eat them. Plus, they're really good pickled. ;)

- Wow, you've both been busy! A new job, eh? Do you like it so far? Oh, you poor gals, a bathroom reno? Bigger or just better then before? :) I've not been busy. I've been taking it easy after my summer excapades. I'm not sure if you saw, but I broke my leg at the end of July and ended up in the hospital for early renal failure. Both are fixed now. The renal failure was due to my cardiac meds being too high. We're still adjusting and I have an echo at the end of the month to tell us if it's working or not. Keep your fingers crossed. I don't want to mess with my cardiac meds any more then necessary. :) Hugs It's nice to see you here. :D

After all you went through you need to just live and do the things you enjoy!! I see you mentioned Dani!! Would love for them to come chat with us!

You like beets too? 😮I never knew I liked them until a few years ago and now I love them. I like the greens too but the stems are bitter so I toss those. And fresh is the best!!!! Stay healthy and fight those cravings. I don't know, it might be an old lady thing, but my willpower for junk is now pretty amazing, even to me. LOL!!!

- I've never eaten the greens. The stuff we get at the grocery store usually doesn't have the greens on them and when they do... yuck. Enough said. 😂 I am trying but it's hard when everyone else eats food that tastes good and I'm stuck with food that has no taste at all. But, I'm new to this so I just need to get used to it. :D

Usually the greens at my store are gross but every once in a while they look great so I chop, wash and spin and add to my salads. It is hard to eat mindfully around those that don't. Especially since I'm guessing you depend a lot on them to prepare stuff for you. I'm not sure I could do it either in your circumstance. But telling myself I'll pass and wait until Saturday sure has helped. I eat overnight oats for breakfast and chicken breast and barely eat anything until dinner. Liz and I eat dinner early so it's not too bad. If I get really hungry I'll eat some baby carrots, chicken breast or plain fat free yogurt that I sweeten with stevia. And since Liz loves veggies I always have a bunch made up and I nibble on those too. Then I eat a huge salad every night and that takes a lot of effort so not sure you could do that. Then after dinner I do eat a few snacks. But today...🤣🤣🤣All self restraint tossed out the window!!

- My hubby is the worst in that area. Once he found out that InstaCart will deliver groceries to us that's all he does. So, he doesn't even look at the items, just pictures the grocery store provides and who knows what you'll get. My son just makes the food my hubby says. I tried to get them to get salad fixings last grocery run but they forgot. Next grocery run is in a couple of days and I'm going to throw a tantrum until they put the salad fixings in the cart. :P Tonight, I'm getting homemade General Tso and rice. No broccoli as the hubby "forgot" to get it. At least it's Saturday and I get a peanut butter cookie with it as dessert. 😂

Instacart has spoiled so many people. We have shoppers with big carts all over our stores now. For some odd reason I rather like grocery shopping, although it really wears me out. I know it's hard for you to eat healthy but don't give up altogether!!!!!!🧡

- It has and, oh boy, are some of those shoppers stupid. You tell them you want salted butter but they find that there isn't any? What do they do? They are supposed to text and ask if you have a preferred alternative. Sometimes they do, most of the time they don't. We've gotten everything from I Can't Believe It's Butter to nothing at all. Butter, a whole fridge section full of various kinds of butter and they pick exactly nothing. facepalm There have been times we've had to make 2 or 3 different orders because they persist in getting things wrong. AAAARRRRGGGH x.X ( :P ) Oh, I'm not giving up. I'm too bullheaded. I'm just digging in and will make my dissatisfaction known to the hyubbby. Plus, I've threatened to haunt him forever if I die because of my diet. 😂

That's horrible they can't even get the right butter! It takes about 30 seconds to look around at all of them. I Can't Believe it's Not Butter!🤣 OMG I can't believe they're that stupid! Good for you! Do not give up trying to get your hubs to shop healthier for you! I'm trying to get my hubs to stop killing me with his cigarette smoke. Most of the time I never smell it but every Fall it suddenly becomes prevalent and it smells like he's smoking in the house when he's not. I think I did a good one today as Liz is coughing too and I told him I think it's affecting her too. She's his angel so maybe he'll figure out how it's coming in the house now. 😁

So far I really do enjoy it! One of the doctors I worked with a few years ago is opening his own clinic and he contacted me earlier in October to ask if I wanted to be his clinic manager and I jumped at the chance! We spent this last week finalizing things and getting set up and manning the phones and we go live on Monday! I'm excited. :)

As for the bathroom, they're just updating it! We've been asking building maintenance to resurface our bath tub since we moved in almost 8 years ago and they've ignored every request but somehow now they've finally come around and said if they're going to resurface the tub, they might as well renovate the whole bathroom so it matches all the newly renovated suites they've redone in the building lately as people have moved out, so that's super exciting!

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about all that, that's so rough. I'm really glad they caught the renal failure early. It often has a really good prognosis if caught early and monitored so I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that it doesn't cause you too much trouble!. I'm also going to manifest your echo showing good signs! Super glad your leg is healed up, too. Fractures are rough. I just want to wrap you up in bubble wrap and get you off your feet for a bit to give your body a break! You deserve a vacation after dealing with all of that!!

Thank you! I've been working on self-compassion and self-care and taking time to do things I enjoy without feeling guilty for not being "productive" all the time. Rest and relaxation ARE productive in their own way so I'm trying to remember that. :)

Yum!! That sounds divine! Bacon and sourdough sound like a really great combination! We had perogies with bacon and onions for dinner and they were SO good. We woke up to our first snowfall of the season this morning so a warm, comforting dinner was the perfect pick-me-up. I'm with Liz, though - guac is not for me haha. I have tried and tried to like avocados but I just can't do it!

Sounds like a wonderful Halloween 😍 We stayed in and relaxed ^0^ We did the trunk-or-treating over the weekend, thankfully. And we don't get trick-or-treaters in my neighborhood because it's so small. They all usually go to the big neighborhoods beside us instead. The last 2 years I tried handing out candy no one came 😭 So I just stopped trying D: I think most people do trunk-or-treating these days because it's safer.

- Yeah, they're not the brightest bulb in the pack, that's for sure. 😂 I used to have that argument with my hubby but he smokes outside or not at all now. He started that about 4 years ago when I was hospitalized for CHF the first time. He thought his smoking made it worse. It didn't but I wasn't going to argue. :P 😂

- That's wonderful! Is it a 24/7 clinic or do you get evenings and some weekends free? :) I'm relieved that the renal failure cleared up with the stopping of my cardiac meds. I was really scared it would be permanent.Everything's good now, kidneys and leg healed and I'm back to driving my hubby batty again. Oh, no! Not the bubble wrap! lol :')) Thank you, hon and right back at ya! :D

-Yeah, the kids around here go to a trunk-or-treat at a church just down the road. It's much safer that way, especially as we're in a rural area and people don't always look while they're driving. :D

Not sure about the bathroom, they're just starting today! We have a living room camera and I checked it earlier to check on the cats and all I could hear in the background was crashing and banging haha. Hopefully it'll be nice!! Our current bathroom is so old and looks it lol.

Having a bit of a bad day today (lost my favourite pin off my backpack and I accidentally ripped out the back of a permanent ear piercing and couldnt find it on the floor (really gaudy carpet at work, it just disappeared) so now I have to get it replaced, which is like $35 ;;_;;) but trying to be positive!

- I'm sorry you're having a bad day. Just think, as soon as you replace the backing of the piercing, you'll find it. It's inevitable. :P I commiserate with the ADHD. I don't have it but I've seen others suffer with it and wonder how they manage to get anything done. Don't worry, your bathroom will look fabulous when it's finished. :) I'm doing ok. Dragging today and not feeling the trick-or-treating or pumpkin patch anymore but that's all. I think I'll actually be happy when it's done and I can do something else for a change. lol :D

Mine smokes outside too but I have a portable AC unit in the bedroom window so the smoke still can come in. A big ole house but he has to smoke by door by the frickin window.

Hahaha fair enough! To be fair, I'm sure it would have been especially delicious with a slight buzz! Everything always tastes better when I'm a little tipsy or a little munchie! And yeah, but it didn't stay. It's already gone. Though there's more in the forecast for tonight so here's hoping it sticks a little! I'm ready for winter!!

I'm glad you're right back to baseline now! I'll keep my fingers crossed that you stay safe and healthy for a long, long time now! As for the clinic, thankfully it's not a 24 hour one. We're open Sundays 11 to 6, Monday to Thursday 9 to 7, and Fridays for 4 hours either in the morning or afternoon, depending on what the doctor wants to do. I have plenty of staff, too, so covering the extra hours and weekends is no sweat. I also just got the COMFIEST pair of scrubs I have ever owned in my LIFE so I'm happy. :D
