I finished it! and I also finished the much shorter next book I was reading, These Lifeless Things, which had a very open ended ending, like that book was complaining about. So, while I enjoyed it a lot, the ending of Lifeless Things was ... I just don't know for sure if it was a good ending or not because I don't understand it yet. In contrast, the ending of Vigor Mortis was entirely conclusive even though it didn't have quite the full effect I had the impression it would when I skimmed the chapter titles/summaries, but, it was still quite neat to find out the Mistwatcher's place in the larger universe via the ending.

- I'm still digesting this but the contrast between Lark and Vita is quite eye-opening. Talk about a discourse on organized spirituality/religion. I'm thinking that the only thing that will establish places firmly in the story will be the mist-watcher's place in it. Until we know that, everyone else is left up in the air, in a gray area that anyohne could twist to their advantage. I'm not sure how close to the end I am but Lark is fighting with her roomate, Gina because Lark finally decided to take off her helmet. :D

I'd say that you're roughly half way through the book at that point. There's a lot more philosophical push and pull to come, as well as the adventures & weirdness.

In terms of different zombie skins, if you want pretty ones, the sickura one (a cherry blossom tree look) is to me the prettiest one.

Love bug and pinky patch are cute and valentine themed with hearts all over. Love bug is all pink hearts and shows some base skin, while pinky patch is a pink base with colored hearts.

If you want an animal transformation, there's a crow one, Fevermore, a pigeon one, Befowled, a moth, Caterkiller, and a shark, Carchari

If you want a classic zombie look, there's boobitis and jolly rotter - if you want a skeletal look, go for blistered hearts.
