Hey, a three day weekend is still exciting!
The school doesn't allow mental health days, either. So I said that she was sick.
And I feel zero percent bad about it. Her grades are fine, she's doing her work.
Just tested out a different way of making our upcycling project for tonight. Rolled the edges in glitter after I hot glued it. Super cute, super messy. Now everything is covered in glitter :P
Oh man. Last year I really needed mental health days! Poor Lily. Breakups are hard.
I've got most of the items in real life. Just a few left to get. Not having a lot of $ makes it easy to finish I guess 😝
Next break from college starts after last day of finals, which is like, the 16th? For work, last day is the 20th. Kids return Jan 9 but we come back like the 5th? Not positive on that but several days before the kids. College classes for next semester also starts shortly after kids return in Jan.
Omg glitter is a disaster no matter how cute it ends up. I'm debating glitter on our ornament...lead teacher decided on snow globe ornaments. Laminating paper, paint, cut out pic of kids. And maybe glitter.
I think everyone needs mental health days.. they're important!
I'm done shopping, just waiting for a few things to come in, and have to wrap just a few more things. But first.. children need to GO. TO. SCHOOL. All at once! :P
Oh, I love the snowglobe ornaments! We're doing shaker ornaments.. jar lids, picture glued inside, glitter and confetti, then plastic cut out from like.. pie and cookie containers, etc etc. This last one, I did hot glue all around the outside of the plastic too, and then rolled it in glitter. Super super cute though! :P
And I did little designs on the plastic too, with sharpies. Little stars and such.
Yea. I have three "personal" days I can take. But I never have in all my years (7 now) as a para. Last year, I seriously thought about it, but then I was like, and leave lead teacher alone with this mess??? noooo. I think she felt the same for the most part. She does use her personal days, but for a "girls trip" that females in her family have taken for years since her sister recovered from breast cancer. So that wasn't a "I need out of this classroom" it was a yearly event anyway.
The personal days come out of our sick days tho, we have 12 of those, so if you use 3 personal days, you only have 9 sick days. After that if you are sick they take from your income to pay the sub. (Unless, maybe, valid reason like covid or family leave or whatever, I don't know as I have never used all of my sick days). Which I like, because every sick day I DON'T use, gets added to my retirement time. So say I have 365 days of sick days I didn't use, and I worked 20yrs as a teacher, I would actually be paid retirement funds at the 21yr rate due to the sick days. Pretty cool.
Your snowglobes sound so cute. I told the lead teacher we should do our own snowglobes since in order to do 22 kids, I had to use sheets enough to make 24 ornaments lol 2 extra ornaments, 2 teachers. Why not!! :P (4 ornaments per laminating sheet)
That is cool Kat. But I don't know.. they're still so important to take!
The ornaments came out pretty cute, I'll have to see if I can remember to take pictures later.
I'm watching Babes in Toyland this morning. It's so good, I don't know why the ratings are so bad. Plus.. baby Keanu! And Drew Barrymore!
Well yea they are important :) And I think if I seriously needed it, I would take it. BUT I was able to vent and whine soooo I was good lol
I vaguely remember watching that show. Do not remember if I really enjoyed it or not!
I have 4 of my kids snowglobes done - I did four to just make sure I was doing it right so it turned out good. Painted the "snow" for the rest of them, lead teacher printed out a few photos, but then ran out of ink, so hopefully she'll get more ink and print the rest of the pictures, and I can complete the rest of the snowglobes (cutting out the kids pictures is the hardest!!!)
[edit] 735pm Whoop Whoop! Decided I would do the Exam 4 (optional) so I could write down the questions/answers for study guide. Got a 97 on the exam (only missed 1 point - 33/34 points) and raised my 94 to a 95 for the class wheee! Now hopefully I do good on the FINAL exam (covers all 12 chapters, yikes). The time limit is what works against me on these exams. I like to be able to choose my answer, then go back and VERIFY it is correct. Which I can't do if I run out of time.
Also I find it a little funny that the teacher stated she would drop the lowest assignment grades...however NONE of my grades have been dropped. However, I do not HAVE a lowest. All my assignment grades were 100's hahah :P The exams is what brought my score down.
[edit] 128pm Saturday You've earned the Free all the Fairies! achievement! I only need to find 2 or 3 more to get the other achievement! :)
Whoo, congrats Kat!
So. I've been carless since Saturday. Then the other car broke Monday. We finally got a chance to look tiday... after a trip to scranton to get a socket (and potatoes). Then Tunkhannock for rotors and brake pads. Then back to Tunkhannock for the right brake pads *argh!). The caliper isn't in stock.
So a full day of working on this... and I still don't have a vehicle.
Arghhhhhh
Aww that really sucks. hopefully you'll get it fixed soon.
blinks umm ok I did say I missed 1 pt on my test right? I went back in today to see when the FINAL exam begins (tomorrow morning) and if there was any info on it (there was, yay, thank you teacher) and realized when I looked at it, that something seemed off....so I looked again...apparently my teacher manually upgraded my score on the exam to 100% :o So yaay! :P No explanation given, no note, nothing, I just saw that I had a 100 instead of the 97 I had after I finished the exam. Weird but yaaaay :P (those extra 3pt didn't change my overall grade though hahaha its still a 95)
Now to pay attention to the info she gave and review for the final. phew.
[edit] Sunday 12pm PHEW!!! I typed all my handwritten notes into a word document as my "studying". Then went and did the Bio Exam while it was all fresh in my mind. Got a 97! :D So my final grade for Bio is 95.9 and for Bio Lab is 98.4. (BTW, my "handwritten notes" are actually the questions and answers from all the quizzes and exams hahah) Still waiting on English teacher (c'mon already!) to grade the MLA paper and final exam. Mine were turned in weeks ago :P I know he's a busy man tho. And he has til the 16th. But he quickly reviewed both of my submissions before I submitted them and said they were good - so I ought to get a good grade. Right now I have 162/170 points (which is a 95) in the class, NOT counting those two assignments.
[edit] can someone sticker me please? Trade Lot
Gotchu Think I can manage that simple task. :P
What the hell is up with the weekend quests never being updated? Did they just throw it to the wayside for the money making events?

huh. now you mention it, it was pete last week too wasn't it? I have seen it repeat like that a few times before now tho, so who knows.
Oh yea - You've earned the Fairy Catcher! achievement! Done with fairies, does anyone need them? I know they are cheap but instead of fragging I can send them over to whoever needs to free them
Weekend quests have been broken for while now, since the screwup during a holiday. Now they DO change, but the Friday is still the week befores, and they're going until Monday. But Pete has been it for like,, two or three weeks in a row now.
You know. I switched taking my pain meds and my other meds from AM to PM - thinking I'd sleep better if I took the pain meds at night. The past 3 nights, I've woke up at 4am. Going to switch them back. Ugh.
Dinner cooking, I'm very hungry for some reason (maybe because I didn't really have a snack? All my snacks are junk food anyway so I shouldn't be eating it).
Hubby told his dad about us finally. However, it appears they are not having a family dinner/get together - they sent an Omaha Steaks box to me and hubby, and then cards (with gift cards or something in them) to the kids. Weirdly only 2 of the cards showed up today in the mail, so hopefully the 3rd will show up tomorrow. They did not specifically SAY they are not having dinner/visit - but they did not mention a day/time either....the years they don't have dinner, they usually come over Christmas Day - but who knows. Guess they'll go to his house. And/or mine to see Nathan/Shane depending on if I take them over there instead or something I guess. We shall see what happens next.
Katie is coming up Wednesday, I made a picture appointment for Thursday afternoon, then they'll go back home. Then she's coming back up like the 23rd? And will do Christmas at her dads the 24th, so I will probably take Nathan and Shane over there then. Going to be a bit of a madhouse I guess, til we figure out who does what when/where and how hahah :P
It's always a little awkward at first, Kat. Thankfully they're older and not as affected although my girls rather enjoyed having multiple Christmas's. :P
Nearly halfway through the month already. Sheesh. I need to get a ham and some other odds and ends before it gets too much later. I'm totally dragging ass this month in all regards. /sigh

That sounds busy, Kat! But like a good time.
Ugh guys. If the van doesn't get fixed tonight I'm just going to murder everyone. BUT. It's going to get fixed... just in time for it to snow. :/
I haven't had a car since last weekend and I'm DYING.
I'm not as fussed over the dates as I am about figuring out the arrangements. Once I know who needs to be where when and how long it'll be alright. I had multiple Christmases growing up as well plus a few as an adult going down to visit mama after being married. We will figure it out.
I am not sure what we will do for dinner. It is usually a ham like at Thanksgiving but I feel almost like doing something else. Maybe a pot roast or something. I dunno.
Hope the van gets fixed soon mieke!! My phone said snow flurries Thursday night but I doubt we will see any lol
I don't do a ham very often at all so I'm looking forward to it. I like making my own glaze, too. It's a lot easier to fix than a turkey when you're constantly basting it, lol.
All hail the repair gods! Trying to call out to them for you Mieke. I know it sucks not having your own transportation. Best of luck for that! I'm gonna push my brother out to finish up the brake work on my daughters car he started about 2mths ago. Ridiculous.
No snow here. Just dark and dreary all week and now it's raining. DREARY! This is the worst part of winters up here.

Its been overcast/cloudy all week (and part of last week). Rained a lot too. Been too wet to go outside for recess this week so far and I doubt its going to be better tomorrow or Friday.
The third card from the in-laws showed up today (two days later than the other one) and looked like a corner had been opened and retaped. So I asked hubby what he thought, he had me open it and check, and nothing was in it. No reason for there to be "Do Not Open Until Christmas Day" written on it unless there is supposed to be something in it. So I think whoever's house it got accidently delivered to opened it. Or someone at the post office is stealing out of cards (I've heard that happens, but it never ever has before for me) and then sending them on later....who knows. Ryan is going to contact his dad to see what he says about it. I doubt there is anything the post office would do/could do, as I have no proof other than the other two cards weren't torn and MY word that they were delivered 2 days earlier.
Our manager sends us gift cards every year for Xmas and tapes the hell out of the envelope, lol. Never really thought about it too much but that makes sense to do so if people are stealing the contents out of them.
Hope that's not the case for yours.

Nope FIL said there was supposed to be $ in it. Ryan said he said "you can't trust anyone these days" and I was like NOPE. :(
So Ryan is going to replace the $ and I dunno if FIL will replace it to Ryan or not, but thats between them. FIL is going to contact the post office, not like that will do much good as far as I know, but it will make them aware I guess ?
The envelope was taped shut, but not like, massively taped shut, the top corner/edge was torn, and looked retaped, which is why I was concerned about it. Like a small tear would have been no big deal, but like a whole corner, with a section ripped and taped back up? Hmmm... fishy.
SPOILER (click to toggle)
Other kid envelope vs...
The envelope with the torn corner/top
That's pretty messed up, Kat. Pretty obvious that it's deliberate. Regular mail just doesn't get torn like that. Those are government jobs with cameras all over the place so I bet one of the few times it's not in front of cameras is during delivery (unlike the Arizona ballots, LOL).
Seems like your dad knows what he's doing by sending them that way. Yay dad!
