I stayed in my cousins' cabin when I was a teenager. It did have electricity from a generator, that ran a fridge, lights, and also pumped water from the river to the sink, but no A/C and no bathroom. There was an outhouse and a firewood stove and oven. It was pretty cool along the river, so the windows open with cross breezes was nice.

Never have I ever lost the keys to my house and slept outside. (I just found out how easy it was to break in, which called for more measures later! lol)
