Another attempt to remove a transmission from a car. Last time the class was within reach of achieving that goal. Tomorrow's shop will be revealing. Best mine prepare for the setup.

: Are you trying to remove just the transmission or the engine/transmission together? Mark says that with transverse engine/transmission (front-wheel drive) it's sometimes best to remove both together using a chain hoist. Good luck. Don't get greasy.

Keep me and my author's family in your prayers for a couple of reasons. First, Grandmama G. passed away on 02/22/2022. She's Francine's mother who was 90 years old. Grandmama G. is 's and 's grandmama, Francine's mom ( My Author Mark's mate is Francine ). She died peacefully. Francine and her family are planning for a memorial service for this month. And while it was expected that she would pass away because of failing health, it's still sad when the finality of her passing comes to mind. She is really missed.

I've not been feeling well too, so there you go.

I love you all! I'm so glad that the Lair Bears keep adding new folks to our clan. This truly is a house of love.

I thought the same I was so shocked to get an event for to join the den/lair. I thought I must be losing my mind. I even went and checked initially, I was like this situation does not compute at all. If I catch the Gremlin, his going to get his fingers glued together.

Side note Frieda I called, my Grandma "Grandma G", it was us kids way of knowing which grandma we were talking about.

BHH is a fickle friend, it takes many visits. But at least I got the achievement and can decided if I want the item or not now. Before I had to buy whatever popped up to reach the achievement.

In shop we have two point hoists to raise the vehicle. After removing any bolts from the topside, we did utilize a brace to hold the engine while the transmission is removed. Mine managed to keep the grime to a minimum, and am in the works to prepare for next week's open shop. Mine replacing the inner and outer tie rod ends of my car, which will also include an alignment.

Mine in no rush to complete the next assignments, they're not due until after spring break.

: When my Author removed the engine from the little VW Rabbit, he simply hooked is two-ton chain-windlass to the ceiling joist in his garage and that little motor and transmission popped right out with minimal invocations to the Maker. (or curses)

But taking out the larger Taurus engine required separating the transmission in order to hoist out the motor. This resulted in the ceiling joist creaking/cracking under the strain. He had to add extra 2 X 6 ceiling joists before he reinstalled the motor, lest his garage roof collapse.

When it came time to rebuild the Explorer V-8, he gave that car to a charity and bought a new car because he didn't want to pull the house down trying to get that massive motor out of that old SUV. Which, is also one of the reasons he got rid of his Ranger truck at the same time, because his fantasy had been to actually take the V-8 out of the Explorer and replace the 4-cylinder motor of the Ranger with it. Vroom Vroom! Alas, once rid of the Explorer, there was no reason to keep the truck.

Please send Mark and Francine my condolences on the passing of her mom. It is so hard when that happens. My grandparents passed in 2020, only a few months from each other. I still miss them so much when I see their pictures on our wall.

i am wishing for you the sweet sad sorrow that follows when losing a family member you know is ailing. the time they actually go is heartwrenching.
