: I love that song from The Jungle Book! I haven't read that book, but I can tell you this. I've stopped chiding myself for all the things that I haven't accomplished and I've stopped comparing myself to everybody else who do things better than me. If I only wash one dish instead of the whole stack, I take pride in what it is that I've accomplished. If I draw a picture, I take pride in the fact that I was able to do something creative. It doesn't matter if it isn't 'as good as...' somebody else's art. I mean, seriously, it doesn't matter to any of the artists I'm tempted to compare myself to, they're not going to see it. I've become much happier with myself as a result. Glitter taught me this.

I finished a short story (relatively...for me....) this week about one of Glen Meadow's historical figures from 1962...Penelope Snowdrop Redfern. She is a young black-footed ferret child who is apprenticed in the Mine Engineer's Hall, learning how to calculate and draw the plans for tunnels, shorings and maps of a hard-rock mine in Central California's gold country. She and her friend Petra Annalisa Dewstar have an adventure recovering a ruby ring and gold fob-watch that Petra has found in an old abandoned house in the human town of Glen Meadow. They are followed by a group of thugs, harassed by a greedy raven and attacked by a hungry bald eagle.

I also started a new story about Penny's older brother, Griffen the apprentice bladesmith. He is fascinated about the recent orbit of John Glenn and becomes fascinated about stars and planets. When he sees a fireball fall to Earth and hears the sonic boom of it's impact, he vows to locate the meteorite so that he can forge a sword from the metal of a star. He and his best friend Seamus venture to the glaciers of the Sierra Nevada and encounter a temperamental wolverine, a band of blood-thirsty wood rats and the lost Badger-Lord, Herr Sturmjäger. I hope to be able to have it completed by Tuesday.

do you ever get annoyed with pet hair? Don’t! Why? Because when that pet passes, little clumps of their hair showing up unexpectedly is a gift of being able to touch them one more time. My Roxy and Ringo’s long hair keeps showing up in unusual places. You can see them under RL pets on my profile. Car has been shampoo the carpet and chairs recently. This morning clump of Roxy hair in my car, beautiful unexpected gift. Brought me to tears!

Tho I do see many get annoyed seeing pet hair everywhere and hard to clean and everything but you got a point here!! Their hairs represent their presence in the world :')

Roxy was soft and silky, being her and her brother were chow chow and German Shepard mix, so both were long haired and were difficult to brush and was everywhere. I actually found Ringo’s hair and his been gone 4 years in July

There's always too much hair going through here for that kind of wonderfulness but I scooped up some of N's shed when we lost her and we took cuttings from N, Leo and Rafi. He also had a cutting taken from my first ferret and the hair was split and put into two resin pendants. (Horrible resin pendants so yellowed after just the first couple of years that I can't tell there's anything in them but I know and am still thankful to have them.)

Similar to your find about two years after I lost Rafi I picked up a caddy that basically always lived where it was and all of his favorite toys just came pouring out. Raw shock. I thought they were under the fridge tbh. I think I just shut down and the rest of that day and rode the rollercoaster of laughing and ugly (UGLY) crying. XD

hugs I tend not to get annoyed just for this reason. I've lost 2 cats over the years, my current boy is going to be 16 in April, I've made a point to already keep some hair in a little bottle.

I honestly was annoyed with all the hair, and now its. Memories and sensations, every time I find some. I rub it between my fingers, and rub it on my face. I always buried my face in Ringo and Roxy's fur. The day I knew I had to put Roxy down, I buried my face in the fur around her chest and neck and inhaled her scent. As I did, when the vet put her down.

I know I was always fighting to control the hair all over the place. Really hard with Ringo and Roxy, because their fur was all the chow chow side of them. Constant brushing and no use. Best thing I ever did was take them to the groomer, every 6 months as winter started and ended. Groomer told me, there is enough fur in the back for 2 other dogs. I learned what I was doing grooming them wasnt good enough, with long haired dogs. groomers are the best bet. I love petsmart, for extra fee for dogs that have issues like behavior or old. The groomer will only work with your dog. Which I gladly paid, plus I always waited the whole time. I dont believe in just dropping them off, and leaving them in a strangers care. I thought about keeping some of the hair I found, but its so emotionally raw. Instant wet sack of perpetual tears. I just want to turn the clock back, to when they were puppies.

I agree, I had Ringo and Roxy since they were 4 months old, I got them from the humane society. Littermates are the best to have, and they were balls of fluff.

one person can make a difference. A smile, a word of encouragement, sometimes that can make a big difference, but you might not see the result.

No one person can fix everything. No one person is responsible for everything. Just do one thing to make the world a better place and you have helped.

I was so scared reading "the shining" I crawled into bed with my mother! lol Another excellent book that scared me to bits but I enjoyed the reading was Sunshine by Robin McKinley. It was creepy more than horror but it left and impression. I read a lot of books and barely remember them.

I agree, we give too much care about too many things. Lose sight of "don't sweat the small stuff" (it's almost ALL small stuff) Having a sticky note on my computer: "is this useful?" helps a LOT.

I don't mind the dog hair. I get a little grief (guff?) from the grown kids about the hair on their clothes when they are dressed up and once or twice about dog hairs in food... Meh, big deal! Well, now we are barely visiting each other. I think hairs on nice clothes is MUCH better than shutdown!

I love Stephen King, and Robert R. McCammon as well. I've loved being terrified by books since I was able to read them XD The ones that really freak me out, I tend to want to add to my permanent collection so I can revisit them once in awhile :)

So many people just can't understand how important pets are to some of us. I burn when I hear stories about abused/abandoned pets. Did I ever tell you that when I adopted my second dog Gypsy she was full grown and weighed 7 lbs.? Poor baby was a walking matted skeleton. She blossomed into one of the sweetest most loving dogs that ever lived.

Heheh, Coco is leaving white hairs all over my bed. Doesn't bother me at all, but the maid I have coming in to help vacuums it all up.
