I also support the idea of changing the name, it wouldn't really be a big deal to adjust one word.

My suggestion for a rename would be "Ocyon" - a derivate from the Procyon genus, which is the one including raccoons.

"Procy" could be a nice alternative, as it would double as a proximity pun - raccoons do live in mankind's proximity

Yeah, any item that contains that word should just be changed to "Raccoon" or given a better name. That's not cool and it hurts literally nobody to change it.

At everyone saying "it's context that matters", would you still be singing that song if it was a case of better-known or more widely-used slurs? Probably not. Either way, it's an item rename, it doesn't affect you or anyone poorly in any way and can only do good.

This reminds me of a thread years and years ago back when we had captchas. Someone posted that this word came up and a lot of people learned something new that day. I had no idea we had any items named with that slur and I'm surprised that they're still around.

Any items that contain it definitely need to change. Being an uncommon or rare slur in certain locations doesn't make it okay.

Captchas are uncontrollable though, randomly generated for reasons (thwarts bots), and you can refresh them.

Names are another matter and I don't think something like this should be open for user debate as to being "worthy of a rename" or not. Something like this needs renamed, that should be the end of it.

No one is denying that the word has a negative meaning when used improperly. Lots of words are like that. Such as ritard and retard. One's a music term, the other is an insult. It's how you use it that matters. I don't care either way if this item changes or not.

As already said, this shouldn't be a debate. The name should be changed.

There may not have been an intent to harm behind the naming, but that doesn't mean there isn't harm. If you accidentally step on someone's toe, you get off their toe when its pointed out because it still hurts even if you didn't intend it.

Even though nothing is intended to be malicious because it's obvious to what it's referring too, it also costs nothing to just... change it. Especially if people are uncomfortable with it.

I think it's a good idea that pet species names are unique but for items/minions I think raccoon will suffice. Speaking from experience, I prefer easier to search names when minion hunting for my pets or building a treasure chest.

It's not a realistic raccoon like and , though - it's a raccoon-like minion, according to its description.

I really wouldn't like it to just be called raccoon because 1) not original 2) not even part of the same set than badger and hedgehog.
