My condolences for your loss; losing a pet is never easy. Remember that there is no wrong way to grieve. Take care of yourself and your family. Although I am new to KS, I feel that I can say that we will be here if you need us. <3
You've lost a dearly loved member of your heart's family. You matter too, why were you hospitalized? Hope your respective head colds go away soon, you both deserve to postpone birthday celebrations till you both feel better. Am sorry for your Dad too, hope he isn't in a lot of pain. This year got off to a bad start for many. Sending healing vibes your way. I pray with you that it can only get better.
Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities. - Voltaire Very nice and true, love it!
- Thank you so much and welcome to the group! These people are truly amazing! My husband ordered dirt to cover up the hole better and to create a "mound" so I'm going to help him and hopefully be able to find my closure that way.. I just want one minute with her to pet her. It's like my brain is telling me I NEED the physical closure. I also plan on making something with my Cricut machine to honor her. The vet office gave us her paw print put in like clay stuff for free so I'm thinking of doing a shadow box of sorts with that and her collar. Sorry for talking about such heavy stuff when you're so new!
Thank you so much for your kind words. I truly appreciate it!

You're very welcome. The shadow box is a brilliant idea.
Been having some health issues the last couple weeks. Went to the doctor today, which I didn't really want to do 'cause I don't like leaving the house atm, and it wasn't what I thought it could be thankfully. Looks like I was either really lacking in potassium or severly dehydrated. Blood test should tell me if it was the potassium or not. I'm obese and have high blood pressure and even though extra stress eating has been a real thing this past year, I found I didn't gain weight and my bp is good on the meds I'm on. Which is great. Losing weight would be good, but not gaining feels good right now.
I'm so so sorry for your loss and the chaos and other stresses happening at the same time. Wishing your dad and you both well! ❤ I very much like the shadow box idea.
I have been really feeling that quote recently. :)
“Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.” - Benjamin Franklin
"Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people, making widows their prey and robbing the orphan." - Isaiah 10:1-2
You have to watch your hydration getting dehydrated is not a good thing. Know how you feel about not leaving the house, I'm sitting on the couch beside you. One small victory today, earlier this month I joined up for delivery again in hope that this month I would be able to get my meds delivered as in the past Medicare did not allow it. Being a new year with the virus getting worse it seems now I can get my meds delivered quarterly! Kept trying all last year, am glad that now it will come to my house!
Oh don't worry about it being heavy and don't apologize! When I had to put down my 16 year old cat 4 years ago, I had a week to prepare for the day. I can't imagine how it would be if it was so sudden. Find closure in the best way possible for you. I think using the paw template is a wonderful idea and I hope you find peace in creating something for your pup!
I wish the best for your father, and I hope you are better after your hospital stay. I'm so sorry for the loss of your dog. Pets are family. They make our lives so bright and full of unconditional love, laughter, and memories. Your dog was loved his whole life and even though it was short, every day was precious. I love the shadow box idea too. I would add pictures too. Deepest sympathy.

If being dehydrated is how I felt, I don't want to feel that way again. For sure.
Lovely little graphic.

Goodness me! So many posts, I want to try to address everyone!
Lets see...
, I know nothing we say here will help that so important part of your babies life that you weren't able to be at. I'm sure your husband took such good loving care of her and made so sure she knew how much her mommy loved her and wanted to be there. Use the time to help with the "mound" and talk to her, she'll be listening I promise. Just talk to her while you're working and tell her everything you couldn't Monday. I used to work at a vets office and unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) I somehow ended up answering a lot of calls from clients asking about end of life things. The paw print, I made some at my job for clients. I especially made sure to make them myself for clients that liked me best or to whom I had a connection with them and their pet. I felt so well...happy to make those for them. (not for the event in which I did make them) I'd always add a special touch too. Those are a wonderful keepsake, I'm going to turn mine into tattoos. I digress...if you EVER EVER want to talk, clients always told me that I was so kind and made them feel so much better. I am here. I'm sorry we're meeting this way; however, I extend lots of hugs, peace for your heart, as well as prayers.

, I feel you on that, I myself have gained...well I don't want to talk about a sensitive topic...but lets say I'm seriously in the same boat with just hoping I stay at the same weight or only go down until I'm ready to work on that... Dehydration; lord I almost lost my mom that way! That is no joke. You have got to make sure to keep track of your fluid intake! So desperately important!! Yes, your quote...so wonderful. It hits home close! <3 feel that with you!
I hope I didn't miss anyone....

Just glad you saw a doctor, good to be sure. I have trouble drinking enough, as I get busy and it just slips my mind. Yes, have felt that way for the past four years!
I hope the same for you. I was truly surprised I didn't gain. With moving so much less over the last year I felt like I had gained, but I hadn't weighed myself all year either. Didn't want to stress about that on top of stressing about everything else. Not making a resolution but am going to try to make a small change every so often to try and change my habits. We'll see if it holds. Already failed my first one once, so starting again. :)
I also tend to get into whatever I'm doing, though mostly it's losing myself on youtube/twitch this past year, and forget to drink the water in front of me. Also I don't like room temp water so after awhile if it's too warm I need to switch it out and then I don't want to go downstairs to do that. Must try to not be so lazy. lol

Am wondering if the GoLo Diet might help you? Must say I get lost streaming except that lately all I watch is CNN, stay logged in here but don't pay much attention except to use the new CW and spend the three vouchers that this Goddess gets, LOL. Back doing more jigsaw puzzles lately, great to do while listening to reality hit the fan politically.
Water should be the temp just before freezing. That is how I keep my fridge and the water container I keep there as well as the container on my table, right beside me while I play here.
Today I received my 2 meds in the mail from the pharmacy! They sent it over night USPS, wow, when I fill it in person I have to wail until the 25th. First time, that is one trip I am overjoyed not to have to make, just hope it continues 3 months from now.
Well, maybe I need to start drinking to stop a certain recent behavior - late night online shopping. Just got my sandwich maker. But last night I was once again thinking Fudge - real hard old fashioned fudge. With my minds taste buds swirling my nimble fingers started searching. The downside is how much you need to spend to place an order but since we are talking fudge you know I managed. In my defense I have not had this wonderful mouth watering item in over 50 years. Thought I might have found it round Thanksgiving but I was disappointed and gave it away.
Got my blood test results back and my doc says it's all good. sigh of relief So, drink more, espeically water.
I checked out the GoLo but they require a supplement and I've had a reaction before to an herbal supplement. Not sure I'd feel safe about that. We keep a jigsaw puzzle on our dining room table, have forever now, and mom and do it either when we're cooking (it's great when you're waiting for something to boil) or just when we need a break from the screens or in mom's case her books.
Yum, fudge. Can't remember the last time I had fudge.

Sorry, didn't know about the herbal supplement. And I want to make brie en croute. My taste buds have a head case I think, LOL.
My doctor thinks I have a sinus infection and is getting me in with an ENT for the ongoing sinus issues. The antibiotics are helping already, but keeping a thought straight lately is hit and miss.
I love doing jigsaw puzzles but never have the room.
glad you got your meds. The only problem with getting them in the mail is some can't go over a certain temp and you know, summer. Yum, fudge.
that seems a lovely tribute.
Made an appointment today for my mom to get her first vaccine dose. Very exciting. I know we won't be maskless for many many months yet but at least it feels like a beginning.
You got a forum point while making a post!

Since I retired and quit smoking I have not had a sinus infection but I used to get them all the time for years, I sympathize. Love Flonase. Agreed, I used to have a large table that I would do huge jigsaw puzzles on, but now do puzzles online at JS Puzzles. They have a wide range and are 225 smallish pieces each, been doing them for years. Some are very pretty works of art and others are places and so on. Give it a look see, you can be midway thru a puzzle and save it to return. The meds I'm not too worried about as if only have to fill them quarterly. But I will check on them this summer, good thinking. Since Trump screwed up the secondary doses and they are not there, I have decided that I will not get my first vaccine dose until they have my second on hand.
I'm going to look into goLo too I suppose...
sinus stuff, blech! I feel your pain, I wish people with chronic sinus issues could get them removed like tonsils.
I want to get into puzzles, but we have 3 cats... not sure how that'd work...
Also SpiritedLass, as far as medications mailed/shipped in the summer...no worries about that. Pharmaceutical companies know how to package those items and deliver so it's not an issue, you'll have to be home to receive anything that must be stored at a certain temp or refigerated. :)

Hoping the defense production act will get used at the beginning of the new admin and it won't be too much of a problem. Feel like this year especially has been just a year of hoping.
I've seen mats you can do puzzles on that supposedly can be rolled up when not doing your puzzle and then put out again with the puzzle and pieces still in place to continue. I've never tried one or researched them so I don't know if they work or not. Also not sure what size puzzles they fit.
