I mean, I hate the retail aspect of it, specifically in regards to bitchy Karens who get mad because they didn't read their coupons and can't use them, but other than that I actually really love it. It helps that the store I work at is really small and the boss actually cares about his employees (sometimes he'll buy pizza for us, though not currently with covid), so it feels like having a small family. And the employee discount is definitely fun, though my bank account doesn't like it...the only real downside is that because we're a smaller, more rural store, we don't usually have/get as wide of a variety as some places do. For example, I think 3 or 4 years ago, Weave Got Maille (a chainmaille supply company) partnered with Joann to sell their jump rings in stores. The closest Joann to me that carried them was still 2 states away. But overall, it's great.

I wish we had more local yarn shops near me. We have 1 I think, but they're kind of out of my price range for most things. (It's rare to find anything there for cheaper than $20.)

One of my friend wants to 3D print some terrain for Warhammer, so we've got one printer running that. I'm still trying to figure out why this other wood filament keeps screwing up my prints.

Ugh sorry about the Karens! Too many people have poor reading comprehension and then get defensive about it when they’re wrong. It sucks that people attack you over their mistakes. The rest of the job situation sounds pretty nice though!

I want to start supporting independent yarn dyers, but I’m waiting for collections/colors that I’m really interested in.

My favorite part is the rare day when I get to be back at the cutting counter and cut the fabric for customers. People are less angry back there than they are at the register.

Etsy's also a good option for supporting independent dyers. Especially if you're looking for a specific color scheme that the local shops don't have.

.> I...may have a ton of yarns favorited on there....

I think Sewrella Yarn on Instagram has really nice products. Her scented wool wash is cool. One of her boxes might make my Christmas wishlist.

I have been watercoloring a lot lately. Currently working on a short comic to learn backgrounds which more fun than I thought it would be.

Also learning about mixing watercolors with each other to get more colors.

Not yet! I am not feeling comfortable enough to post them online but hopefully soon. I'm still practicing a bit more how to watercolor. I'm actually more used to a tablet and cs6 then using watercolor. It's so different (I can't use control + z anymore haha) but I'm having fun with it.

The other day I was too fast with coloring which made colors bleed so I have to learn the timing as well!

Well my creativity actually usually channels out into writing but since I've been having writers block, I've been tossing around different ideas in my head. These ideas have been ranging from a Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy XV crossover fanfiction to a more OC story idea about a man who sells his luck to save his boyfriend from a terminal illness, and thusly the two of them having to deal with his horrendously bad luck. However I've also been thinking about getting into candlemaking maybe!

I started a crochet gingerbread house and a crochet popcorn garland, but they'll both hopefully be ready by Christmas 2021. Currently I'm working on a knit beanie with gray tweed yarn and a white furry pompom, and a crochet baby bonnet with lavender yarn.

Did anyone make anything cute for the fall and winter holiday season? 🍁 ☃

I’m trying to get better at crochet, and I am also in the process of planning the plot for a story that I want to write. I even asked my friend, who’s a fantastic writer, if she would be willing for help me brainstorm ideas. I’m used to winging writing projects and abandoning them once I get bored, but I have a lot of ambition for this one and I want to make sure it turns out really good (and has a satisfying ending)

i put some older pillow cases over my sewing machines XD My vintage one came with a case, but it's a pain to put the machine in its case and then take it out. ;p That baby is a very heavy beast without the extra effort of the in/out of the case. 😂

I really have to update my blog ObscureJourney and my review site BeingObscure. French speakers can read my reviews here.

I honestly don't remember what projects I was working on the last time I posted in here, but my current in progress items that I'm actively working on are a couple of custom cat plushies (which I've been working on for AGES, but am finally almost done with since I finally have time to actually make stuff again) and also a pair of pedicure socks (kind of like arm-warmers but for your feet, lol) oh, and kind of a vintage-y colored fox plushie too. I worked on it a bit over christmas, but haven't touched it since then.

[topic= 915567] I made a bunch of things this past month that I posted in the above linked topic. It was really fun to see all the entries!

I’m currently crocheting tiny hearts. There’s a blizzard outside, so I have plenty of time to be lazy on the couch and craft. ❄
