I started drawing again! I haven't really been drawing for years, and I realised drawing was helping me de-stress.

Here's my Instagram.

I started experimenting with my black aluminium scales and multichrome nail polish.

(Knitted) Multichrome scalemail fingerless gloves here I come! Just gotta figure out a good way to seal the polish on. Gonna test put both uv resin and gel polish top coat for durability.

Are you making these?

I've seen that kind of design done with crochet too using crocodile stitch.

Technically yes and no. Because I do loom knitting instead of needle knitting, there are some minor differences to the pattern/how I make them because I had to basically figure out how to do it on my own. So like this:

Nice! I can see how fingerless gloves would translate well to loom knitting. Are you familiar with Tuteate? I made a stuffed bunny using her loom knitting video tutorial.

The real trick with doing the scaled gloves on the loom is that you either need to make them as flat panels and seqm the side or you'll need a special loom that you can customize the layout of (like the Martha Stewart loom set or maybe the new flexee looms) because while the small (24 peg) round loom works perfectly for fingerless gloves, for the scale ones, they'll come out too big so you need a 22 peg setup for an average adult arm size. Though if the new flexee loom works well, it'll open a lot more size options.

And yeah, I think she's got a crown video that I followed last year. She's got some nice patterns, though I'm picky about what I make. For plushies, I generally go with Scarlett Royale.

I never knew there were so many types of looms! I have a round set from Michaels and I’ve seen the long rectangular ones there too. I get why you would be picky about patterns. Even with knitting and crocheting, certain patterns make things that just look wonky or grandma-style to me. I’ve found that Instagram is a good resource for modern designs.

Tomorrow is “granny square day” on Instagram so I made a sunflower square to post on my grid under that hashtag.

Lol, I'm kind of a loom connoisseur. I have a lot of sets of various brands of the round and rectangle looms in all sizes and then also several sock looms and a Martha Stewart loom set and 2 small gauge flexee looms and a large gauge flexee loom and I think 4 small gauge afghan looms (which also work well for shawls), and 1 large gauge afghan loom and a 28" knitting board (which is no longer made, but works great for making quick blankets using lion brand homespun yarns), and several other looms that I don't remember exactly what they are. I haven't bought any CinDWood looms, though a lot of serious loom knitters seem to use them, so I may pick some up soon. They're a bit more expensive though.

Ooh, I didn't know about that! I may need to see if I can make something for it!

For the past 10 years or so, and now, I'm writing a trilogy of fantasy novels called The Chronicles of Slyvondea. Right now I'm on book 2. My friends really enjoy it, and they tell me it's very good, but I think I'm still too self-conscious to publish them. Maybe I'll change my mind after I finish the whole series though.

I went to Michaels for some yarn today and it was cleaned out because they're having a big sale. All the things I was looking for were sold out, so I'm hoping they get restocked soon. I want a repetitive crochet project for a road trip I'm going on.

I made my first "masklace" and I'm really happy with how it turned out. I used pearly Toho beads and iridescent pink star beads. The bead section was pretty sparsely stocked too, but I'd like to get more to make some for my friends and family.

I've heard that a lot of craft stores are pretty wiped out of supplies just in general. The JoAnn I work at still has okay stock of most yarn and hooks/needles, though some of the more popular yarns are pretty cleared out. Last I heard, the Michael's here is closed due to covid so idk how their stock is.

Oooh masklace? Sounds interesting, do you have a pic?

Also, I may have a handful of custom projects (2-3 plushies and a pair of scale gloves) to work on soon. Because I'm an idiot and keep taking custom orders when I shouldn't.

I'm going to be making a skull hand headpiece for my marriage ceremony that's on Halloween. I got almost everything I need, but I cannot find fascinator netting anywhere that will have it to me soon enough.

I've also started drawing again! Right now I've been trying to design a card deck. I have pencil art in progress but probably won't have the patience to go in and vector everything.

I have more beads now at home to make some for other people.

Yesterday I went to a local yarn shop in the seaside city where I’m staying. I plan on making something for a newborn baby and practicing knitting rather than crochet with the lovely yarn I picked out.

I really like learning about what everyone else is creating. 😊

Oh those type of things! 100% not what I was picturing as a "masklace" but totally makes sense. XD Very pretty!

I'm probably gonna be making kid masks for a coworker this week/weekend. Everyone keeps telling me I should sell them in the gift shop at work, but I really don't want to get into that whole thing because I only get 1 full day off per week and I don't really want to spend it making masks. XP

But like, I may do a limited "when I'm out, I'm out" type of thing where I make and bring in a bunch (of kids and adult masks) and then just not make any more once my fabric is used up.

Still waiting to hear about commission projects, but also am working on a vintagey colored fox plushie and need to buy and test a totoro pattern for another maybe commission project. XD

Thanks! 😊

I’ve always wanted to get into making dolls and plushies. I crochet amigurumi, but I think it would be fun to make rag dolls with fabric. The Totoro sounds cute! There are so many cool and recognizable characters and items from Ghibli movies to recreate.
