The problem with defensive weapons, in general, is that there are no wrong threats, but there are wrong answers.

When a large amount of the power comes from a weapon blocking icons, whenever the opponent doesn't use those icons, the weapon loses a huge chunk of it's power. When you pile on the fact that your defensive weapon can randomly not block the icon you really care about it gets even worse.

I think it's very mediocre as a ice blocker, and even though I own a blade of the bonfire, I usually use Unstable sample syringe or malhuili as an ice blocker instead.

I actually only need it to block ice, so it would be used for those niche situations.

I have answers for every icon except ice atm. DGR for light ME for dark Natasha for fire Cronus blade magma Ether phys Etc.

I don’t need to use it to serve any other purpose other than for ice heavy opponents.

Syringe is a good weapon but I’m wondering if blade of bonfire with those mods equipped would be better than syringe. Or if I should just use syringe in the mean time (modded the same) and hope for a new ice blocker.

I find it a decent ice blocker even though it's random. IMO whether to pick it or the USS depends on how fast you are compared to your Challenger. If you are faster the curse of the BotB is stronger. They do different kinds of icon spreads, and which you are wanting to use also depends on what scrolls you are using either to boost damage or defend. If you don't need the attack from your scrolls, a Cobal Eternal has an (also random) ice defense that can back the BotB up

I am coming from the viewpoint of pets who are even stats and so they tend to have higher speed than many Challengers and can crit them occasionally/not get critted. If the Challenger you want to fight has a lot of HP that small chance of doing/avoiding the crit adds up.

RL rabbits/hares do like to dig in very sandy soil, so beach dunes are a good place to find them... if you find them. Sand is mottled tan and so are they. Or if you don't find them and step wrong to find yourself shin deep in sand-trappy dirt as the warren collapses under your weight.

I confess I was with you for hoping for some Omeni contrast to all those smug colonizing pirates though. Matlal would interrupt Blake and point out the giant killer Xotl with a nasty high-icon-count poison-curse or healing disabled or both.

The lore reason in the news post makes more sense, but I'm still doubting if Shadowglen and Arctic Frost are in October and December now.

I'm not sure what the pet could be, seems like one of the aquatic ones, but we only have 2 fish pets and Blake's diaglogue makes it seem like it's a fish and not a reptile (Chelon), mammal (Ontra), bird (Mallarchy), or whatever a Swampie is. But that could be misleading.

i cannot find blake so i wil keep going not done daily battle quests yet.

I'm personally a fan of BOTB cos I do feel like there are some decent number of opponents who do both ice and physical, I remember it came in pretty handy during that battle event during anniversary last year. Though my memory of which ones exactly is quite foggy.

BOTB and USS are probably the most accessible ice blockers right now, I do think the additional utility of adding BOTB to your set is diminished if you already own USS.

Long story short, if you have the money to spare, and already feel comfortable with your intel/scrolls/other weapons, it's not a bad option, but its not really a priority imo. But as usual, investing in your intel or scroll set will probably bring you more bang for your buck.
