I'm still getting used to the updates on Neo.

Thankfully, I haven't run into trolls on the forums there during my years there.

I mostly asked for quest help and whatnot so that's probably why.

13ish years and I don't think I'll stop using neo on occasion. Granted, nothing about it is objectively good or well designed, it's a sort of moth to flame dealio. sometimes, good people fall in love with bad media and that's life!!! I'm honestly blown away by subeta though, it's like what neopets would play like if it was well designed. Or just, like, designed. As opposed to just... happening.

re. the OP, I'm pretty sure every board that isn't the pound chat or the art board is either dead or overrun with trolls and memesters. I'm not really sure how it keeps going, but the art community never changes. Every year or so I make a request/art trade board and without fail, the exact same person immediately appears and requests a picture of one of their OCs, which is a slightly modified version of a cartoon villain from a variety of mediums. Anyway, I say this all with the greatest fondness for neo. It will always be close to my heart. Not for like, smart reasons, but close nonetheless

~ sorry that happened. Honestly the community there is more bad than good... I usually stick with neocash trading but even then, it feels like such a drag to make friends or even have anyone come to bump your board with you. Gets lonely sometimes lol. I decided to take a huuuuge step back from playing after the neocash news - I would much rather spend my time / money here on subeta.

I think it kind of depends on what you use neopets for though I agree that the chat community was never that welcoming. I personally rarely used the forums, even when I was a kid. When I was younger in high school it was because I was too shy for forum type stuff in general and because, I played neopets with a group of real life friends so all my interaction was between myself and those friends I played with. Those friends moved on and stopped playing virtual pet sites in general and one died in a car crash in 2018, and when I revisited neopets after years of not playing in 2015, I consolidated everything down. I got rid of my original main account, moved everything to my side account and then at one point a year or two later created a new secondary account but because I stayed away from the boards, I was more or less insulated against the more toxic elements of neopets simply because I just never visited them.

Now, my entire experience on neopets is pretty much just checking the mobile board and checking dailies to see the process of the mobile beta, but I pretty much just lurk the boards and don't really post on them. I don't know if I'll ever get to a point where I just abandon neopets completely, but neopets went through a ton of just really bad overhead management that had repercussions for years to come, especially during the Viacom era. Jumpstart seems to be at least trying to do better with communication with their userbase but it's not that great either. They at least are trying to keep users informed of the progress of the beta conversion to a mobile site. Right now, my total interaction with neopets is composed of just checking the mobile boards occasionally to check the progress of the mobile beta and doing my dailies. I don't really post in any of the forums, except for lurking them just to read the mobile beta updates.

Geez, what a doofus. Attitudes like that are why I avoid the forums there. I barely go on there now, just long enough to spin Trudy's surprise and zap my lab pet.

I have a 20 year old account on Neo, but I only really did food club and guilds after Keyquest and Habi got axed. My guilds died out, then I got into NC trading, until the recent changes, I can't use my closet. I hate all the changes so much. I keep it for pure feelings now but no actual use. I did join Neopets Classic when it was open two months ago, and it gives me total 2000-2005 vibes and it's great. I can't wait till it opens back up to get more people in there.

I used to be so addicted. and then animated/converted pets became a thing. I tried and tried to get into it. in the end I spent so much $$ on NC its kinda embarrassing,. But then their ads kept containing virus links bc they didnt screen them and i kept getting viruses. and yes it was from them bc I literally used that computer online NOWHERE else, and I didnt even open email on there (i was poor but my family let me use an older computer that didnt do much but webbrowse). I was the only one on it on a fresh install, so it was for sure them. I couldnt keep losing my classwork ( i was doing photoshop stuff) so I left my account to rot, when I came back they had frozen all my gallery accounts and wouldnt unlock them bc they had the same email, despite it being fine to have 5 accounts, it wasnt that. They claimed the auto word logger couldnt send me my word bc ALL HAD 1 email.

Right, fast forward, trying to get them unlocked once a year for 7 years. One day they finally unlocked MOST of them, I was like REALLY? omg! Rushed back in. Made a REPLY post and was warned for replying to a post about bird flu I think it was? All I had said was I hope you are staying safe or something, Yeah. ;/ I also got warned once for replying TO a scammer I reported them ('they logged their original post in my as 'trying to scam.]. Bright. It was obvious I wasnt writing that I only replied I reported you for scamming, what a joke. TNT wouldnt even review removing it. I was in a avatar guild called CTTM or coolness to the max, but i was kinda a fringe member, just there to talk avatars and help others, the guild cliques were brutal popularity contests lol.

I cant even go on there now, seeing profiles require a captcha every third page? and Ive no idea what to do on there now even. I dont connect to my pets much bc I had to move several to my side accounts bc threats from other users my pet names were 'satanic'. They werent. I was just a emo child and though stuff like demon and lucifer were good to use on HALLOWEEN pets. Yeahhhhh.

So I feel you. Its just so much....more here. I wish neopets would grow up, but it wont :( I miss my original crew of pets and it'd be so much work to add them back to that acct off the side ones. I had a massive petpet gallery too but it was on a side acct bc that reporting thing had me in fear they'd ice my account, and i wasnt willing to give up my pets I had for years....so...yeah....bleh neopets. Im sorry people are so angry on forums as per usual :( I blame the strict and sometimes unrealistic rules, they make people walking rageballs. One of my friends got iced for saying "my husband" bc its 'not a dating website", They had been a member since almost day one. TNT wouldnt even review it. Such bunch of crap.

Just proof that Subeta is clearly superior. Plus, Neopets games are all broken. It's really just not a good site anymore. The people on here are much nicer and more inclusive.

I got my main account back after 6 years of sending tickets/emails. I remember how much effort I put into that first ticket. I literally wrote paragraphs. I'd never had so much as a single warning and suddenly I was locked out. My ticket was deleted. Not closed, just vanished from their system. I created another one. No response. The ticket system was replaced by an email system. Fast forward a few years and multiple emails to this January. I decided to try one more time and I was done. Two months later, I get a reply telling me how to get into my account, lol.

The layout now is...yikes. I was an active player for over 10 years and I feel like I'd have to learn the site all over again. Features are broken. There are barely any games when I remember there being hundreds.

Don't even get me started on the pets. Subeta does SUCH a better job. Non-unique names and the ability to get more pet slots? Yes, please! We can have real, developed characters. I mean sure, we have to keep it PG-13, but there's so much more creative freedom than Neo has ever allowed, even back in the day.

I have good teenage memories of Neo and if it weren't for that site, I doubt I would've found my way to Subeta. For those reasons, I'll log into Neo now and then for nostalgia but it's Subeta that has my support. :)

I use to be a member of Neopets, it got boring to me, when they took away my favorite game called KeyQuest. I use to love that game! It was so so fun to play.
