I think I got it one time... it's random.

I winded up spending a good part of the day working on the resident library. I moved shelves, books, etc. I made room for the 202 comics I managed to acquire from an acquaintance. I'm exhausted, but at least now there's more space to put books and the comics will be a nice divertisement for some.

I've made it through a few times. It is most definitely random. But I'm convinced that if I take the same doors every time I get farther.

Just finished a major paper, and I had a section saying that graphic novels should be given more respect by parents.

I want the ribbon, but I think I'll have to wait a few hours....

Graphic novels are definitely undervalued. It's easier for those with reading disabilities, it can have incredible art, quite imaginative, etc.

There are fewer comics on the shelves... some are enjoying them :D I also told another of the autistics about the books... he brought his dog up and came straight back down to look at them :) It's nice to know my hard work is being appreciated.

Recently, I've learned that some classic novels/stories are getting more criticism. Have you read The Pearl? It's a story about a diver who finds a rare pearl. It's a classic, but I recently saw that the book had a 2.7 rating on Google! Pretty shocking, huh?

I remember reading a comment that says that the way the author's presentation of the story's moral was too mean spirited for them, so that might be one reason why the book's rating is so low.

Another classic story getting criticized is of course, Romeo & Juliet. Yes, I'm aware it's more of a cautionary tale than romance story, but if you ask me some of the side characters were dumber than the titular couple.

I had a nice peaceful birthday just enjoying my family's company doing nothing and enjoying a few of my favorite things. Had some delicious food delivered and then we baked a cake together the next day. <3 I finally made myself stay online until I actually opened gifts and thanked people so thanks for your patience with me as always. I know I've missed most birthdays this year, as is my habit at this point. I have no concept of time and miss 98% of birthdays to the point where I don't wish any to anyone on fb because then I feel bad missing the others. LOL I try here, but... DANG I suck. I've come to understand that I'm a fantastic friend to live near but... that's about as far as it goes :P cuz regular communication is not my strong suit. Thanks for always loving my crazy self.

omg yes we read The Pearl at my school, I have a horrible memory but I remember it was a liking it better than other Steinbeck works we read.

And yup, comics are saving my son's love of reading as he ages through this preteen stage. He used to devour books, but now they really need pictures to hold his attention. Stinkin gamer side effects lol

thanks so much for hosting! I've gotten through the crypts a fair number of times. I literally pick the same doors every time I play and get through about every 3-5 months. I try to play every hour, but have been failing at all things subeta recently.

Speaking about failing: I'm so sorry that I haven't been around. I've been pretty overwhelmed since about Thanksgiving and haven't been even feeling like myself at all. I'm not sure I'll get to gift-giving and am pretty low on sP, but I plan to try!

Also, I got fired from my job yesterday, or rather permanently laid off because of lack of work due to COVID. I'm pretty angry (today) and disappointed that my bosses didn't stand up for me and just plain scared. I would have been at my work for 25 years in February ... and they just do this. Well, I'm working through Jan. 4 and they are paying me for the month of January. Tom's also been out of work since last week due to indoor dining being prohibited in PA and he'll likely be out through the end of January.

We'll be OK and luckily we saved while he had a very busy summer, but it's all still just ... shitty. At least I hadn't really done much RL shopping yet either and we're having a low-key Christmas. Anyway, sorry for going off a bit. I am also excited for the opportunity to move on, and was pretty burnt out with my job anyway.
