I would say add a small chest to store clothes and other items. And a playpen, along with a small bookcase to put books you'll be reading to your baby.
Like a good neighbor, stay over there!

Hmmm that is a good question, I am not a mum or anything. But a baby monitor sounds like a good idea. And of course- car seat, changing table, crib, diapers and other stuff like that. :) Exctiting times! :D

Don’t forget blankets or a breast-feeding cover if you plan to breast-feed! If you get nice muslin blankets, they’ll only get softer over time, which makes sure it stays gentle for your baby’s skin. A nursing cover is also essential if you’re breast-feeding and you and your baby are going out in public.
A dishwasher basket for bottles or a bottle brush! Definitely helpful for cleaning.
Car seat seems super important. When I was a baby I was the most calm when going for a car ride so sometimes we'd go for a drive just to put me to sleep lol
A bed protector cloth you can put under the sheet in case of accidents-- will help keep the mattress(?) clean. You can still use this while the baby grows up. Burping cloths to put over your shoulder sound useful.
I also had a lot of CDs with nature sounds (birds chirping, cricket sounds, whale calls, waves on the beach) or however you get your music
What I've heard about having a baby nowadays is lots of kangaroo care so maybe various baby carrying wraps (though to be honest I'm not sure how kangaroo care works)
Hmmm what should you register for?
I was excited a few years ago to see a GLO WORM on a friend's baby registry. I realized I remember that I had one when I was small and I LOVED it. Give it a hug (squeeze) and it gives a gentle glow and plays a lullaby.

EDIT hey guys, come join the exciting giveaway. Evalynn says she would love to see more people playing along as she goes through the excitement of pregnancy. Participate as often as you like and are able. Weekly (pretty easy) tasks and a chance to win some serious goodies! Tasks are given on Fridays, prizes are given on Thursdays. Winners are randomly selected from a list of everyone who participated that week.
The current task is in post here https://subeta.net/forums.php/gotopost/63909408
***for example, top prize last time was:
- Congrats on your little kumquat! You should put those rainbow foam alphabet mats on your registry, they are great to create a fun and safe play area, especially if you have a lot of tile/wood floors, and they are educational and will be something they will enjoy well into early school years! (I have three friends who had babies this past year, and one more on the way, I got this for all of them! lol, whether it was on their registry or not, and they all love them)
Also, if you like a good joke: P is for Pterodactyl: The worse Alphabet Book Ever is a great read!
- I had Glo Worm too! They are pretty great (now I'm going to have that silly song stuck in my head though, it's not even for the dolls)
I definitely second a call for books! Some of my favorite memories with my parents as a small child were them laying next to me in bed reading, and it's probably why I always read so much as a kid. Also, my mom swears by nursing shirts, the kind that can unbutton near the top. She said it made it so much easier to go out with us as babies.
Something I would say NOT to get is one of those baby carries that keeps them chest to chest with you while out and about. I used to work with an older radiologist who said she saw a lot of babies with dislocated hips from them.
You guys will really like this give away. Here's this round info, and then the first post has more about what this giveaway is all about. Thanks and congrats to ! <3 :D I hope it's okay to invite my people to participate.
My suggestion for the registry would be a portrait session or a gift certificate for a photographer... can you add that to a registry? I'd want to gift that to a new momma, since I love photography so much... not sure since that's not a tangible thing if that's something you could add... so tangible I'd say a set if those clamp on pacifiers cause any are good but you don't want a spit out one to hit the ground when you're out and about, so the clip on ones will be better for on the go times. :)
(thank you for the fwsg ping.)
I always recommend registering for a wide variety of things, from cute little outfits to diapers and wipes. To me, the most important thing to remember is to register for STORAGE options. You're going to need a place to put toys and books and diapers in the nursery, so don't forget to register for shelves, boxes and bins.
Congratulations on your pregnancy! One must have is an infant car seat stroller. Some infant car seats are sold in a combo with the matching car seat stroller, but it's cheaper to get a separate universal one. To use you would pop the car seat out of it's cradle which stays buckled in the car, and set it in the stroller and strap it in.
That way you aren't struggling to lug the heavy car seat plus baby and diaper bag and everything else around. It's especially great with newborns who are too little to sit in regular strollers. I used the Baby Trend Snap-N-Go stroller and it was a huge life saver with my second daughter, I just wish I had had it with my first.
Great suggestions so far! I have been reading through everything each week and you guys are all so helpful! There's a couple things I've never heard of! I appreciate the extra pings this week too <3 Thank you all!!
I thought of a couple more things!
If you are planning on getting a convertible crib (one that can change as your little one grows), get all of the convertible pieces now! So many times people get the convertible cribs, but not the pieces, so when it's time to change the crib, the company doesn't have the pieces any more.
If you're a coffee or tea drinker, invest in a Keurig machine instead of a bottle warmer. We always just put a measuring cup down instead of a coffee cup, no K-cup, and just let boiling water through the machine. Put the bottle in the hot water in the measuring cup for a few minutes - boom, done! And you have a coffee/tea machine for yourself ;)
This may not be a registry thing, but have you thought about a christening gown (if your baby will be christened)? A very good friend of mine made one for my daughter and used the left-over fabric from my wedding gown, it was GORGEOUS and meant even more to me, because it was "from" my dress, like she was from our marriage;)
Is enjoying Spring
Oh wow, there are so very many things to think of when it comes to a registry! Some of our best friends just had a little boy and I have learned a ton from them!
One of the less well-known items would be a portable clip-on booster seat like the Chicco Caddy Hook-On Chair, which makes dining (especially out) easier once they're at the stage that they can sit in their own upright seat.
They also now swear by the newborn swaddlers :)
i was gonna be silly and throw a Teddy Ruxpin on here (Because WHO DOESN'T love TR?) but lbr that's for a bit older.
So for a better option - a humidifier! Dry air is really bad for babies lungs and can really irritate their nose and airways. So, humidifier~!
Depending on what kind of humidifier you want - warm mist or cool mist - factors into the one you want. Here's a link so you can look through and decide for yourself what your best option is! <3
o omg TEDDY!!!!!!!! I was lucky enough to have a Teddy <3<3<3 My dad worked for Worlds of Wonder when I was little (engineer) and even helped develop the voice chip for BABY TEDDY. =3
A few more things:
A really thin easily portable baby stroller. If you ever need to use the bus or run quick errands... the mega huge baby strollers become a royal pain to: carry maneuver avoid jamming people's feet etc.
The thinner and lighter the better it is. If you want a fancy bulky one have two... but you'll regret having a big one when traveling or shopping.
A mini blanket about the size of a place mat. The kid can tug it along everywhere, munch on it (cuz they love putting stuff in their mouths) play with it, snuggle it, etc. It's like a plush toy but easier to sleep on. I've knitted a few for people and the kids really like them.
Congratulations!
My favorite baby registry items are
I’m so excited for you!
