I can't decide if the nip is really making a difference or not, for me, but others I've spoken to say it really does for them. Ah, a wood stove! My grandmother used one, and it really made the house so toasty and cozy.

And cooking on one or using the oven is something else. I've said before how it draws my youngest brother to my house, who lives in a small trailer.

Well, that's good! Sometimes making the best out of life is all that you can do, and there can be so much power in that. :D Yay, I'm so happy to hear that the group is helping you!! That's amazing! ^w^ I can definitely relate to that. They inspire me to be chattier, friendlier, and more open to others. In real life I have Social Anxiety Disorder really bad, to the point that I even get highly distressed just hanging out with one friend alone. ^^' These people inspire me to not be as afraid.

I struggle with similar issues. I find it so much easier to socialize in writing, and at a distance, as it were. I love meeting and chatting with people, but it exhausts me in real life, and I can only handle very small doses. Here, it's so easy to have friendly conversations without being overwhelmed!

My great-grandmothers cooked on/in a wood stove, of course, and I've had a fair bit of cornbread and biscuits made that way, but I've never cooked on/in one myself. I have done soups on a kerosene stove when the power is out in the winter (before they began manufacturing them so as to keep people from being able to set anything on the top), and the slow cooking seems to make everything much nicer. I'd guess that a wood stove gives that same effect -- like a crock pot but better?

I know -- some really cute things!

I have good memories of having baked enchilada plates, and also from cooking out on the field with uncles. We would use adapted farm hardware to cook over campfires.

It's pouring the rain here, a real true autumn deluge. What with that, and a cat on my legs, along with a full belly, I could doze off in an instant! (When what I really should be doing is cleaning the bathroom. . . . )

That does sound like it would leave happy memories. I've never cooked over a campfire; using a grill is the closest I've come and my husband and I are both just terrible at grilling! My Dad is the grilling expert, and has a smoker, too, which makes an amazing Boston butt. I am not a big meat eater, but perfect pulled pork is hard to resist!
