thank you! My friend made the ears and I think it's her first CW that she drew to make it onto the site. So exciting, right? I'm not doing great, been feeling crappy actually, but hoping to feel better soon.

Thanks and sympathy for being crabby, I feel pretty crabby myself at the moment 💙

thanks, me too... really I do!

:-D I'm almost always crabby. I think it's mostly the gloomy weather. Last Friday I bought a Simple Living Products air fryer online (lots of people I know have one and love it) and it came today and was broken in the box. I have so many things I wanted to cook in it too. Boohoo

I'm like that usually and especially if it involves work. Probably the only reason I opened it so fast was it involved food. :-D I have a really tiny air fryer and I discovered apple chips made in it and they're so good but only half an apple fits in at a time. And I've been cooking garbonzo beans in it and it takes 35 minutes, but so much healthier than chips.

I don't think I even know what an air fryer is. I think of frying as all hot fat :)

It cooks foods like a convection oven. Blowing air all around to cook it fast so it gets crispy. I just put a little cooking spray on stuff to keep it from sticking, but you can add a small amount of oil if you aren't worried about the fat. I follow some food accounts on IG and they're always showing yummy stuff they've made in their air fryer but my original one is really too little to cook much at one time.

Does anyone have any ideas how to stop mould and damp in a small bedroom? my grandson lurks about in there, hes got asperger syndrome, and wont do much to help himself, theres a dehumidifier, and heating, which he wont turn on, he wont open any doors to let air circulate, the winter is shocking in his room, my daughter cleans what she can, but he leaves a trail of clothing all over etc, its a nightmare for her, as she works all the time. The fact that he might get ill doesnt bother him, he just wants to play on his xbox all night.
SORRY this turned into a rant.its just so frustrating.

it's a tough problem, but I'd say rely on his youthful immune system, it's rare to get fungal infections when your immune system is working properly. If he has a compromised immune system though, I'd give him the information in a very dry format, statistics, here's how likely you are to get sick from this, and see if it influences him.

Probably a kid or teen (how old is he anyway?) with an asperger type neurocognitive style will mostly be affected by hard facts. So if the increased likelihood of illness isn't demonstrated to him that way, he won't believe in it, and won't try to do anything about it. And actually being cold or humid doesn't make getting ill likelier, and mold is the only risk factor there (and only if he's immune compromised in some way - so include information on all the sources of that, such as lack of sleep, and viral infections, to help show him that even if he nominally has a well functioning immune system, he still might be at risk from time to time).

thank you. I'll do my best to take care of myself.

Thank you for that really well thought out response, it seems that you know about how aspergers works, I'll pass that on to my daughter. He is 21,he goes to work and manages most things, but anything that he doesnt want to do then he will not.
I hope you feel better soon.

I hope your daughter finds it helpful. My own son is kind of like that too, I guess that's why? (Not asperger but a different sort of alternative neurocognition style, different place on autism spectrum).

It's difficult and I sympathize with your daughter over it. (I don't try to pick up my son's mess but my husband sometimes can convince him to do it :D )

When I stayed in an apartment with mold in the guest bathroom (not even the one I used) it caused me to get really bad asthma and all sorts of problems. The only way to solve an issue with mold as the culprit is hire a professional to actually remove and repair the mold. Mold will grow within the wall and get into the drywall so simply cleaning the outside is not enough to kill it. Even straight bleach will only kill the top layer of mold cells. mold is like a fungus, so it has wide and deep roots.

Now if the mold is on top of something impenetrable, like on tile/grout then you'll have to clean the outside and clean the grout at least once a month, minimum, to keep the mold at bay.

If the mold is pink it's not actually mold, it's a bacteria. But this type of bacteria usually only collects in certain locations and offers no smell, usually.

My dad used to work for the county, government, for the health care of public health, so I know way too much about this kind of stuff.

Also a damp smell does not always mean mold, sometimes it could just be stale uncirculated air -- especially if the windows are all shut, with the heater on, and a dehumidifier recirculating the air.

Another trouble could simply be mold IN the dehumidifier. If that is the case you might need a new one,d depending upon how bad the contamination is. I had a humidifier once that got mold in the filter and then the air started smelling musty, heavy, and dirty. I changed the filter and it was ok but it came right back within a week. I ended up just having to get a new unit.

Have you any pictures of the mold? Or have you consulted with a mold-specialist? let me know if there is anything I can do, I'd love to help you more!
